We come to Brockport from Rochester for some Jimmy Zs every month or so for the garbage plates. Owners are nice, atmosphere is friendly and casual and we are never disappointed with the food.

Prices are fair, portions are generous, and food is above expected quality. The owner and his father know how to run a business quite well. If this is your type of food you can’t go wrong stopping here.

I like garbage plates quite a bit and I’ve had them it almost every place around the Rochester area. I would say Jimmy Z has about the best plate in the area especially in regards to consistency. They’ve messed up my orders a few times but I can’t even remember how many times I’ve been there, so that’s to be expected. They don’t skimp on the quantity and the Mac salad is very good for a burger joint. It does get busy especially during Prime dinner and the expected times. I haven’t had everything on the menu but I’ve had an awful lot of these selections and everything so far has been good I just wish they had actual cheese curd for the poutine instead of mozzarella cheese LOL.

So I did like the local people do and had a Garbage plate. It was as good as it looked and I’m full. I expected the local people to be fatter due to this cuisine but they are all average size. It must be health food! I may move here for this.

Love the hotsauce and Papa Z! The burgers, hot dogs and hot sauce are so good. The poutine is fabulous. My hubby loves the chicken sandwich and my son loves the wings and wing sauce. The plates are delish and very generous. I’ve not eaten the fish fry but have seen people order and it was BIG. I want to try other things as the menu is gianormous, but mostly I am stuck on anything with the hotsauce. Try it!

I have family around the Brockport area and I always get a garbage plate here when I visit. I live over an hour away, and it is the BEST garbage plate around. All the folks living around Rochester knows Jimmy Z’s is awesome. Thank you and keep up the good work! Yum!

I’ve been to Z’s lots of times and finally wanted to write review. First off, customer service here is awesome. The two guys(assuming co-owners) are always welcoming and ask how everything is and will go out of their way to make you happy before leaving. Secondly, it’s all about the food. Generous portions, with more options to choose from than you’d ever need. The garbage plates(my favorite is the«B-Lo» hybrid plate. They are consistently reliable with providing good tasting food, in a generous portion, the way you want it, or a price even the college-age student can afford. Is it the best garbage plate in Rochester? It’s voted the best, it may be the best(I’m not really sure) but I’ll tell you one thing– it beats the other ones I’ve tried at other places and I keep coming back for more to Z’s. That’s enough of me talking about jimmy Z’s. If you haven’t been there, you need to give it a try. If you’ve been there then you already know what I’m talking about.

Cool place! I love greasy spoons & the décor is great too, lots of rock memorabilia and a lot of it is 80s rock memorabilia! And they play lots of 80s rock over their PA system! Had a hamburger & a dog with Texas sauce — VERY good stuff! Fries were good as well! If you like a dive that’s nice & clean but has fun ambience, this is it!

Once again, great friendly service, good food, clean environment. I bring the whole family here and PaPa Z always takes good care of us.
This place will always serve as a memory for my college career. Jimmy Z himself is awesome, and he really cares about his customers! I know some of the workers and cooks, and they are very dedicated, and even close friends with the owner. This place is loyal to Brockport and its customers. The best time to eat jimmy z is late night, in my opinion. I typically get it after a fun night of going out, or when I am craving something greasy and delicious late at night. Its slogan, «2 am. run 2 Z’s,» is as real as it gets. I am not a big fan of garbage plates, but I really love their«munchy combo.» I am so picky, I hate mushrooms, I don’t like pizza logs(I know, who doesnt like pizza logs right?) and they always accommodate me by changing my order to add things I like. On the weekends this place is PACKED. You will wait for food in a sea of people, but it will be so worth it. Jimmy hosts really fun activities such as free ice cream day, ice cream slushies, cake for customers, and thanksgiving. You have to try it! And while you are waiting check out the really cool magazines and photos on the wall, and pet his cute dog!

The 5 star plate is awesome, and cheap compared to what other places charge. The Mac salad is great to, not some mystery Mac salad that you get with most place that do plates. Def recommend Jimmy Z’s

Stopped here when I went to visit my family upstate for x-mas. It’s definitely a small town place. I think it’s good for upstate but definitely not big city quality.

Best garbage plates on the west side! Any time I am in Brockport I have to stop in and get one(mac salad and home fries). Lots of interesting food combinations, it’s sure to have something for everyone. They serve ice cream that is out of this world. I had the new cinnamon toast crunch sundae and it was unreal. Jimmy knows a thing or 2 about food! A must stop if you are in Brockport.

The College-Town Dive… As an Art Form. Every college town has one — a little place that offers inexpensive meals, with late-night hours, slinging American favorites like burgers and fries at hungry college kids and tipsy townies. Rarely, however, is this staple of American fare done with such quality, value, and creativity. If you’re looking for good burgers, fries, wings, and dogs, Jimmy Z’s has them in spades Every item offers real bang for your buck. They also offer pulled pork and tortilla bowl salads, if you’re not a burger joint person. Jimmy has gone a step beyond that, however. The menu also features some innovative combinations and dishes that, as I said above, take the typical fare and elevate it to something interesting and different, all while remaining within the«theme.» Some favorites — The Superfreak, a bacon cheeseburger topped with macaroni and cheese bites; The Dr. Feelgood, a bacon cheeseburger topped with waffle fries and nacho cheese; The Fat Farm, a cheeseburger topped with two fried eggs. Of course, if you’re hungry, or just ambitious, there’s the«5-Star Plate,» one of the best interpretations of the classic Rochester Garbage Plate ever, or the Jimbozilla, which is mac salad, french fries, tater tots, a cheeseburger patty, a chicken finger, and crutons, all topped with gravy and melted mozzarella cheese. Yes, all in one dish, for $ 7.25 at this writing. It’s not just dinner, though. Jimmy Z’s offers a large variety of desserts, including ice cream, milkshakes, and our favorite, fried cheesecake bites. For the kids, Jimmy Z’s also offers great kids meals, with ice cream. The service is friendly, and the place has a real neighborhood feel. Jimmy or someone from his family are almost always there, and they get to know their regular customers by order after only a few visits. The décor is worth a visit if you like sports, rock and roll, or just fun memorabilia. Stop in and you’ll see. My son summed it up best on a recent visit: «Dad, we’re lucky to have the only Jimmy Z’s in the world here in Brockport.»

Oh the drunken memories of undergraduate life at dear old SUNY Brockport. Chances are if you went to any off-campus parties while attending Brockport. you also somehow ended up at Jimmy Z’s between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4 a. m…And mysteriously, whether you had money or not, you also ended up with a garbage plate. It could have just been because we were sleep deprived and too drunk, but my roomie and I always thought that a garbage plate of chicken fingers, mac salad and home fries was the most delicious concoction. Now with the tag of good food for young drunkies… you must be wondering what this place is like during the daytime? Actually pretty decent. During the summer, Jimmy usually had specials for free or cheap ice cream(which my roomie and I also indulged in) and his prices for«hots» and burgers were always pretty cheap from what I remember. It was a decent place to sit around on Main Street once the weather got warmer. Jimmy and/or his dad are usually around. They are both pretty nice guys. This place is booming on weekend nights but very quiet during the day. So, if you’re going off to college at SUNY Brockport, you might as well go down to 53 Main and introduce yourself now!
