Aside from the occasional tornado, Brimfield offers a variety of offerings to the casual life enthusiast. I recommend spending some time exploring this unique villa.

Brimfield is a GREAT town! We have a very school system; people here care about one another unlike many town around. We have a good rec program for our kids to play sports we also have a very good scouting program. True we do not have a movie theater or a lot of shops but strubridge and palmer are just around the corner. If you want small town life this is the place to be. You can have the cities all the crime and traffic.

I did a general search for anything listed near Brimfield, MA and found it hilarious that there was an entry for«Brimfield Town of». As a native of this small Massachusetts town, I couldn’t pass up the chance to be its first reviewer. Brimfield is a very small town of about 3,000 residents last I knew. It truly is the type of town where you know just about everyone, although it’s becoming subject to the effects of urban sprawl. Just talk to any life-long resident and you’ll undoubtedly hear some bitterness over the influx of yuppies with their BMW’s into what has long been a blue collar Chevy truck town. However, as I aspire to someday be a yuppie with a BMW, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing. It’s got a prime commuting location if you work in Springfield, Worcester, or Hartford, so the increasing number of city folk flocking to the area is not surprising. I’ve even known some people to commute all the way to Boston from here. A few fun Brimfield facts: 1) Back in the day(I’m not quite sure when we updated the system, but I figure until at least 1990) we only had to dial the last four digits of someone’s phone number to place a local call as we all had the same exchange, good ol’ 245. 2) I distinctly remember not having a street address when I was younger. All mail was addressed to RFD #2 and I guess the mail-lady just knew where we all lived. 3) Anyone reading this from the Brimfield of yesteryear will remember 245‑7222. That’s what we had to call in case of emergency because we didn’t have 911. 4) Brimfield and the surrounding towns are so small that 5 towns all attend the same public high school and my graduating class was still under 200 kids. Brimfield is certainly not the most exciting town, but it definitely has charm. People rave about the flea market(or Brimfield Antique Fair as I’ve heard it called), but that only happens three weeks of the year. So what’s there to do the rest of the time? As far as eateries, there is Francesco’s and Hooya’s for sit down service. Francesco’s is Italian and Hooya’s is diner food. I’ve been to both many times and enjoy them immensely, but I won’t go into more detail than that since this is not a review for the restaurants. Other than that, we’ve got two take out pizza/sub shops and that’s about it. There’s a few more offerings in Sturbridge to the east and Palmer to the west. Unfortunately, you have to drive 30 – 40 minutes in any direction to go see a movie, go to the mall, or many other things most of us consider part of our routine. Doesn’t really matter when you’re too young to drive, but kinda sucks when you’re a teenager/twenty-something looking for some excitement, hence why I fled town to go to school in Boston and am now hunkered down in Lowell. That being said, I do love visiting home and someday, if I ever have children, could certainly envision raising them here or in a town like it. Having lived in cities for almost 10 years now, I can now appreciate the quietness and isolation that Brimfield has to offer.

Oh, the good ol’ 245. How I do and don’t miss you! The five stars are tongue and cheek, of course!
