The seafood burrito was good and the corn cake was awesome. Good size portions too. Gets real busy so get there a little early.

Really wish this was better. Went on a Friday afternoon hoping for some great Mexican food, however was severely disappointed. Facility is dirty, unkept inside and out. Walked by cigarette butts entering the restaurant and while inside two ants crawled all over my feel while I was eating. Customers in the booth next to me got fajitas and the smell of Burnt veggies was absolutely overwhelming! Smoke clouds engulfed our whole booth.

Nasty salsa was more like watered down salty red water could not find a whole chip in the basket got the combo uno plate evidently the only spice they use is salt salsa and the rice and the chicken and the beans and the entire plate was just a gross pile of salty garbage $ 30 down the drain. Took the left over(all most the entire meal) home gave some to my dog and even she would not eat it and this dog loves cat box treats. We would have done better to just go get some hot dogs from the home depot than to go there again !!!

Went on a Sunday around noon. Ordered coffee and got instant-1 cup no refills offered. Waited an hour and 20 for fajitas combo. Was about to leave and should have. What there was of the meat was HORRIBLE! No flavor and tasted freezer burnt. Mostly bland limp onions, not a char mark on anything. Appeared and tasted microwaved. Glasses and silverware were dirty. Service was ****. We will never waste time and money at this Brighton location again. Really Gross.

I don’t know if they have changed owners over the last year or so, but what a step down in all aspects. Food is so-so, and it appears a lot of the regular servers are gone. Cleanliness has obviously taken a turn for the worse, and it appears the Food has also taken a turn for the worse. We won’t be back. Been going here for years too. The Mexican place down the street seems better, and a lot cleaner.

Tough to screw up fajitas. This is how this place does it: they boil the peppers and onions and then just re heat under the meat. Bland, mushy, gross! So we tell our waitress that the onions are gross. She offers some caramelized onions. Same boiled onions, but deep fried. Über gross! Pro: waitress was nice. Forgot most things, but was nice. Chicken on the boiled onions was tasty. Chips stale. Salsa ok. Asked for hot salsa. Never came. Margarita just sweet. No fresh lime juice like advertised on menu. Oh, the tortilla soup was really good. Otherwise, stay away. Terrible.

I am completely confused by the bad ratings. My guess is that people who like to complain write more reviews. The place is always packed, the food is amazing, the waitstaff is awesome. The large nacho supreme feeds 4 people easily. We go here once a week(sometimes sneak in twice).

Not good! Food was not great, served luke warm at best and not what we ordered. Didn’t want to send back because it took so long to come, we just ate it. Never seen server again until he just gave our bill. Very upsetting dinner.

If you’re young with limited funds or just like the taco-bell level of Mexican food, this is your place… and this place certainly has a place with that crowd. If I was still in college, I would be all about it. Our service was actually very very good. We had a birthday party in the back area and the waitress was more than keeping up. It’s not a great gig to get, try to keep checks separate with ages 8 — 21 plus a few parents and she handled it very very well. and all of those kids were fine with what they got… The moms,(me), who expected, at least, a little better, didn’t eat or drink much of what we ordered. The meat with the fajitas is dry, the refried beans are straight out of the can, the sopas de frijolies is just so salty that no other flavor comes through. The margaritas are college-level,(watery and taste cheap)… The best food is the chips, guac and salsa so stick to that and a few beers and I think you’re good. This is also the only place around downtown Brighton where you ar going to walk in on a friday night and find room for 25, so there’s that…

A hidden gem! The portions are huge and the price is fantastic! Despite what other reviews said, our food was very fresh and delicious! The wait staff was friendly as well. We will definitely be back!

