Went on an early Friday evening. The staff was friendly but it took a good while for our food to come out even though we were the only customers in the place. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I loved my meal. Awesome burger! However… my fiancé ordered barbecue and just like the other barbecue we’ve tried in Oklahoma(sorry, we lived in Memphis for 27 years), it tasted like meat cooked on a skillet with barbecue sauce thrown on top.

Chicken. Fried. Steak. Tender meat. Nice thick breading. Good gravy. The Anchor could use some love, but don’t let the non descript exterior fool you. The interior could use some of that love too, but you can still imagine what it might have looked like in it’s hey day. We stopped here while driving home to Phoenix from Cinci. Just wanted to get a bit of route 66 flavor. Something that didn’t involve Golden Arches. My expectations weren’t high as we pulled up, but once we went inside and ordered, Nana sent out some chicken fried steak heaven. And when we declined the fried okra, she threw in some onion rings with our fries to make up for the lack of vegetables. :)) And those were mighty tasty onion rings. nice beer batter! My only regret is that I couldn’t finish the two large steaks that were on my plate. Damn that little salad that came before the CFK! If I had skipped it I could have squeezed in the last of my steak!

Good burgers and shakes. Enjoy a coca-cola with crushed ice. Sits on historic Route 66. Been there for many, many moons.
