We were in the mood for sandwiches last night and since we live a few minutes from Taphouse 23 we thought we’d give it a try. They advertise takeout on their website and we decided to go that route. I went in to pick it up and the food was ready in a fairly reasonable amount of time. I arrived home and saw that our french fries were missing from the bag. The restaurant was not busy at all so you would think they would not forget half our meal… but anyway, I called and went back for the fries. They were unapologetic and acted as though they were doing me a favor by having them ready for me upon my return. Of course our dinner was then cold by the time I got back home. I could have overlooked that, except the sandwiches were awful! I got the Farmer burger– the bun was dry, the burger was overcooked and under-seasoned. My husband ordered a Reuben(his favorite) and the bread was completely wet and soggy. He did say the actual meat had good flavor but that didn’t matter too much. For a place that boasts careful attention to detail and«stellar» food, I was not impressed. They should not advertise takeout if they can’t put the effort into making it great.

I was excited when a friend invited me to Taphouse23. Friendly young barmaid w outgoing personality poured me the perfect Martini. The food, not so good. I ordered the beef and cheddar sandwich. Came out cold w solid cheddar lump on top. They exchanged for an even more well done, rubbery version luke warm. When i pushed it away and the waitress acknowledged i couldnt swallow, she never offered a manager or take off bill. My buddy’s medium rare burger was served like a hockey puck also. Drinks –10, food — 00, service –5. Dmike from Eagleville

This place is amazing all around atmosphere, drinks, and food plus food presentation looks like something you see right off the TV. A large list of specialty drinks, menu has plenty to choose from for all likings, will definitely be back, Note outdoor seating with fire pits at the table, huge bar area and plenty of TVs would be a great place to watch a sports event

I have been here twice now and I love the place! Nice and casual without being run down. The burgers and main courses are very good. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the fried food — calamari and onion rings — were very greasy and the calamari was rubbery and over cooked. The wings are a safe bet for appetizers.

A new favorite. Really nice menu – food is fresh and a little unusual. And good. Beautiful place with a nice large bar. Great craft beer selection on tap and bottles. Staff is nice, especially Kendra, who made us feel welcome. She was totally capable and made the visit excellent. The right bartender can make or break a visit, and probably a business. We’ll be regulars. Thanks for the exceptional IPA’s!

Updated review: management responded to my complaint about inaccurate prices. I am pleased to change my review to 4 stars. Mistakes happen, but how they are handles says a lot. I look forward to returning for the great beer and service.

Came here on an early Thursday night, just before happy hour ended. My friend and I sat at the bar which wasn’t very busy. It took 15mins before we were greeted and after ordering our drinks and eventually placing a food order we still had to ask for water. I order a lamb burger and it came out exactly as I order. Everything we order came out good and timely. Our bartender was simply very inattentive. My friend showed up who was working upstairs was immediately attentive like she knew our bartender sucked. It’s been a long time since I’ve tipped poorly. I tip 20% for basic service and go from there. She wasn’t rude, but the lack of service of atrocious. I’m gracious when I see that it’s busy, but it wasn’t. I’d go again and pray she wasn’t working.

Went with my girlfriend late on a Friday night. Food was amazing, I got the chicken parm and she got the mac and cheese, and we split the soft pretzels. We’ve both had our fair share of both entrees at other restaurants, and I think they really rank up there. Service was pretty good, our server was very friendly, and managed a good balance of being attentive without rushing us or being down our throats. If I absolutely had to complain about something, it was slightly on the chilly side where we sat, and the beers they had on tap when we went were a little heavily slanted towards IPAs/Pale ales without a whole lot of diversity, but the food and atmosphere more than compensated. Will definitely be going back.

Turns out this is one of a number of restaurants by the same people. It’s evident by the excellent service, well versed menu, and efficient layout. Valet parking is available. The bar has a perfect amout of TVs. The dinner specials are always rotating. An absolute asset for Bridgeport! We love the appitizers! Sitting outside in the summer is a lot of fun and less noisy than inside. The inside can be noisy and it isnt really condusive to a romantic atmosphere. I haven’t ever been upstairs. The bathrooms are very clean and all the finished material that make up the restaurant are very modern and well put together! We deffinitely get hankerings for Taphouse 23!

Service was a bit better this time around, but still pretty poor. Unfortunately the bartender was all alone with a full bar to serve and a restaurant to pour drinks for as well. She did try hard. It seems that the issue was more poor planning by management on the staffing level than than the staff themselves. 5 of the beers were gone, and had not been replaced. So, there were only 18. The hamburger was delicious, though did not come with mustard as ordered. I did see the bartender put it into the POS, so I have to assume that this was a kitchen error. Normally this would not have been something to mention here, but the fact that it took more than 5 minutes to even get the attention of the bartender to ask for it while my burger cooled was frustrating. Overall, the food remained the high point, while service improved from terrible to poor. Nonetheless, I am quite sure that I will return for at least one more try. Maybe the key is to just come here to drink, or to sit at a table not the bar.

A surprising gem we discovered for brunch! The patio is welcoming and beautiful, perfect on a mid-September morning. Service was quick, our server Amanda was very friendly towards us and attentive to our 5-year-old. The kids menu had all of the favorites and the adult menu offers variety. The steak in the breakfast steak and eggs exceeded our expectations, and the crab and avocado salad had both great taste and a beautiful presentation. I believe we found a new brunch place for our list of favorites!

