I’m not sure where all of these 5 star ratings are coming from. In my experience, Paul does arguably adequate work, but takes his time in doing it. After providing an estimate on putting in a single door to my deck, it took 3 months before the work was actually «completed». The word completed is in quotes because I had to spackle the bottom of the door frame myself after he declared the job was done. During the three months, Paul continually put off and rescheduled the work on my house. After all was said and done, the work only took him two-​3 days, but there were month long breaks in between each visit. In the end, the price was merely adequate, the work was average, and the customer service, if that’s what you want to call it, was horrendous.
Given that most contractors get their work from referrals, I’d assume that Paul would put a bit more effort into maintaining his company’s image. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to recommend him if you need things done in a timely manner, and finished properly.

Our old kitchen counters were completely dreadful — fake wood formica, worn-​looking, and separating away from the wall, to boot. We called Paul and he came out the same day and sized up our situation. He gave us what ended up being a pretty accurate estimate for all the revamping work we wanted to get done. He lead us through the whole process of picking out some classy granite to match our cabinets, and when the big installation day came, Paul scheduled the electrician, the tile guys, and his own work for the same afternoon.
He was totally professional and nice about everything, and when the tile guys forgot to bring our new faucet the day of the installation, he even went and picked it up for us. The work he did was efficient and beautiful. I swear, I love our new counters, sink, faucet, and garbage disposal so much, that doing dishes is fun again!
One critique: Minus one star because he can be a little tough to get a hold of sometimes. I attribute this to how many projects he must be working on (I figure a guy this good is probably in high demand)
He certainly earned back that one star, though, because he helped jump-​start our dead car after we left it a day or two with the pilot light on. No job halfway, right?

I have no idea what Paul’s work is like because he couldn’t be bothered to even come over and give me an estimate.
I called him, then e-​mailed him pictures as he requested. Then I had to call him again to even get him to respond. He quoted me $ 400 for some ceiling water damage based on the photos. So I said okay and tried to schedule the work. He said he would come out either Monday or Tuesday to take a look. Said he’d give me a call to let me know which day. Then he never called or showed up. Guess he doesn’t want my money?
Good thing because I called another guy who did show up and told me it just needed a patch and paint.

Paul Bletzer, owner of Household Helpers couldn’t be a better choice for any household chores — small or large. Paul’s team gutted my bathroom and took it from tacky to tremendous in a few short weeks. Paul’s integrity was aparent to us from the moment he came to give an estimate until the last day. He’s reliable AND he goes to the stores with you to help pick out appliances, tile, whatever. For novices like us, this was a God-​send.
Even more amazing, he’s the only contractor who cleaned up after himself — EVERY DAY. Graciously, he took over for another contractor who realized the job was too much for him and he beautifully finished tiling our kitchen and doing all the plumbing.
Paul’s friendly and outgoing nature, coupled with his sincere desire that you love the finished product, and his very reasonable rates keep him #1 on my list.

The handyman at Household Helpers is Paul Bletzer and I endorse him because he has been doing an excellent job for us since several years ago.
What’s great about Paul is that he is a rare breed in the construction/​contracting world — he is honest and dependable. I don’t mean to be judgmental but I bet most people here would agree that your experiences with contractors in the past have typically been less-​than-​favorable. Well Paul is that anomaly in the construction services industry — our experiences with him have been only positive. He comes on time when he scheduled to appear for the job. He doesn’t make a deliberate effort to overcharge you or to tell you at the end that there is some additional cost, and he doesn’t overpromise and underdeliver. He is punctual, honest on the price, and delivers what he promised. He is also clean and considerate when doing work around the house. For example, instead of banging with the hammer while the baby is sleeping, he will go to another project in the house that doesn’t require loud noises and will come back to the original one when the baby is awake. You don’t need to ask for things like that because he does that on his own volition and he is meticulous to make sure that the customer gets a quality job from him.
