The creamery’s location moved from the last time I was here. Now they are located in the Irish pub at 90 Lake St, Bristol. It was a little hard to find, and they were out of raspberry cheescake ice cream :-(. We decided to try the pistachio and black raspberry and they were both very good. Apparently the family that runs this makes their own ice cream using their own cows! They get 5 stars for some great ice cream and lots of choices, but –1 for being hard to find. I think they are looking for a better location though.

We ate at the nearby Big Catch restaurant — wonderful lobster rolls and whole belly(ie, Ipswich-style) fried clams — which had a pretty enticing dessert menu. But we’d seen the Newfound Creamery(named after the nearby lake) on the way in, and decided we’d give it a shot instead. And we were glad we did. The Newfound Creamery has a wonderful selection of ice cream flavors, gelatos, and sorbets, and every one we tried was delicious. They have a berry/cabernet sorbet that’s excellent — definitely ice cream for adults. A little pricey(though not atypically so – it still strikes me as odd that a small serving at an ice cream shop costs as much as a pint of premium ice cream from the grocery store…), but generous portions. Recommended(though I bet the desserts at the Big Catch are probably pretty good, too…)
