My first experience with Stadler was OK. I told the lady at the desk what I wanted, she took me around and showed me various plants and I did find something I liked based on the information she gave me, the most important of which was that they would stay a small size. They were on sale and the price was really good, so I bought them, took them home, planted them and all was well until a little over a year later, one died. So, I went back to them. Took a long time to actually find an employee. Didn’t seem to be anyone inside or outside. Finally, a lady showed up, but didn’t seem at all happy to see me or assist me. I told her about the shrubs I purchased from them and that I needed to replace one that died. I did not know the name of the shrub and described it as best that I could. She looked at me as if I had two heads and told me she had no idea what I was talking about, but I could look around and see if I could find it. At that point, I just left and went to Merrifield Garden Center and described the plant to one of the many people working outside and she said she knew exactly which one it was and took me right to it. The only other complaint I have with Stadler was that I was looking for a shrub that would remain small and was told that the type I purchased would do just that. Unfortunately, the third Spring after they were planted, they started growing and growing and growing. So much so, that they grew together despite being planted fairly far apart. Now, I have to go out every year and cut them back with an electric hedge trimmer which is not what I wanted and since they are an evergreen variety, they don’t really look very nice afterwards. It has become obvious at this point that they will have to be removed and I will have to start over. Total waste of money.

I recently stopped here on my way to Lowe’s to get some flowers for our front porch. The lady who helped me was very polite and actually walked with me to help me find the right plants. She insisted on carrying the plants to the register and packaged them so they would not leak on my car upholstery. Now THAT’S service! There was a sale going on, but the regular prices seemed very reasonable. Can’t wait for Springtime so I can visit again!
