Tough Guys Snow Removal

We had a contract with Shawn to clean snow for the winter and gave him a deposit. The first two storms, he didn’t come as often as the contract says or do the things the contract says he’d do, and made lots of excuses. He didn’t show up for the third storm, refused to refund the deposit, and stopped responding to email and phone calls.

I would not recommend this company. Shaun sounded very professional on the phone and asked me to give him $ 150 deposit which I gave him. After the snowstorm I gave him 2 – 3 days to shovel out the driveway but he never came. I called him multiple times and left emails which he never responded to. After 3 months I am still trying to get my deposit back. Please, don’t trust him like I did.

Shawn and his team dug out my car right away. I wasn’t able to be home when they came but they were able to do their work anyway. No complaints. Shawn was super helpful and accommodating for me.

Shawn is a good guy, has always done us right with our snow removal. Yeah, maybe a few bumps and bruises but that’s to be expected in any business just starting up. Thanks for taking care of us. We got out of our driveway with no problem

Unreliable and not truthful. They have left us in the lurch even though we have a sick family member. I wouldn’t even recommend these guys to people I don’t like because nobody deserves such bad treatment when you are relying on people.

The Good: Shawn was really responsive by phone in getting me a quote, and the one time that his guys actually came to clean my driveway, it was done very well (although much much later than when he said they’d come). When there was a mistake on my invoice, he fixed it right away and was very nice about it.
The Bad: Despite promising to clean the snow every 4″, and to have it cleared in time for the morning commute, the snow piled up during both big storms this winter without anyone coming to clean. The second time, Shawn promised to have «his regular crew» come to clean, and no one came. Shawn did not respond to emails, a phone call, or text messages asking when they would come, and I had to hire someone else last-​minute to clean my snow so that I could get to work (5 hours late).
If Shawn sorts out his work crew and actually manages to send people to jobs, this could be fine, but as is, it’s not reliable and not a good bet. Look elsewhere for the time being.

I hired Tough Guys Snow Removal because I am in my third trimester and my husband travels for work, so I really needed help getting shoveled out, and knew it would be bad with the first blizzard of the year.
Well, this was a horrible decision. Their rates were unreasonably high, but I take some responsibility for that since I waited until the last minute. The biggest issue, though, was that when I asked for updates when someone would come by, I was consistently told that someone would be out soon (within a few hours). After three rounds of this foolishness (and a day of waiting!) I called and explained the urgency. What I got from the owner was a bunch of excuses and a clear insight into how badly he runs his business. It was obvious to me that he was extremely badly organized, and that he had at no point during our previous communications actually checked my address against an actual planned route.
If you are stuck with this company for a current storm, make sure you call, and write a follow-​up email with your address and your absolute deadline for being able to leave your house. Silly that you would need to spend so much effort getting someone to do something you’ve already hired them to do, but that approach worked for me.
The team of guys who did finally come to shovel me out did an ok job, but skipped clearing a path to our front steps. They didn’t have salt or sand to put down (which was explicitly stated as being included in the contract I signed).
I would never hire this company again — way too much stress for something that was supposed to be helping me!

LIARS AND RIPOFF ARTISTS!!!
I hired these clowns to do snow removal for my in laws who are elderly. (I live far away).
They promised to come 6 times throughout the night/​next day and do shoveling and snowplowing of the driveway, front and side stairs, and back patio. They came once and did a shit job. The cars were still completely buried and stuck in the driveway. Back patio had not been touched. Front and side stairs had already been done at one point by the tenants upstairs (which is not fair) so when tough guys finally came they ignored the stairs that had been snowed on again. They let no salt in the walkways, stairs etc. They were extremely expensive. They sounded so professional on the phone.
TOTAL DISASTER!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE ASSHOLES!!!
