AMC Bay Plaza Cinema 13

The main reason why I give this theatre a five star rating is because I only go in the morning when it is clean, not crowded and extremely peaceful. Moreover, the prices for the snack bar is too darn expensive. It would also be nice if the theatre could serve healthier options of snacks as well as the norm. Sadly, this is the only place in the Bronx to see a movie. I am so bummed that they closed the American in Parkchester. Closed for ANOTHER clothing store! Seriously? I will be so glad when movie theatres in the boroughs get the same respect and class as Manhattan does who cater to those who reside there and are treated better! You know!!!

CONS: The employees! OMG! You can wait on line for an hour to get a bag of popcorn. Don’t they understand the flow of people based on their movie schedules? Then after you have been waiting on line for what seems like an eternity, they give you attitude!
Recommendation — Pay a little bit more attention to your employees and customer service. You are not the only movie theater in town and I have been going to Ridge Hill instead of here because of your lack of customer service. I am sure we are not the only family avoiding this place.

My family and I had been going to Bay Plaza since I was a kid, when the Burger King had a back entrance to the movie theater. Over the years, it was no secret that it got a little dangerous due to all the fights and the overall attitude of people in the Bronx, so I began to go to Cross County and/​or Whitestone (when it still existed). I finally returned to Bay Plaza for a Hunger Games Double Feature with my brother and my best friend. I was pleasantly surprised when we got there. We had purchased the tickets before-​hand (10 days in advance), so no line to wait on. They were even nice enough to refund the money for one extra ticket I had purchased that could not be used due to the person getting sick. Their popcorn and nachos were awesome, and I love the new drink machines! Reclining chairs? Oh, yes. They’ve definitely upped their service and quality. Will definitely continue going back. My only gripe is that they don’t have any of the video games like they used to in the lobby. Makes me miss walking up the stairs and seeing Time Crisis or Tekken.

i had a very good experience. went on wed afternoon to a 4:30pm show of the huntsman. the sr. s price is $ 12.50 so its alittle pricey. discounts of 6.99 before 12 noon? the leather power recliners are really nice. pretty comfortable they recline ½ wayback which is pretty good. the power controls have 4 areas to control. most theathers have about 6 – 10 rows so its not overwhelming. my show had about 6 people and it was quiet. if they had more discounts i would go more often. the concession was empty. i guess this is a good time to go during the week and midday. i was surprised and pretty clean. i also like the alamo but this show wasnt playing there.

«You reap what you sow «meaning that you allow the dredge of society to over run this place and you get exactly what you have today. I remember back in the late 80’s all the way up to the mid 90’s (Last movie I saw there was «The Rock ») when that theatre was pretty decent. They had a taco bell concession in there (not sure if they still do) but I stopped going because AMC has dropped the ball on this particular location whose better days are years behind. Yes, I remember seeing teenagers and even some adults doing a little hanky panky in the back rows and even finding condom wrappers on the floor. Those issues paled in comparison to what you have now. My advice… wait for it to come on HBO or Showtime and watch it in the comfort of your own home.

Nasty, nasty, nasty!!! Bunch of kids and adults that act like kids all over. The movie theater is super dirty. Those seats were a waste, because no one wants to sit in a seat where there is crumbled popcorn still down the side when I arrive. I will NOT be back to this theater. I will pay the extra money and go to a cleaner and more pleasant AMC in Manhattan.

Shout out to Nick! There was a woman and her gang of unruly children who simply did not understand the concept of reserved seats. Even after she was settled, she decided to play on her TABLET while her unruly bunch of miscreants streaked through the aisles. It took everything in me not to attack but in the spirit of Spring Break… fast forward to Customer Service, where Nick waited patiently for my passionate speech and comped us four awesome full price tickets. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We went to see the 10am showing of Batman vs. Superman on Saturday April 9 and it was horrible. The movie didn’t start until 10:20 and when several people went to complain the idiot manager said he «forgot» about that showing. Then when the movie finally does come on there are no previews and no sound to accompany the picture. Incredible. Completely ruined our movie going experience. They didn’t finally get it right until after 10:30. We are never going back to this dump…

