«How was everything?» the manager asked at the register. «Fair,» I responded. A proactive manager would take the patron to the side with the goal of remedying complaints, for nothing more than to increase revenue. But not this guy. He just said, «oh» and handed us our change. If you have an affinity for Mexican food, this place ain’t for you. The salsa is soupy and bland.(To their credit, chips were warm and tasty.) T and I each ordered a chili rellenos. Where’s the chili pepper? One measly slice under what I think is a chili concoction, covered with cheese. Though there was no pepper, the gloppy mixture was kinda good. T. ordered an enchilada. I ordered a quesadilla. They looked the same. I can’t help but think that no matter what you ask for, you’ll get a cold tortilla filled with stuff.(Surely, the chef isn’t Mexican!) Frozen margaritas could use a bit more flavor, and weren’t half bad. But will we be back? No way, Jose.

I ate here under the assumption that it would be at least average americanized mexican fare. My waiter did not know anything about the options on the food or drink menu. The Pollo Tropical is just unseasoned flattened chicken topped with melted cheese and pineapples. The owner is nice, so I’m hoping this was just a fluke. I don’t think I will be returning.

I ate there with some cousins a little over a year ago. It was standard Sysco Mexican, which you find in Mexican restaurants all over and the quality and taste is pretty well the same if prepared properly — thus you get the predicability that you get with national chains. Always a good value for the money, and the food is acceptable. Menus is pretty well standardized Sysco — I almost always get the lunch special number 1(sometimes preceeded by speedy or some other adjective) — a chile rellano, beans, an enchillata, and a guacomole salad with a side order of pico de gallo. I’d go back.
