We really, really love this place. The scenery is gorgeous, there is always something going on, and it really encompasses all age groups. There is a huge wooden playscape for the kids, bathrooms right next to it(that are clean and well maintained!), and even a little reading area with books that you can choose to take home and bring back the next day. They have weekly reading times as well, weather permitting. There are plenty of benches if you just feel like hanging out and the little store across the street sells a 1 – 3 lb bag of duck feed for under $ 3. It’s right in the heart of downtown, so you have endless choices for food, if you’re hungry, and plenty of places to window(or actually) shop. Most businesses and restaurants are small — not chains — which is a +. It’s a beautiful area, parking is free and plentiful, and there are plenty of crosswalks. The farmer’s market held right down the street is huge and full of everything you’d ever want — and samples. Go!

My friend and I took a Sunday afternoon off to take some pictures for the Fall. We wanted a scenery that is urban yet incorporates the outdoors. We came across Mill Pond after cruising around Downtown Brighton. Mill Pond is a great spot for laid back and relaxing afternoons, see the sunset, walk along the bridge, pet/feed a flush of ducks(there’s a store across the street that sells duck feed for .50/lb) or just simply sit on the benches and enjoy the scenery. The park is great for people watching, meeting old friends, nature walks or just a break from shopping with an ice cream cone on one hand. Fishing is also allowed somewhere around the pond. We saw huge carps and whatnot. The park also has a children’s playground and also features crafty sculptures at the park from local artist. The concept is visually appealing and very intricate designs. The pond is also laden with a foliage of amiable flowers and abstruse plants. The feathered creatures are very friendly and domesticated. I would love to visit Mill Pond again over the winter.
