I have been coming here for the past 30 years but lately I am finding the sandwiches are not up to the Steck’s reputation. Cold cuts are great but the folks making the sandwiches don’t listen very well. This is the third or fourth time I get back to work and find I did not get what I ordered. I’ll come back but be sure I will make certain I am getting what I ordered. Maybe instead of all the conversation behind the counter, the employees should pay attention to what they are doing.

I always enjoy coming here. Food is great, service is fantastic & it brings back memories. My father brought me here to eat a sandwich in 1962 to eat a grinder. He was German from PA, so Stechs always made him feel at home. The place is almost the same as I remember from 50 years ago! It’s great to have these homemade style delis, amongst all the crappy fast food Subways & Blimpies crap that has no taste.

Been comming here for years. Fresh cooked roast beef. Boars Head & Thumans. Great salads also. The fresh Russian rye is excellent and really makes the sandwich. Friendly and efficient staff, always helpful.

First time here and will not hesitate to come back if in the area again. Clean inside. Chicken salad sub and hot roast beef are great. I would absolutely recommend this place. I saw signs for breakfast well but have not had it. Service was great and food came out fast.

I love this place. I could go on and on about the Reuben, or the Sausolito turkey, or that grilled chicken thing they do with roasted peppers, but you get the point. This place is amazing.

If you have boars head posters and signs then sell boars head meat, don’t pass off second rate meat for higher prices, what a scam!!!
Bunch of Mexicans from Somerville or Raritan that can’t speak English making processed sandwiches, no thanks.
I wouldn’t recommend.

I had the Reuben and, man, it was completely delicious. Mine was pastrami and just everything I wanted. For $ 6.50? Such a bargain!
My only «beef» (pun intended) is that seating is in very short supply. 3 deuce high tables is all that’s available.
I can’t wait to go back again, and again, and again.

This is what New Jersey (tri-​state) delis are about. Grew up a town over and took this place for granted. Now every time I’m back from the west coast I make a point to get here. Stecks Classic Reuben is a must but all their meats are top notch. Make sure to grab some extra pickles to go.

This is hands down the BEST deli in New Jersey. I am not exaggerating, it is worth braving the somerville circle to come here, ANY TIME YOU CAN.
From 12 to 1 they are packed, and there will be a line out the door, but how can you really complain when you are about to get the best sandwich in the known universe. I have been known to drive 45 minutes in each direction to get a sandwich from Steck’s, so you could say that I am in love. But no matter what, the only important thing is that you come here as soon as you can.
I normally get the smoked turkey, but I have never heard anyone complain about Steck’s for any reason, so you can rest assured that anything you get will be awesome. They use Boar’s Head pretty much exclusively, so it’s the best deli meat you can get, and the bread is always delicious. I like the italian roll or the kaiser, but my boyfriend tends to get honey turkey on jewish rye. No matter what you get, it will be amazing, so COME TO STECK’S.

I stumbled upon Steck’s one day when I was trying to get to Panera. I know, wrong plaza. Your traffic circle is confusing Bridgewater!!!
I asked them to make me an Italian sandwich with no onions. The made this heaping sandwich on the prefect bread, loaded with meat and provolone cheese. It was delicious. I ate for two days. It did not get too soggy either because it wasn’t loaded with oil and vinegar.
I returned. I had a turkey club on rye. Also perfect. Roast beef and mozzarella. YES!
And the pickles, holy crap, delicious giant deli pickles! It is heaven.
These people respect my DO NOT PUT ANY MAYO on my sandwich request unlike my cafeteria at work.
Just eat here if you work in the area. DO IT!

Best deli in the area. Two high top tables inside. Basically for people to wait for food. Mostly a take out place. I have never gone for breakfast sandwiches but lunch is very good.
Pros:
Clean
Everything seems fresh including bread
Cons:
Staff not very friendly
It can take a while for sandwiches. Especially during peak hours. Best off calling ahead.
They have messed up my order on more than one occasion.
But again — great sandwiches and subs.

Great Fresh food and good quantity in sandwiches. Get your money’s worth.
HOWEVER, not the best order taking process. I rather they just WRITE the order ONCE, instead of keep asking/​confirming what you ordered through the process.

While this is one the better sandwich places around this area, it does not compare to some of truly great delis in NJ. I recently had a roast beef sandwich on a roll, while my wife had a pastrami sandwich. Both were okay, with more than the usual amount of meat a lesser place would provide. Neither the roll my roast beef was on or the rye bread my wife’s sandwich consisted of were all that great. The pickle slices they gave were fine.
They do have a nice assortment of eclectic sodas to choose from.
