Great lil roti shop to go. Beef and pumpkin roti is delicious and inexpensive. Give it a go.

After looking at a picture of their veggie roti on Unilocal,I HAD to have one. Ali’s Roti Shop is like eight minutes from me. The roti was large for $ 6.00 and was delicious. Didn’t ask what was in it. I think it had pumpkin and mashed curry chickpeas. I’d definitely come back.

Their doubles are horrible. Bara had no seasoning and tasted like they reheated them. The channa was undercooked. I asked for pepper, and got no pepper. The nice lady saved then from getting 1 star.

Only cash, no credit cards or apple pay here, and no table service. Order to go or sit on one of the stools. Tried their doubles, they aren’t greasy like other places, which is nice but they could’ve used more filling. I also ordered the oxtail and bussup shut(paratha). The oxtail, which was mostly gravy and bone, comes in a circular aluminum tray with a flimsy plastic cover, needless to say by the time I got home most of the gravy leaked out and was soaking through the paper bag and pooling at the bottom of the plastic bag! That left me with a few small pieces of meat to go with my giant bussup shut. The meat is sparse but tasty enough but they really need to be more generous with the meat and start using plastic containers. The total came out to $ 11. There’s only one other west Indian place nearby, Feroza’s. Slim pickings.

I got the Curry Chicken(no bones) Roti and it was good! Very filling and the portion was huge(for me it was 2 servings). It could have used a little more seasoning for my taste buds though. Next time I go, if in the area, I will ask for hot peppers/sauce because I like my food spicy. Service was fast(we ordered 5 roti’s and got them in approx. 10 minutes) and the lady was friendly. It was also clean in there. Next time I’m in the Bronx, I will visit again. They had all types of Roti’s, such as oxtail and vegi, that I would like to try. Parking is really tough in this area, but we got lucky.

Great neighborhood caribbean spot for your roti cravings. They’re located about the fifteen minutes from me so, I have no problems picking up some curry and roti when I get the itch. I’ve only ever purchased their dahl roti, doubles and goat curry, all of which were great. It’s refreshing and nostalgic to get a taste of home whenever I miss my mother’s cooking

My 8 year old daughter was craving«buss up shot», so a quick search on Unilocal revealed Ali’s as being the closest fix. Previous to this, it was usually a place in Brooklyn or Queens. Street parking was not too difficult to find and although the store is small, it is clean and has a Health Dept. «A» rating in the window. We ordered three buss up shots(two with chicken curry and one with goat curry) and about 8 minutes later, got our take out order. Those three items, along with an order of fudge and a piece of fruit cake, came to $ 30. And remember they only take cash, no credit. The fudge was actually milk toffee(the crumbly type made with sweetened condensed milk not the sticky type) and was delicious. The fruit cake was pretty good also. The lady at the counter was efficient but not rude and I liked the vibe I got from this little shop. And the food was damn good! My daughter and I devoured the roti and curries when we got home. Great food, good prices, good service.

Every time I visit friends in this neighborhood I stop here and get paratha and pumpkin. Normally good food, and their dhalpouri is the star of the restaurant. Always soft and tasty. Good curry, but if you get nothing else get a couple bottles of their homemade peanut punch. Recently voted one of the top 100 things to get in NYC to eat or drink, this is a phenomenal beverage. Service is good, though if you need more than 5 roti skins they ask you to call ahead. Paid $ 44 for a channa and potato roti(dhalpouri), 2 packs of kumar, a medium pumpkin/dhal/rice combo, 2 paratha skins, a large order of pumpkin, 2 bottles of sorrel, and 4 bottles of peanut punch.

My favorite Trini place in this gem of the Bronx. I love their boneless chicken roti, which is just available Fridays and Saturdays. I usually order mine with pepper sauce and tamarind sauce. The doubles are delish too.

Great roti prepared by a very nice Trini. Grandma. She’s so helpful and so sweet. She gave a list of ingredients so I can try doing my own roti at home… I didn’t come close to hers but it was fun trying.

It’s been a few months since I last visited Ali’s Roti Shop but I will definitely be finding myself back here very soon. I used to live much closer, but I now live quite a few subway stops & a bus ride away so it’s much harder to get here whenever I’m craving roti, but I refuse to go anywhere else. I adore the doubles, and the roti is ALWAYS good. I’ve tried the vegetable, channa, and chicken rotis and they were all very satisfying. They also have lots of options and I’m excited to go back and try something new. If you want huge portions of authentic Trinidadian food, definitely stop by Ali’s. Once the weather warms up I’ll definitely be making regular trips to get my roti!

You want huge roti portions, Ali’s is your spot! The only piece of advice I have is get there early because they run out of shrimp roti fast! Otherwise, they have a good back home atmosphere and will always get your order to you fast!

Got doubles, channa and potato roti, and chicken roti. The doubles are a great, slightly sweet snack. The roti is good roti. The roti«wrap» they use is huge, but they do fill it well. The portion is enormous, and good bang for the buck since each roti costs between $ 6-$ 8. Theres seating/standing for about 5 to eat in. Small space, you order at a counter.

The Roti shop made me a little nervous at first. I work in this area every week and I always find myself in a situation where I can’t find a good lunch spot. I decided to take a chance on the Roti shop based on some great Unilocal reviews and I’m glad I did. My co worker and I decided to go for the beef stuffed roti and the goat stuffed roti. I originally wanted the shredded chicken roti but it’s only available on Friday and Saturday. Both dishes were packed with meat and weighed about 4 pounds each. The seasoning was amazing and the meat was very tender. The goat roti was kind of a pain to eat considering all the bones but it was still worth it. We also split one of the doubles which is just chickpeas mashed between two fried pieces of dough. Also amazing. The store is a little shady, they sell convenience store items behind plexiglass and the woman who takes your order doesn’t smile much. They have an A rating from the health department and the food is amazing. Hit it up!

I go out of my way every time I am in Brooklyn to get roti from Ali’s. I make special dates with friends in the park so I can stop by Ali’s to get roti, polouri, aloo pie, and doubles. Their customer service is lacking, but I will remain a loyal fan regardless.

Decided Monday night that I would go on a roti mission the next day. Picked this spot because of it’s location and was not disappointed. We had a beef and a veggie roti and tried a veggie double. Everything was delicious!!! The woman that helped us was kind and attentive. I will definitely be back!
