Good coffee(best around). Nice staff. Wifi. Good place to kill time near the hospital, or to get in a couple of hours of work. Flies seem to love the pastries. Don’t let that stop you from getting the coffee.

This is a good coffee shop — def more on the 3.5 side. Sandwich was decent, coffee was good, crêpe was so good that I ordered another. People are friendly, including the patrons. Easy to find street parking. However, I continue my search for a coffee shop that feels more like a living room than a restaurant, and the noise level was more obnoxious than steady-background-noise. I reserve 4 and 5 stars for places where I can see myself returning — I probably won’t be back here, but it was decent!

Good hip local café. Good food, nice staff. Right at a bus stop(57, 501 and 503 buses) 65 and 86 half block away. Coffee to go! I drink hot coffee on the norm but if i get iced coffee, I get it from here. Cold brewed ice coffee! No watery taste. Nice place to meet someone casually or to surf the web. I recommend.

I had the rounder and an ice caramel latte this morning. It was tasty and hit the spot. Service was fast and friendly. Looks like a nice place to bring your laptop and hang out. Decent size when you go in.

I used to come here often. Last time I came with a friend, I ordered coffee, an omelet, a sandwich, and tea. When I went to go out milk in my coffee and asked for a bigger cup because it was filled with coffee. The girl at the counter gave me the worst look and told me to pay for a large coffee because they had to buy milk and it was expensive. Worst service ever which is really a bummer because there are some very nice people that work here. This girl ruined my experience here. Horrible customer service.

I work around the corner, so I have been here numerous times. There always seem to be people inside working, which gives the place a homey and comfortable vibe. They could use a bit of an update to the interior/exterior, but perhaps the hidden-grunge look it part of the vibe. Do not get any of the pastries. Terrible, and fly-ridden. As for the food — I have ordered anything from a bagel, sandwich or salad — and everything takes about half an hour. I just don’t get it. I ordered a salad at 11am. No one was in front of me… was he growing the lettuce and making the dressing from scratch? Sadly, none of it was worth the wait or money. However, the coffee and/or is the best I’ve had in Brighton. The barista’s know their stuff, too. Again, if you order a latte, expect to wait a few. Speed is not their strong point. Bee’s Knee’s latte is wonderful.

The omelettes are really good but over priced, it’s just an omelette not lobster or fillet steak.

CafeNation is a hip café in the heart of Brighton Center. The walls are decorated with a rotating collection of pieces from local artists and the background music is typically upbeat to spur on those productive juices. The coffee is expertly handled and prepared but if you prefer something else, there is a wide variety of truly choice and tasty beverages. CafeNation truly shines when it come to their food. From crepes to sandwiches to their signature salad dressing, this small business has remained a breakfast and brunch hot spot despite all the local competition. The fare is fantasticly consistent whether it’s a yawny Monday morning or amped Saturday brunch service.

The staff here are saints. Thank you for being so awesome and friendly! Had their chai cascarilla with almond milk, it was super delish. I couldn’t stay long, but I liked the atmosphere — quiet with nice music, and lots of people with their laptops and a big mug of coffee or brunch plate. Looks like a great place to study.

Dropped by here to for a late brunch and got our sandwiches to go. We ordered the Californian sandwich with bacon on focaccia and the Common bagel sandwich with bacon. Yum to both! The only downfall for both might have been the bread. I do love focaccia but the bread from here was a little difficult to bite into, causing all ingredients to shift to the end of the sandwich. And the bagel for the Common was a little soft and not as hearty as what we thought. Definitely needs Pavement or Kupels touch for the bagels. Place is really cute and small, and it seemed pretty busy, thank for we beat the rush. Service was pretty quick. Only gross part is there were flies on the pastries… So I probably wouldn’t recommend getting a pastry from here.

I recommend this place for the coffee and atmosphere but NOT the food. My drink of choice: The Bee’s Knee’s latte — so delicious hot or iced. Food critiques: 1) Their bagels are not well toasted, so it’s good to ask for ‘extra toasty’(or it comes out a bit soft). 2) I used to order their pastries until one day while waiting in line I saw how many flies crawled across them… SUPER gross. They need to put up some kind of barrier over the food to prevent this! An employee who was walking by waved her hand as if to scare them away but after she walked away the flies came right back.

Worst customer service experience. Had to wait 30 min for a single sandwich, which I couldn’t even eat because it was so bad. I checked my credit card statement and I was overcharged by $ 9.20, so I paid $ 18.40 for a lousy sandwich. The short girl at the reg is super rude! Acts like she owns the place, doesn’t realize that what she says over the phone when she«puts you on hold» is clearly heard. I asked for a manager and she goes, «someone wants to speak with the manager» in a sarcastic voice. I’ve been working customer service for over 3 years and I know when someone needs to go. She’s incompetent as she’s the one who initially rang me up, and her general attitude was almost as bad as the food I ordered. I just wanted the overcharged mulahaha back in my account. Update: Mike was super nice and professional. Will be getting a refund soon.