The patio alone was worth the visit. We came here on a Friday night around 6 pm and were promptly seated at a table in the patio. The patio is large with plenty of seating, a bar, tvs, live music, lounge seating and a water feature. The patio is outside facing 4th street and it is elevated so you do not get the road noise. We had the calamari and a couple of flatbreads. All the food was good and came out quickly. They had a good selection of craft beers on tap and a good selection of bottles. We opted for bottles of flying fish. The entire place seems to have bee remodeled. The inside of the restaurant looks new with a beer theme. They have some unique beer bottle lights above the sink in the bathroom. Will visit again.

Pleasantly surprised and totally impressed. Came here on an random Sunday for a quick bite after driving past tap house on multiple occasions. The drinks are priced so well! I guess since I live in center city and don’t frequent places outside of Philadelphia, I’ve become accustomed to the inflated prices but man was this easy on my wallet. We had the 23 burger and the hot beef and cheddar. Both were so good! Beef hot and cheddar was the star. Savory, moist, and very well seasoned. I’m coming back for that sooner teacher than later. Burger was a bit on the dry side? I ordered it medium well and I don’t like condiments so maybe that’s my fault. That aside it was still one of the best burgers I’ve had since I moved to PA a year ago though. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Super modern with an amazing patio. Definitely one of the best restaurant bars in the area

They’ve done an amazing job with Taphouse(previously the Point on 23). The finishes in the building are great as well as the layout. The second floor has an additional bar if it’s too crowded on the first. Most impressive is the outdoor patio that has a bar, fire pits, and heaters to ward off the chill at night. It’s raised above street level to make it quiet and improve the view. They scored on the menu too. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from appetizer to dessert. They’ve done a particularly good job with the flatbreads. I could just have that and be fine, but I’ll keep digging through the entrees. They keep a couple dozen craft beers on tap along with bottles. My one complaint was that their beer prices are expensive, but they listened to the people and put some domestics on. When the summer heats up, so will this place.

Huge improvement over the last place, the outdoor bar is second to none. Food is good, beer selection good and ambiance is subpar. This place has an LA vibe without the plane ticket price.

POTPIE!!! I’ve had other tasty items from here also, but man that pot pie was wonderful. I’m scared to ever research what the caloric intake was for me that night while I cherished that pot pie. Other good eats: –The scallops –The mussel appetizer –The cheesesteak egg roll appetizer; the dipping sauce is nothing special but the roll itself was mighty tasting. It gets pretty noisy in there especially if you stay on the bottom floor with the bar, but I did see that they they have upper level seating. I’m also excited for the warmer months to be able to sit outside. Great craft beer list that does alternate so you can always find something new. No lot parking so either break out parallel parking skills or utilize their valet service. I am definitely going again to try a sandwich, and to maybe relieve my memory of the pot pie and bread pudding.

The hostess notified me that the table given to us has a 7pm reservation. This gave us a little over an hour to enjoy the ambience. Not a problem, my concern was the 15 minute wait after being told our table is being held for a reservation. Once I met our server Sherita, it wasn’t so bad. I ordered a Manhattan an Angus burger. I prefer my burgers to be medium but the cook made it med well. Bummer! I dislike sending my food back and didn’t make a stink of it. Overall, the ambience is great, the food taste fresh, decent variety of beer(draft & bottled), and the drinks were strong. This would have been 5 stars if not for the wait and prep of my food.

My bf and I have been patiently waiting for this restaurant to renovate and re-open.(I love alliteration!) We also waited a little longer after they opened, to give them time to work out kinks. We both really enjoyed our visit. Our server was tiny, perky, and very nice and helpful. Our food was delicious. We opted to just get sandwiches on this visit in lieu of actual dinner entrees. I ordered the reuben, which was definitely one of the best I’ve had. The corned beef had obviously been crisped up on the flattop, giving it a great texture and flavor. It wasn’t one of the huge and overstuffed versions you’d get in a deli, but it was still filling and really delicious. My better half ordered their roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich. It was really great and super flavorful. Just be warned it’s VERY spicy. And we didn’t even add the fried long hots that come on the side. All sandwiches automatically come with homemade potato chips that you can be upcharged for fries if you’d like. I recommend you stick with the chips — they were so good! The décor and vibe inside was cool. Definitely didn’t feel like I was in Bridgeport. The restaurant seemed well staffed, and things were executed pretty well. The only downside that I saw was the beer prices. Really high, like 2 dollars more per beer than what I would pay. We both love beer, but just couldn’t stomach the prices. Even the few non-craft beers like Miller lite are like $ 5 dollars a pint. Miller/Coors/Bud should never be even at $ 4 a glass. Their happy hour seems great(see my pictures for the happy hour specials menu!), but because it ends at 6pm, I can never make it there in time. Oh well. I’ll definitely be back for food though!

I went to the the grand opening tonight with a party of 8! We had a reservation and got seated right away, the service was more than excellent, Jen was our server and she took a perfect care of us even tho the place was PACKED and we were a bit difficult since some of us came late. the general manager came and greeted us as well and he was super nice. I had steak salad and the portions were very reasonable and the steak was cooked perfectly. Overall experience was very satisfying, the atmosphere was friendly and the staff is very professional.
