This is for the River Walk cabin. I wasn’t going to post anything as I don’t like to hurt small businesses, but the owner Dana’s behaviour throughout and her rude text message made my mind up for me. Here’s what she sent me. «Hey Dana here, the cabin was left extremely messy, so disappointed, do not rent one if my cabins again. Food in the floor, cooktop left unclean, grill a mess,…» Firstly, they pre-charge a $ 60 cleaning fee while booking. What is this fee for if not for cleaning the place? Regardless, we spent about 3 hours on the day of the check-out cleaning up the place. We cleaned the toilets, we picked up all trash and wiped all counter tops. The only thing we didn’t do was vacuum the place, which would be outrageous to expect guests to do. All this while we were hurrying to get ready to meet the 11 a.m. checkout time which was been posted all around the house. This is harder to do when there are 8 people and only 2 bathrooms and only one of those bathrooms has a shower. The other bathroom only has a bathtub/jacuzzi, the less said about that the better. The jets have amazing power, if you can stand the dirty smell that emanates out of it. Regarding the cooktop, if anyone has used a flattop, you know how difficult it is to clean. This cooktop already had stains from prior use and we still did our best to get off as many stains as possible. Also, we couldn’t find a cleaning brush to clean the grill, we used kitchen rolls to get as much gunk off it as possible. We only used the grill a couple of times and then put it on the cleaning mode, but couldn’t do it as the gas ran out, which tells me that we didn’t get a full tank. So, now that I have addressed her issues, let me come to mine. The website promised Wi-Fi in the apartment and there was none. If you have a job that doesn’t allow you to go 3 days without at least checking in once in a while to see how things are going, then you know how stressful that can be. It was one of the main reasons, we chose this place among others. I have already mentioned the lack of bathrooms/showers. We were promised a canoe and kayak as part of the cabin, but because of the weather and the overflowing river, we didn’t get one. This is fine, as it’s not their fault, but she’s still saving money which can go towards her cleaning and earn us some goodwill. We didn’t demand a refund because we didn’t get to use the canoe. All of my issues above are with the owners and their behaviour. The place itself is very beautiful and affords a gorgeous view on to the lake through 2 decks. Sadly, one of these decks was completely submerged due to the rains.

We stayed in «Honey Hole» cabin the weekend before Christmas 2014. The cabin was nice but, you could tell it had been poorly maintained and was not clean. The dishes in the cabinets had a greasy film and dried food particles. The hot tub had a really funky smell that we noticed on the 2nd day. I got a really painful skin infection from using this hot tub. I’ve stayed in several cabins in Beavers Bend and they have all been great but, this was way below par. The manager agreed to refund the $ 60 cleaning charge and one night rental but, did not follow through on her promise. These people are super shady! I will not be using this rental company in the future. Buyer beware!
