Such an amazing place for coffee and pastries! It’s a beautiful place with great service. And they have sticky buns!

Decadent and terrific selection of pastries, includes donuts, muffins, tarts, pies, cakes, baklava(shock), various bars, cookies, brownies and the VERYBEST ice cream. I wish they’d give Baker’s Dozens(13) for the treats. We are really in need of fresh baked breads and croissants but they don’t do it here. There are not many European pastries or tea breads/cookies for people wanting less-sugary treats. Prepare to wait in the line, especially if you want coffee, but know it will be worth it. My iPad could not pick up the weak WiFi. Staff tries to be helpful, even though a few are clueless on how to keep a line moving.

My daughter loves to take me to this bakery every time I visit and it is very difficult to say no… It is a bakery that needs extra time so don’t be in a hurry… you will need it when you try and decide on how many yummy carbs you will want to consume as well as having to wait your turn… it appears to be a very busy place! Latte was perfect… they also have a very comfortable sitting area to hang out in…

Over the past several years, Blackbird has become one of the biggest local businesses in downtown Bristol. This accolade is well deserved. Blackbird is full of delicious goodies and is open 24 hours a day(minus Sunday). If you aren’t in a hurry, Blackbird is also a great place to eat. The bakery is huge and features new local artwork each month which creates a nice local feel to the whole bakery. Blackbird could not come any higher recommended from me.

Great coffee, we tried the cream cheese brownie and a doughnut and was impressed. Everything looked beautiful, impressive baked goods. Was not crowded on a Wednesday afternoon, but carry out traffic was constant. Had heard good things and understand why!

Ok, so this time I def wanted to remedy my regret of not getting a cinnamon roll. They are indeed very good! Also got 3 donuts, all outstanding. Loved the pink almond(white icing, pink almond flavored filling), and also the chocolate iced cream filled. One big drawback is that they barely put ANY filling in, but they were still that good! Oh, if only they had more filling, they might be the best of the best. Lemon bar and cookie just average. I think donuts are what they do best. Next time I might just try them all.

The bakery is absolutely amazing! The donuts are cheap, yet insanely good. The other pastries are beautiful to look at, but we get too stuffed on donuts and cinnamon rolls to try anything else. The other pastries honestly look like they’re straight out of a Paris bakery! The coffees are good, but depends on the barista. Still a #jacoffeefavorites though! Service is hit and miss and a little slow, but the donuts and the great ambiance makes up for it.

We arrived around 11:15pm on a Saturday and the place was hoppin’. Tables were filled throughout the café and the line was long. After having tried 4 different desserts(we couldn’t decide on just 1 each), I can see why blackbird bakery is packed probably all of the time. As out-of-towners, it will be a while before we return but only because the drive is 4.5 hours for us. Blueberry glazed donut: best blueberry donut I’ve had anywhere. A little sweeter than I like but the glaze looked and tasted like they use real blueberries to make them. The donut itself had a nice flavor and texture. Vanilla/lemon/coffee French macarons: the only 3 flavors left. They had a nice crunch to the cookies, which was great, but the flavors weren’t the best I’ve tried. A little bland. Strawberry cheesecake bar: not my favorite. Super dense and almost biscuit-like. Which I guess could be a good thing to some but one bite was enough for me. Crème brûlée: holy crap. Maybe I don’t have anything to compare this to because it was actually my first(WHYHAVE I WAITEDSOLONG) but the custard filling was absolutely delicious and so creamy. The hard caramel top wasn’t as hard as it should be, but it had also been sitting in the case probably all day. The first bite I had was a little off-putting because it was a tad too burnt but everything thereafter was heavenly. I used my finger as a utensil towards the end… New favorite dessert. We will recommend this place to anyone visiting the tri-cities.

Blackbird bakery is amazing! It’s in an old Masonic temple and they’ve got a great café feel inside. This is the place to go for any of your sweet needs. We had the maple donut, and a Bavarian crème donut accompanied by iced coffee. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. A real hidden gem.

How many stars do you give to literally the best donut you’ve ever had in your whole entire life? That many. That’s how many stars I would give to this bakery if Unilocal would let me award more than 5. I’m guessing it’s like 7 or something. Anyway, I digress. Omg, these donuts, y’all. I can’t even describe how fantastic the texture of these donuts is. Has the general feel of a Krispy Kreme, but denser and(yeah, I’m gonna say it) better. So much better. And better flavors even. I don’t live in Bristol, but now I have to go back there like 12 times to eat all of the things in this case that I want to eat. All we got were donuts, and I want more of them. Immediately.

I have sampled so many things in the pastry case on my visits to Bristol, I could write a book that would have you salivating in the first chapter. Recently, however, I tried my first doughnut. I am a fan of Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Doughnuts. Each have their specialties. However, the best Boston Cream doughnut I have EVER eaten(and I’ve had plenty), came from the Blackbird Bakery in Bristol, Virginia. It is the perfect density, not too fluffy, not too cakey. The cream to cake ratio is perfect, and the generous amount of chocolate on top makes the flavor combination irresistibly and delightfully delectable. The atmosphere reminds me of the Astoria Pastry Shop in Greektown, Detroit, Michigan, except Blackbird has more seating. The staff is friendly, even late at night or in the wee hours of the morning, since they are open 24⁄6. They are closed from midnight on Saturday through Sunday. Everyone needs a sabbath. There is often a line, especially during festivals or downtown events, or when King University is in session. It is a definite college hangout, but be patient. It is well worth the wait.

