Smokey’s

I’ve gone to Smokey’s several times now. Each time the food has been really good!
The hashbrown casserole and cole slaw are DELICIOUS! I love that they have a kids menu for my kiddos too! My kids said the hamburger is delicious! On Fridays they sell smoked chicken and WOW is it juicy!
Portions are generous as well! The restaurant is always clean, the staff are helpful and will spend a few minutes thanking you for coming in and asking how you like the food.
p. s. Order a cookie too. They come out of the oven HOT and fresh and are AMAZING!!!

Third time is not a charm.
I went to Smokeys for the third time to see if it had improved. Needless to say, I won’t be going back. The pulled pork was dry as if it had been cooked the day before. I mean seriously there was not any moisture to it at all. Tasted like I was eating particle board. I personally save my drippings and coat my pulled pork so it won’t dry out. Not sure what these guys do. Also the employee that took my order seemed like she didn’t even want to be there. That was the final straw for me.
I really want to see smokehouses thrive and survive as I am also into smoking as a hobby but perhaps these guys need to check out Sugarfire Smokehouse or Pappys and see what it takes to make a smokehouse successful. There is nothing wrong with copying your competition but as far as Smokeys goes… they have to step up their game a bit and get some smiling employees as well.

Just got their pulled pork sandwich plate with BBQ beans and green beans. Really tasty and filling. BBQ sauces are very good as well! Definitely recommend this place!

I just got into town on a flight from Texas and wanted a quick lunch of Barbecue, and found Smokeys on Unilocal.Went in, was only person there and was met by employee at counter, I have to say, this was the most unfriendly, sour person that I have encountered at an eating establishment in quite a while and it really set the tone for a bad eating experience. As for the food, I ordered sausage, cole slaw and baked beans, cole slaw was good, baked beans were right out of the can and bland, sausage was a lot like a plain wiener as opposed to a good sausage link, and was served on a hot dog bun, all and all quite a yawner on the food, and staff that act sullen are just the combination for me not to visit again. There is a lot of competition out there and Smokey’s is just not up to grade, hopefully they will improve and become a contender in the BBQ field.

I have been to Smokey’s two times… we will absolutely be going back! Great atmosphere and the food is awesome! On our first trip I got a large pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw. It was wonderful! Food was fresh and very generous portions… And that COLE SLAW was the best! My second trip, thankfully, was on a Friday… smoked chicken special day! The chicken was juicy and very flavorful! Best BBQ joint in St Louis… hands down!
