Lucas Coney had been forever my go to casual restaurant. The service had been slipping for a while, I couldn’t get a drink refill to save my life. LOL I’m a creature of habit so I continued to go there. However my recent experience was too much. My daughter and I had gone to Lucas for dinner I ordered my usual two coney combo. The server explained that it was after three so I couldn’t have the combo. I told her that was fine just charge me the extra money as usual. She explained to me how she couldn’t do that. That the old waitstaff use to make prices up. And the old waitstaff are all gone. Which makes me sad because they were great. Instead I ordered the Ruben. I probably could have used different words like please charge me the ala carte prices as the previous waitstaff but by that time I was tired of the conversation. Good news is I really the staff at Leo’s Coney by Target and it’s actually closer to me so win win.

Breakfast for me today was a big bowl of chicken noodle soup, it was perfect! Great service, great Christmas music. Thanks Lucas’

Horrible service. They are not friendly, never fill your drink cups and act like you are an inconvenience. In the winter, the servers smoke in the bathroom and hang out instead of checking on their tables. They never have soap or paper towel. Go to Greecian coney island or leos in Brighton. Well worth it!

Classic Coney Island food done right. Family owned business and every staff member is both friendly and courteous. All of the cooks are competent and know what they are doing and if Will is cooking then I guarantee that you will not leave unsatisfied. This is probably one of the best bang for your buck restaurants in Brighton. I am a regular and I have had the chance to try many different things on the menu. For breakfast, I would recommend the hungry man special #2. This massive portion of 3 pancakes, 2 eggs, amazing American fries, toast, and your choice of meat(I would go with the bacon), and toast is right around $ 5. You can’t beat those prices. For lunch/dinner Coney dogs($.99 every day) are always a safe bet as are the chicken strips(honey mustard is out of this world!). The smothered chicken breast is also another classic. Lucas has some of the freshest salads around and they also have a variety of salad dressings that are all great. Also, the dinner specials are usually really great and most of the ingredients are bought fresh and you can truly taste the difference. I would highly recommend Lucas if you are looking for a good cheap meal and also that old family diner experience. Great honest people making great food the right way.