I have said this before and I will say it again, Absolute best Iced Mocha I have ever had! It is always consistant too… tastes the same everytime and that makes me happy. I have tried their muffins which are also yummy and large. They have a lot of interesting/different cream cheese flavors. I haven’t tried them yet but they sound good. Great coffee shop for people who like real coffee

Cute little café vibe with a. Friendly atmosphere. I would highly suggest this spot if you are a college student in the area with more than fair prices you can’t argue a choice like cafénation! I ordered a hot mint latte, my only possible way of describing the complexities of the drink is to state that it was completely bomb! The Rounder(on Jalapeño bread) — this is a combination of eggs and cheddar cheese freshly prepared. I would suggest this meal for a budget student only being $ 4 for a nutritional breakfast at a large size. The staff– I sparked up a conversation with the barista and was told the history of the café. Very respectful and lax employees. The service for a busy morning was outstanding receiving the food quickly. The verdict– I would recommend this café and will definitely have to stop by again when I’m in the area and try some more of their delicious drinks!

The usual story. Owner opens coffee shop. He works day in day out. His family works there. Things are awesome, food is great, service is amazing. He makes a bit more money takes a well deserved break and balances his life but food quality starts dropping and service is subpar. I used to go to cafenation every weekend and love it. Lately it’s been weird. The service is questionable and the sandwiches don’t taste as good.

Amazing ambiance. Friendly staff. Lots of options. Earl grey latté was excellent. As was the regular latte. Sugar free options which is great. Food also excellent. Spinach walnut salad has an amazing vinaigrette and is large for the price. Comfy chairs. FASTWIFITHATISEASYTOCONNECTTO!!! mid range prices– worth it. Crepes are delicious and wide array of sweet/savory options.

Delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries(bacon, eggs, avocado, and spicy aioli, YUM!). I have not tried their regular sandwiches yet but they look just as good. Excellent selections of teas and coffees, with the specialty Chai blends being one of our favorites. Seating can sometimes be at a premium, but people are usually very nice about sharing tables, which is a great way to meet new people! Staff is always very helpful and pleasant, they even laughed when they asked for a name and my husband said«Mr. Grey.» Thumbs up to staff with a good attitude!

Everything is good here! I have yet to try something I didn’t like! The iced mochas or the lattes are my fave by far. Even the food is out of this world and all reasonably priced. I love it because of the homemade goodness and you can tell your drink was handcrafted.

I just had the most delicious chicken pesto salad on focaccia!!! I know I have eaten food from here a couple times before and it was good, but for some reason I had kind of forgotten about Cafenation. What first caught my attention here is that they have crepes. You don’t see that everywhere, and the assortment has something for everyone. They have a ton of breakfast and lunch options. I also love that there is a choice of breads for their sandwiches– bagels, sourdough, wheat, focaccia, ciabatta, wraps. They also have a variety of beverages– teas, coffees, lattes, juices, sodas, etc. I got my sandwich to go and I was impressed by how quickly it came out, but also how nicely it was put together. I also loved that it came with a side salad and dressing! After my super sad Pavement experience I knew I had to find a great place to get fresh sandwiches, and Cafenation is definitely it!

The location is a bit out of the way and parking depends on street availability. Other than that, loved my experience here! There are a lot of drink options, including a wide range of tea based lattes. They also have a tea pot option for tea instead of just mugs. The baked goods are plentiful, ranging from muffins to croissants. There are also sandwiches and crepes. I tried the egg, onion, bacon and cheese omelette as well as the Brie and apple crêpe. The omelette was served warm at just the right consistency and the sourdough on the side wasn’t just fluffy — it was substantial, like real bread should be. The crêpe had just the right blend of tart Granny Smith apples and Brie, topped with honey. It wasn’t too heavy as there was just enough Brie for it to taste creamy. Would definitely go back again to try more of their crêpe options!

My feelings towards cafenation could be described in one very apathetic mehhhhh and a shrug. The drip coffee is straight BAD — like almost undrinkable how did they make this. espresso drinks are good, but they use an iPad app thingy for drinks and some drinks randomly have tax and others don’t, when there shouldn’t be tax on drinks in MA. Which bothers me because it just does. I mentioned this once to the girl working there and she gave me back a quarter and was like«oh yeah I’m going to tell my boss about that and fix it» but the next time it came it happened again… and I was like«there’s tax on drinks???» to which the girl working just responded«uh yeah.» Well, there’s not and this place sux anyway so I won’t be coming back. Plus all the art on the walls is ugly and it’s filled with college students and/or sad Brighton hipsters all the time.

I can now understand all of the positive reviews. This place is definitely above average and deserves 4 stars– mostly for the food. The avocado humus sandwich and the mango were both awesome(and honestly unexpected given we thought this was just a coffee shop for the most part). It’s a fairly spacious place, not huge, but just big enough to fit a descent number of people. There’s free street parking that’s pretty extensive as well which is a huge plus for all you drivers out there. The main drawback was that they closed at 6pm. We didn’t know this and went ahead and ordered/paid for food at 5:30. Once we found out they were about to close we were a bit annoyed, but since the food was so good we forgave them and left on happy terms :)
