There are very few places in Boston that have cheap beer. Moogies is one of those few places. They have dollar PBR’s all day every day. If you’re feeling a little classier but still cheap you can upgrade to two dollar high life’s. The food is exactly what you would want from a place like moogies. Its cheap and delicious. They have specials all during the week including $ 2 cheeseburger subs and 50 cent wings. The hang over breakfast food is exactly what you need on a Sunday. It’s not over run by students despite being in BC land and makes a perfect start to a night out.

Quaint! Super friendly staff! Super cheap tasty Quality beers and great combo sandwiches at reasonable prices. I came in around 1:00pm on a Wednesday for lunch and had the place to myself! Staff came over chatted me up a bit which was nice. Classic rock on the music box. HD tvs.

The food is pretty solid and it’s a good place to watch a game. The waitstaff is never very friendly and always seems annoyed that they have to get up and help us. Worth putting up with that for the food and atmosphere, but could be a lot better if the waitstaff at least pretended to be happy we were giving them business.

Best atmosphere. Incredible service. Dope food. Fantastic Instagram. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The best sandwich is any sandwich. There are a lot of options and varieties for any taste that you are craving. Dollar pbrs too!

I love Moogy’s. It’s the perfect place to hang with your friends. The food is pretty good(primarily different sandwiches), and the prices are fair. They let you hang out and play board games as long as you want. I’m a regular and am happy to have such a good joint in my neighborhood. It’s no frills, in the best way! Definitely hit up their specials nights.

I love this place! As soon as you walk in you are immediately in a very cozy atmosphere. The wooden booths and small bar make you feel very homey. The food is clearly not for those on a diet, but boy is it good. I also love the creative names for all the food. Once your order your food and your $ 1 pbr or your $ 2 dollar rolling rock you can ask for a board game to play with your friends such as chutes and ladders, sorry, candy land, etc… This place is so fun and everyone that works there always seems to be in a great mood! I can’t wait to go back!

Love the charm of this location including the menu. My favorite isn’t available to say because I have too many favorites. The management offers board games to play while you wait for your food or just hangout and drink some beverages. I really like the unorthodox style to this restaurant. They seem to offer more than just grabbing a bite to eat.

While the atmosphere is a little dull feeling, don’t let that dissuade you from coming here for lunch or breakfast. The food is very reasonably priced and it taste pretty good. The people there were also very friendly to us. The fries were very tasty and our sandwiches tasted pretty good as well. I would recommend this place if you happen to be in the area.

I used to be a moogy’s regular back when I lived in Brighton. The subs are usually good, and they make some really funky ones if you’re feeling adventurous(try the phantom royal!). Breakfast is great too– I especially like how customizable their breakfast options are. Moogys let’s u order a side pancake of whatever variety you want(I like the banana chocolate chip). Not too sure why they have a bar because they usually close around 10, and I rarely see anyone drinking when I’m there. Anyway, the service is great, and they have board games too! Need I say more?

I always forget this place exists. But the food is pretty good. Breakfast has always been spot-on and the home fries are amazing. The space is a little small but I’ve always managed to snag a table. Have gone here to nurse a hangover and it was just what I needed.

Clever menu names + board games + lots of unhealthy food makes for a fun time. Their eggs/toast didn’t impress me on my last visit but I like the laid back vibe and am ready to go back give a sandwich and sweet potato fries a try… partially because their Instagram(@moogysgoodeats) is totally mouthwatering.

Moogys is laid back and casual. Always packed especially on the weekends. Typical breakfast foods. Good sweet potato fries and omelettes. French toast is okay. Seems kind of dirty but I guess part of the dive bar ish vibe. Lots of food for your money. Small bar selection. Big tables in the back are good for groups.

Yes, it’s cash only. Yes, a large sub can be close to $ 20. But guess what, it’s delicious and I’ll keep going for that. You can get delivery through Foodler and pay with a card if you really can’t be seen in public/don’t have cash.

I have been going to Moogy’s since the good old college days. I’ve never ordered something that wasn’t cooked how I wanted it or that didn’t taste anything less than amazing! Great prices, great food, enjoyable atmosphere and they always have great music playing. Not to mention if you need something to do you can play board games as you enjoy your food and drink. I’ve gone there friends and family and they all agree. Definitely a great spot in the neighborhood!

The food is markedly overpriced, greasy, and it’s cash only.

Update 3÷28÷2014: I am very disappointed with my experience tonight at Moogy’s. I am not one who is super concerned with germs and what not, but I was really grossed out with what we saw. We were sitting at a table near the kitchen, and I noticed the cooks using bare hands to cook and handle the food(both raw and cooked). I saw them handling my food and it bothered me, I was going to say something, but then I decided to relax. But then about 10 minutes later, they were dealing with the garbage, hands in the trash, taking out the trash bag, cleaning, etc. Then went back to cooking bare handed without washing hands. I also noticed them using and reusing knives on a variety of foods. I have food allergies and I am sure other people do too, and this is a recipe for disaster for others with allergies. I worked in a restaurant in the state of MA and we were required to wear gloves to handle the food and cook. I am really surprised and disgusted to see this! Please invest in gloves and take some time to be aware of other people’s allergies.

secret brighton hole endangered dollar beer here goodbye hangover There are many things about moogies that is unique to Boston, and my theory is that this is how it survives: 1. Pretty stinkin cheap food(daily evening specials, $ 5 lunch specials, breakfast all day) 2. Cheap-o beer and wine. $ 1 Busch light. And recently $ 3.50 Yuenling draft! They’re not a late night spot(closed by 10ish), but are great for pre-gaming and morning hangovers. 3. Games. They have game to play, if you want. That’s awesome! 4. TV! Watch what you want, no one is ever sitting at the bar. Moogies is serving the academic local crowd, and that’s how they survive. No frills, no late night, no early morning, just decent food and beer at a decent price. They recently went to CASHONLY.

I’ve been holding off on this review for a little while, mostly because I just didn’t really have anything that great to say about this place, and that alone was disappointing. I really wanted to like this place, so maybe I’ll give it a try again in the future… Anyway, the nice thing about this place was that they let me place an order for pickup just before the Super Bowl. I think in retrospect that should have been a sign, but since they’re right up the street and I like to walk, I figured it was just good fortune. The first thing that struck me when I walked in was how disjointed the space feels. The bar looks like something out of one of those Old West theme park areas you find at Six Flags, and the place is high and cavernous, making you really want to whisper. We weren’t staying but we weren’t sure where all the employees were, so we walked back to the kitchen. Our wings and fries were waiting, but they wouldn’t take our card, which was weird. I paid in cash and we were on our way. The wings were unanimously the smallest, least-meaty wings we’ve had. We wound up making a frozen pizza to make up for the lack of food. The pizza fries weren’t that great either, mostly because they had already congealed by the time we got home. I gave it a spin in the microwave, but it didn’t help that much. Oh, well. I may give them a shot in the future, just because they look very hipster and they’re close by.
