Republic Services of Bridgeton Transfer Station

My company paid Republic $ 400 in advance to have a dumpster delivered to a residential driveway. We ordered it on a Thursday. It was supposed to be delivered between 8:00 & 9:00 A.M. the following Tuesday morning.
When we arrived with a crew of three laborers at 10:30 Tuesday morning, the dumpster was not there. We did not receive any calls indicating that any problem occurred. There were no adverse weather conditions. When we called Republic, it took them long minutes to tell us what we already knew: the dumpster wasn’t delivered! Also, a dumpster could not be delivered immediately. We were then advised that the dumpster would be delivered by «about» 5:00 P.M. that same Tuesday, with no apology or explanation as to why the delay. We had to pay our crew for a minimum of one hour each, and send them home.
Republic stated they must be paid in advance for dumpsters or they might be stuck with a full one and have to dump it for free to get it back, which we understand. Despite us signing a contract to have it delivered when we requested, Republic stated they were under no obligation to meet the delivery time or even to call if a delay occurred. A simple, quick phone call to us explaining that a problem occurred would have saved us considerable trouble by knowing we would have to plan for a different day, and not have to inconvenience our laborers as well as have to pay them extra money for nothing.
We are going to file a complaint with the St. Louis area Better Business Bureau. If such a complaint is handled by BBB the way I have filed one in the past, they will probably state that since the dumpster was (finally) delivered, and that the contract did not state that a price reduction might be granted if it was late, that the complaint is resolved and therefore we must be satisfied. I wonder who you complain to if you are not satisfied with the BBB?
There are other dumpster companies out there!
