Platte View Landing

Platte View Landing is a small apartment complex that has some amenities and is quiet enough. It’s not a bad place to live, especially as a first time apartment dweller. It’s a slight bit cheaper than living in places like Denver and Broomfield, so this was my choice since I work in Boulder.
I do however, have some serious reservations about the staff and people who live here. For one, there is always trouble with my monthly rent. It’s only been right once. When I signed the lease the charges were itemized and included everything in the rent. Yet they tack on $ 25 for pet rent that was already included, $ 33 for water (never mentioned when we signed the lease), $ 37 in trash, $ 35 in sewage. The fees go up every single month when we weren’t told that was going to be part of it. Nowhere I’ve rented has ever done this, tacking on fees every month.
Need to call the office for something? Need emergency maintenance? Yeah, you better walk down there. They don’t EVER answer the phone. I called and left an emergency maintenance voicemail for mold that occurred when the wall leaked snowmelt into my closet. Nobody ever called back, I called that morning and no one answered. Finally, angry and sick, I walked to the office. I looked the office lady in the eye, dialed on my cell phone, and their desk phones were on silent. They don’t give a damn about running the business properly. I have basically no immune system because of health issues, and they just ignored my calls and left me with potentially dangerous mold in my apartment.
Maintenance staff is nice and courteous. When the office bothers to tell them where they need to go, they’re at your door in no time. The staff lacks a good leader who actually bothers to get things done.
The grounds? Disgusting. I have a dog, I love her to death. Apparently I’m one of the few who knows how to pick up dog poop and leash their dog. Citations need to be given to people who can’t be bothered to keep things clean and safe for all. Furthermore, there are not enough poop pick up stations. Some people are too cheap to buy their own poo bags for their dogs, just put them outside. It’s cheaper that way, instead of maintenance walking around with five gallon buckets and scoopers to pick up all the poop.
My final least favorite thing? There’s no parking. Unless you pay for it, you’re parking and walking all the way to your apartment in the snow. There are tons of people who have both a work truck and a personal vehicle and they are allowed to bring both home, taking up tons of space so that normal folks must cough up the $ 25 for a covered parking spot or $ 75 for a (non-​heated) garage. Once there was no parking left on a Saturday, so I had to park at the gas station down the street. Why can’t people that have work trucks with logos on them be forced to cover them up, put them away in a garage, or not bring them home to crowd the parking lot? It discourages bringing a work truck home by making it inconvient, worked in the last HOA neighborhood I lived in.
Those are just a few of my thoughts. I’m really not very happy with the whole situation but it isn’t the worst I’ve lived in. I will probably in the future reach out to Mission Rock Residential to complain if things won’t change, or won’t renew my lease next year if I find a house nearby.
