How to capture the essence of a place for canines that rivals Houston’s The Chocolate Bar for us humans? I’m not that good a writer, but here goes…
First, clever name and concept store. Regrettably at times, we humans tend to easily spend more money on our animal companions than our fellow man. So they win points on the sin big scale…
And I’ll have to come back to finish this… pooch has gotten too rambunctious… has to go… now after that leg up…
Second, they have a great selection of dog treats — they make their own (have to check on ‘vet approved’ status), they have free samples, they have nifty packaging.
Third, they offer a wide variety of dog leashes, collars, and dare I say… apparel…for males, females, and you.
(Here I digress necessarily … Note to Unilocalers, I have never dressed up my dog… won’t let my kids do that either… not even a sweater in NE winter. However, I’ve seen some hilarious canine fashionistas on the Bristol/​East Bay Bike Path — picture a toy Yorkie in a propeller beanie with sunglasses riding in a bicycle basket, proud, wind on the ears… funny but not safe… for dog or you as you might crash while laughing)
Fourth, loads of dog toys… creative stuff too that I’ve not seen elsewhere.
Fifth, several doggie-​themed paraphernalia choices from treat jars to dog dishes to bedding.
Sixth, they are right around the way from The Daily Scoop – a cone for you, a bone for the pooch, and a walk up the path. But not before the next advantage…
Seventh, they offer nifty disposable plastic poop mitts in a box just outside the door. Great to keep on hand – could not avoid the obvious pun — when you’re strolling about and discover you’re without.
Eighth, well-​behaved canines are allowed in the store. I’ve seen as many as three at one time… and It’s a smallish shop.
Well, I’ve tried to do this one much deserved justice. It’s worth stopping in here even if you don’t have a dog… because chances are you know a Unilocaler that does and you’ll want to impress the Unilocaler and the dog.