Because of time constraints, AMC is the only movie theater showing «My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2» at a decent time. I trekked here, with no judgements (ok…I’m lying) and, an open mind (I’m lying again); hoping and praying that everything would go smoothly. And by that I mean, strolling in peacefully and looking for parking. I don’t ask for much… I want to go in, without having to argue with anybody and enjoy my movie… and leave me the freak alone.
Be prepared to wait on long lines or purchase your tickets in advance or at the kiosk. But, if you do have the pleasure of waiting in long lines, you’ll see a mixed-​bag of characters talking about the good old days of The Bronx. Ok… I can dig that. Let me get back to the gist of the story… Lines don’t flow as quickly, because AMC, for the most part, seems to constantly be short staffed.
AMC employees– from what I’ve experienced, try their hardest, to maintain its facilities in proper order. That much, I will say. Except, every so often, there’s a jerk or two, who take it upon themselves to create chaos for everybody else. AMC is very spacious and airy with large windows on the main floor. Seats are reclinable and comfortable, I think this has to be the best feature here.
But, if you’re brave, may the force be with you.

I stopped supporting this theater years ago, about 10 years to be exact, since my nephew got his face slashed. He was only 13 and the so-​called security on premises were too afraid to do their job. To help make matters worst, they neglected to help find the perks by withholding evidence.
When the Whitestone Multiplex and the American closed families felt forced to attend this theater, especially for matinée shows — I know I was. It saddens me because this is the only theater in the Bronx. Doesn’t that seem odd to anyone? How are we supposed to enjoy movies, family outings? One theater for how many zip codes? Yea, guess I’ll stick to matinée.
It appears that this movie theater was in better condition prior to the upgrade. By upgrade I am referring to the reclining seats. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s overcrowded and understaffed but if we don’t speak up nothing will change.
Suffice to say I suggest everyone bring their own disinfecting wipes (for seats, arm rest, cup holders) bottled water, soda and snacks. After watching a special online, I will NEVER use any fountain machine, order popcorn again and if I walk into a mall I want my food in a bag to go — no trays please!

I am all for supporting local businesses, but this movie theater is the worst! No matter what time of day you go! No straws, no lids, no napkins, no butter, no slushy, and NO HAND SOAP??? The update on the seating is great but this place has to get it together. The people behind the counter are slow and all I asked for was a small popcorn and a small soda, I had to repeat it three times and they still got it wrong!

The seats are the only good thing about this movie theater. They have reclining seats that actually are reclining and have room to them. Yesterday we noticed they do not pop the popcorn there. The popcorn tasted old and stale. The drink station is do it yourself, it was covered in soda. My sneakers are still sticky. This movie attract herds of teens who movie hop so they come in and out of the movie looking for seats. I think coming during the day to this movie is a better option. We also waited on the concession line for about 25 minutes. They are not making popcorn or serving you a drink so what takes so long?

Disgusting! Only in the Bronx will they allow a movie theater to be as dirty as this one was tonight. It was horrific and filthy. I will never go back there again. The lady at guest services was impolite and rude and the machine gave us ticketed seats we didn’t select. Not a good experience for a dedicated customer.

This is by far the most ghetto Amc I’ve ever been to smh today was our friends birthday and he wanted to see Dead Pool, my boyfriend bought 4 tickets and we went off to enjoy the movie, we didn’t know there were assigned seats and sat down anywhere. After the movie started a couple came and said we were in there seats, we had no idea Amc started doing this so we got up and moved and apologize looked at our tickets and found our seats. 15 min into the movie a staff member came up to my brother in law and said get up you gotta move now extremely rude and we said why if this ticket shows its our seat? The lady said you gotta move didn’t even bother looking at our ticket and told our brother in law to go speak to customer in a very rude tone. He left to customer service and there was no one there after 10 min someone finally showed up and the staff member that told my brother in law to get up said to I’m guessing the manager I was asking him very nicely to move and he told her no she didn’t we showed her the tickets some of our stubs had the seat numbers and some didn’t so she said go inside and find a seat rude rude rude so we said waiting here mad us missed the movie and we asked for a refund we only got 2 tickets refunded she wouldn’t refund the other 2 she told us it was too late that she could only do two as a courtesy not only did we miss our movie we didn’t get fully refunded this highly upset me and I’m definitely gonna spread the word on how Amc does business it’s unethical.

