Up until now if anyone had asked me if I would ever rider anything other then a Ducati my answer would have been no, however do to my current experience I m at the point where if feels like the pain and aggrevation is not worth it.
I had some starting issues with my 1198s and took to Dunbar Euro-​Sport (a ducati dealer) to have it repaired. They replaced most of the starting system including recomending that I replace the side cover with what comes in the later models of the 1198 because it supported the pin on both sides as oppose to just one side and would prevent future problems (A $ 900 PART), BUT FAILED TO TELL THAT I SHOULD REPLACE THE STARTER CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE (A $ 150 PART). I paid them $ 2800 and 4 months and 1500 miles later the bike is in the shop with the same problem. I lost confidence in Dunbar and took the bike to Cycles 128 (another ducati dealer) to find out that ducati will not even cover the starter clutch that was bought new and installed 4 months ago because the pressure plate was not replaced.
Now I m not a technician and I put my trust in one of your dealers and maybe that where I went wrong. I would think that if i was willing to spend $ 900 on his recomendation to replace the cover It would make sence that I would spend another $ 150.
Instead I weas not advised to replace the preasure plate and I am now facing another $ 1500 repair bill.
