The selection is good, but what horrible management and customer service. They advertise things on sale with a sign, you get to the register and the price is double. Upon questioning it the attitude soars from the cashier who refuses to honor the sign with the sales price. When requesting to speak to a manager you’re told«they’re not here and I have no idea when they’ll be back, besides they won’t do anything for you». I said good customer service is key to a successful business and the customer is always right, to which they replied«not here they aren’t». Simple enough, I left the beer on the counter and walked out. Never will I return either.

While the liquor selection is great I have never seen worse customer service. I understand that liquor stores need to be strict on IDing college students but that doesn’t mean they need to be rude. Every cashier that I have had in this store has made me feel uncomfortable and not welcomed and look like they do not enjoy their job at all.

One of the benefits of living near the state line is that liquor stores on each side offer a few different items that you can’t get in the neighboring state. This isn’t the biggest liquor store around, you’ll have to cross the border and go to Yankee Spirits for that, but they do have a large selection, particularly of wine and craft beer. I’ve found some new craft beers for my husband here that I haven’t seen in nearby MA. There is one cognac that I can’t get in nearby MA either. The staff here is always very friendly and helpful, but if you need to get your Powerball tickets, look elsewhere. They don’t sell lottery tickets here.

1776 provided the booze for my wedding last summer and were excellent to work with. Prices were great, they delivered more beer when we ran out of a few kinds, and credited us for unopened cases of beer and bottles of liquor.

Definitely my go-to liquor store when I’m in the area. Great selection of wine and assorted spirits. 1776 also has a variety of glassware for said wine and spirits; everything from shot glasses to martini and margarita glasses. Have to disagree with a previous review stating a poor beer selection — I think they have a fantastic selection; they have my favorite Portuguese beers as well as a slew of my favorite local microbrews from the northeast. They even sell a nice variety of single bottles if you like to mix and match. Prices at 1776 are really great. The staff here is super knowledgeable. There is tons of parking. 1776 will continue to see me on my trips to the East Bay!

1776 is an institution for a reason. Thirty+ years in the biz means they have had time to grow to be the top dog in the East Bay area. That being said, while they have competitive pricing and a great selection for their liquors and wine, their beer section really sucks. The best part about 1776? They make gift baskets! Yes, gift baskets! They ask you what amount you want to spend, and they stuff the basket with a variety of adult beverages, snacks, and accessories in a festive arrangement. Ribbons, crinkled shred, a fun wicker or metal basket and shrink wrap. Very professional. Every time I order one I get gift basket envy! They always add some fun little bar tools. The service is top notch here, even if the beer selection is severely lacking.