Buy your tickets early because there’s reserved seats. These seats are Helpful when it gets super crowded. The best thing about this place is probably the fact that the chairs can recline.

I’ve come to this theatre on several occasions and never have I been this disappointed. Normally an AMC theatre with reserved seating you do not have to fight for an seat. I arrive on time to watch the 10:20 PM deadpool showing and not only was there someone in my seat but here I had to get security to plead with the individual to get up. Then the lights were on during the first 40 minutes of the movie. When I went to guest services the young man offered a refund to only ask me to leave 10 minutes later. I did not ask for someone else to be sitting in my seat nor did I ask to be inconvenience to back and for and involve security nor did I ask for the all of the hassle. All I’ve ever wanted was to enjoy the show without any disruptions. And I’ve did not get that. Totally disappointed. This is the most horrible experience.

(tl;dr) Basically, if you want a pleasant and safe movie theater experience then don’t go here.

I’ve been to this movie theater twice now and each time I’ve regretted going. Not at all because of the movies (I don’t want to make this a movie review lol) but because of the patrons there.
When watching The World’s End (C+ comedy), some hoodlums pulled off the fire alarm safety cover and ran out of the theater. I had to personally get up during the movie and replace the cover while the alarm was blaring! And wait, it gets worse–
When watching The Revenant (solid B+ movie), some hoodlums threw popcorn up in the air and later even slapped someone across the face before running out. Imagine getting slapped in the face from behind while trying to enjoy a movie! If you’re thinking that’s insane, then you’re right because it is insane!
The staff was perfectly sympathetic, helpful with filing a report and even gave us free movie passes but until they hire a security guard I won’t be returning to this establishment and I implore you to do the same!
As a disclaimer I went to afternoon shows each time so maybe the evening crowd is different but I doubt it.
Just to end on a positive note (I hate writing so negatively)– My friends and I can vouch for the nearby Regal New Roc Cinemas and even The Picture House in Pelham NY for a more pleasurable experience!
VEGETARIANS BEWARE– oh! Well the concessions are standard, totally fine and well kept. However even free refills on drinks, and standalone butter stations don’t make up for what I’ve been through here…

Went to the flicks this evening, and while on my way to the ladies rest room, I walked in and see a young man sweeping. I’m surprised so I run out, while waiting for him to leave, I hear ladies coming out of the stalls, and young children using the rest room. I mean you can hear them utilizing the toilets… Mean while, the pervert is still sweeping. I yell «excuse me, but ladies are using the rest room and you’re in hear sweeping, ARE YOU SERIOUS??» His dumb response to me is «Mrs. I work here». I run out looking a manager and all this nut says is «he should’ve blocked the door»… UM THEY WAS ALREADY USING THE TOILET WHEN YOUR PERVERTED EMPLOYEE WALKED IN AND STARTS SWEEPING… I was totally disgusted, sick with a headache My daughter and I go home to watch Netflix. Not thinking, I should’ve got my money back. ;(

So I’ve been coming to this movie theater since I was 12 years old, but for most of my teen & early young adult years I opted to go to better theaters downtown because this place was always less than spectacular to put it nicely. Fast forward to adulthood (as adult as I can manage to be at 24 :-P) and I’m honestly quite impressed with how much better this place has gotten. The renovation was exactly what it needed. I love the cozy recliner seats, they’re not only cool to sit in but they’re bigger so there’s ample room to get comfy while watching your movie. I also appreciate that we can now choose our seats before we get into the theater.
My only gripe now (and believe me, I had PLENTY in the past) is that they could use more cashiers when the lines start to get too long. It’s annoying to wait on a long line and see two cashiers, one of which keeps heading off to do something else. I would at least have all the cashiers staffed for high traffic times. Whenever I can though, I just buy my ticket online to avoid the craziness. Which works great IF all the kiosks are working, and there’s almost always one that’s broken.
Other than these issues, this place has really gotten better. Now I’m more likely to head over to my local movie theater than go all the way downtown, and that’s honestly the way it should be.