My first trip to the Blackbird. I had a selection of goods to eat there and took a few with me. All were excellent. I will be back.

I flew in from LA for a college reunion, and landed in Bristol with nothing but pastry on my mind. I drove well over the speed limit all the way up 81 from the airport, because I needed cake in my life, STAT. I ordered the Red Velvet Cake AND an Individual Cherry Pie. I can say, without reservation, that it was the lightest, fluffiest, most perfectly sweetened Red Velvet Cake I’ve ever had. It didn’t feel heavy at all, which was dangerous because you could feasibly eat 6 of them before realizing you’re not going to be able to stand up with your pants buttoned. So very, very delicious! The Cherry Pie was a gamble for me, because as a rule I don’t like Cherry Pie. Blackbird bakery broke that rule. It was so good. I also stole some of my friend’s blueberry bar, and immediately put it on my «Must Have» list for next time. Thank you, Blackbird Bakery, for giving Bristol an alternative to Krispy Crème, and for being open late at night for those of us who frequently wake up with a dire need for pastry. I will see you in my jammies sooner than later!

Blackbird Bakery is a great little place! The stunning space takes you back in time with gorgeous hardwood floors, a tall staircase, and beautiful furnishings. I came here with six family members, and it was a great place to spend time together. I ordered a very tasty mocha along with a decadent chocolate peanut butter layered bar. Mmmm mmm! I’ll definitely be requesting to return to Blackbird the next time I’m in Bristol.

Part 1: The Donuts Most people who know me know that if I was to willfully die by eating a food, that food would be donuts. In other words, I LOVE donuts. With that being said, I would like to uncategorically state that Blackbird Bakery has some of the best donuts I’ve ever tasted! On this occasion, I chose for my first visit to Blackbird the following donuts: Cake Glazed(5⁄5), Yeast Glazed(5⁄5), Orange Glazed Cake(4⁄5), Pumpkin Cake(4⁄5), Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter filled(3⁄5) I’m a huge Peanut Butter fan and in fact, if a menu has a peanut butter dessert, I will choose it 9 times out of 10. I say this because I was disappointed in the peanut butter filling in today’s donut. It had a flavor I couldn’t place in the filling that was not my favorite. I couldn’t even eat more than one bite. It might be that I prefer Peanut Butter filling/icing to be simple. Part 2: The Coffee I’m a coffee snob. There I said it. My wife often complains at the number of coffee producing devices that litter our kitchen. But I don’t let that deter my obsession. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the coffee served at Blackbird(Dark Hallow Micro Roasters). I ordered a simple black coffee and opted for the Dark Roast. Very good(5⁄5) My donut rating explained; 5 = I will order this donut every time I visit and will tell everybody about it 4 = I will order this donut if really hungry or if no 5’s are left 3 = I might take a bite if someone I’m with orders it 2 = I will never again order this donut 1 = I will actively convince others to not order this donut.

Yum and yes! If you’re in town vacationing or a local — this is the best bakery in town. I was lucky enough to be out for the race earlier this year and got our group a ton of goodies — so yes, I pigged out! From their donuts(cookies and cream) to their cream-heavy cupcakes and their pastries, we loved everything. Good coffee too. Definitely a place I would check out for a morning pastry and some work. There is street parking and even though I had a navi system with me, I drove by it the first time. Good pastries, a little on the pricey side(but they also have a monopoly on fancy, baked goods)

I wish we lived in Bristol. Or that there was one of these in Asheville. A quality bakery that is open 24 hours. Genius! The girl behind the counter was awesome. She even made a fresh carrot cake cupcake for my husband. Which was perfect by his carrot cake standards. He also had a peanut butter no bake cookie because how can you not? It was great. I ordered the chocolate dream cake and WOW. I have never had anything so creamy and chocolatey. It was similar to a tres leeches cake(milk cake). The cake is super moist and yes, milky. It’s incredibly decadent and topped with creamy goodness and crumbled cookies. I wish I had a piece right now. The place is so gorgeous inside! It’s very open and inviting but also intimate at the same time. The vintage baking décor is adorable and witty. They’re even playing old music to give an overall antique experience. It’s awesome that Bristol has such an incredible business growing here! This will be a regular spot for us when we are in town to visit family. If you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out.

We made the trip over to Blackbird to pick up some sweet treats this morning. Located in downtown Bristol, I can’t say much for this particular street, as it looked mostly devoid of businesses but the bakery was a sight for sugar sore eyes. It’s a cute shop with glass cases exhibiting row after row of mouthwatering sweetness. We selected the coconut filled donuts, Bavarian cream filled donuts and a dozen of the glazed holes. Once home, we dug in to the delightful bits. I found the coconut donut to be good yet overly sweet with a grainy texture; as if filled with frosting. Not for me. Next, in line was the chocolate Bavarian crème filled donut. Now, I have had a love-affair going with éclair-type desserts since childhood and have quite a bit of eating experience in this area… Their«Bavarian crème» is of the pudding-like custard variety, which is my favorite, but typically donut custard isn’t considered a Bavarian crème so I did have to ask the girl for clarification. The donut was topped with a chocolate ganache. I could peel it right off. It was good but dare I say it… ordinary. The holes were just holes. Also, unmemorable. Although I found this bakery to be cute and completely necessary, it failed to impress me with its donuts.