I want to start by stating that my husband and I have been eating here for over 15 years. This place was always our go-to Mexican restaurant. My husband prefers his Mexican food a little«American-ized» if you will. We always ordered the nacho or the fajitas. The nacho was always piled high with chips, beef, cheese, green onion, tomato and sour cream and guacamole. Perfect. The fajitas were always fast, large strips of chicken or beef and onion and green peppers. That was then and this is now. The nachos(which we haven’t ordered for over a year because they were so bad) are swimming in water at the bottom. Gross. So we started only ordering the fajitas. We have only gone about 6 times in the last year and every time was worse. The last time about a month ago was THELASTTIME. They have been giving less meat and LOTS of onion. You will be lucky to find 3 strips of green pepper in the mix. The meat is not consistent. Sometimes it’s extremely dry, sometimes the chicken is like rubber, sometimes it’s just ok and sometimes you get a lot and sometimes you feel like they are hoarding it because they might run out. The last time we went the chicken was super dry, but the worst offense of all was the shredded cheese on the side plate. I kept smelling something«off» at our table and then I decided to make a chip with beans and some cheese on it. OMG. The cheese was MOLDY. It didn’t have green spots mind you, but it had definitely gone sour. I almost gagged. I made both of my children a roll up with this nasty cheese. They are 2 and 4. No wonder they were hardly eating their food. Here I thought they were just being kids, but no, it tasted disgusting. I’m not one to complain or cause any confrontation. I just take my business elsewhere and after that experience I have finally had enough. Lastly, for at least five years now they can’t seem to keep the bathrooms clean. There is either no toilet paper, no paper towel, broken toilets, doors that don’t lock and it just looks unkept in general. If this is what the public sees I don’t even want to know what goes on in the kitchen where the public doesn’t go. We gave El Patron a try last night and they are LEAPS and BOUNDS better than this dive. Go there and it will cost about the same and will be much better food. At the very least go to Taco Bell before this place.

I used to go to their Novi location for years. I was so excited to find out they had another location in Brighton. Their fajitas are massive, enchiladas are quite delicious, and the best part: their corn cake. They have all around great food.

Whoever owns this place is clearly just letting it go. It needs major updating and repair. This location is a gold mine… I can’t imagine how successful it would be if they actually tried. Nobody who’s works here is over 20 years old and I’ve only seen a manager once. The food is halfway decent, but the only thing bringing us back is its practically walking distance from where we live. Sadly, this place will continue to go down hill.

I Have been coming my since I was really young; the service was fantastic back in the early 2000s but recently it has been bad. Me and my girlfriend went there on a wedsday at 3 and the place was empty. We waited 20min and no one ever came to take our drink orders we left and went else where. The food has always been good but I am so disappointed with what has happened to the service here.

Had lunch here today. The fajitas for lunch were delicious and a very big portion. The salsa is fantastic must be definitely made in house. Restaurant could be a little cleaner but the food was fantastic.

My wife and I ate lunch here in April of 2015. The place is run down, with mismatching light bulbs everywhere, missing or water damaged ceiling tiles, and in general disrepair and not very clean. My chimichanga was alright. It reminded me of the bland Mexican food that one gets in large portions at a low class diner in a tourist town, which probably came into the restaurant frozen. My wife ordered fajitas and said she hated it, and as a result we can’t go back. The service was fast, but not friendly or happy.

Holy smokes! Such rude, inattentive wait staff. They act like they are doing you a favor by dropping by your table at any point, while giving you the«evil eye» as you dare to ask a question. You have to flag someone down just to get served or the check! The food is not authentic or even at all good and the drinks are watered down. Easily some of the worst Mexican food I’ve had. I’ve been here a few times and it hasn’t improved. In fact, it’s continued onto its downhill slide into irrelevance by now. The cheese enchilada is too cheesy and soaking in grease, plus the rice and beans are soggy and taste worse than anything I could make at home. The place isn’t particularly clean, either. My drink had dyed-in lipstick stains on the glass(gross) and the flatware looked like it needed to be put through another dishwasher cycle. If you want surly service and mediocre food(at best), then by all means, come dine at Border Cantina. Stay away!

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this place because my experience here was really good. We got in around 7 on a Saturday night and there were a good amount of people there but it was still excellent service. I’m not easily impressed by service but despite being understaffed they filled our waters, checked our orders, and refilled our margaritas in quick, unpestering fashion. The food itself was tasty if not entirely authentic Mexican. The Georgia Peach Margarita was delicious and the Fajita Chima was Huge and delectable. If your appetite is not huge you might want to share an entrée or plan on boxing it. All but one table in the restaurant needed a box apparently. The atmosphere was aless classy than some Mexican restaurants I’ve been to hut that was trumped by the food and the service. This is the place for Mexican in Brighton area.
