The Backroads Cafe

This is a decent restaurant. The folks who run it are super friendly and provide top-​notch service. They also make really great sweet tea!
I got a burger and my husband got the chicken fried steak. Both were okay; nothing overly special, but certainly fine enough.
I really think they should think of a couple OUTSTANDING (and creative/​different) apps or entrees to put on their menu; food that will knock our socks off — because they need something to set them apart (besides the sweet tea), even if it’s just great homemade wedge fries or a super juicy burger. Otherwise I’m afraid they won’t make it, and that’d be a shame because again, the folks are great.
We will try this place again if we’re ever running through Brock again.

We stopped here on the way to west Texas because it had great reviews and it wasn’t just another chain restaurant. I wish I could say I enjoyed it as much as everyone else. The workers were very friendly, but we ended up waiting about 45 minutes for our food. That wouldn’t have been bad, except there were only two other couples in the whole place. The waitress told another table Friday mornings are a bad day to eat there because they make a lot of Togo orders that day for the schools, and that their food would be out as soon as all the Togo orders were done. Personally I find that completely unprofessional. Customers that are eat in should have priority over to go orders, or at least be informed that their meals will take longer than normal BEFORE they order. Normally we don’t mind waiting, but it was lunchtime, and that should be a time when they are fast about things. Everything else was pretty good. Food was fresh. I just couldn’t give a higher score because i thought that was pretty unprofessional.

I was just in town for a few days and looking for a local restaurant. The burger I had was very good and if you are looking for a small local place with good people and good food you have to try it.

Really really good but feels like your gotta work a ton of OT to pay the meal but I did enjoy the back road salad

We have enjoyed Backroads with our kids many times. Great service, excellent and fresh good and relaxed atmosphere are reasons we continue to return. Super ice cream also! They have recently extended their hours.
