Check your receipts before leaving if you pay cash. Cashier told me my price was a dollar more than it actually came up to at 12.13, checked receipt it was actually 11.13 and he shorted me a dollar on change.

The place and food is alright… The service is kind of slow but it is a small place with two sides to order plus the inside… And the workers always look like they’re suffering with drug addictions and some hood shit lol but if you can look past that this place is nice and inexpensive. I recommend it

One of my absolute favorite places to grab a bite to eat. Dining is restricted to an outside area with seats and tables. Although you can order inside. Very good for one of the only checkers in the northeast BX.

This is the only Checkers I’ve ever been too and it is great! The loaded fries are second to none and the drive through service is extremely fast!

This was«the worst» fast food experience I have ever had! It started with my driving up to the order box, after waiting 5 min for someone to take my order, I pulled up to the window to get a simple order of a diet coke, and the special(2) chicken pieces with seasoned fries. I watched from my car window while the employees inside joked around, fooled around and made me wait over 10 min to get my order!!! When I finally got my food from the man who had no explanation or apology after I told him I waited so long, I found the chicken and fries so over fried and dripping with oil, I could not even tolerate to eat it! Checkers Management needs to «Check» out this severly lacking location pronto!

I’d take Checkers over the Burger King(terrible) and McDonald’s(which is much improved) in Bay Plaza any day, Usually get the double champ with cheese meal which is excellent and I love their fries. I also like the overall look of the place.

WHYDOESN’T THISCHECKERSHAVE5STARS? I’d hate to admit this but I actively go out of my way to test and compare every Checkers in New York City, and out of every single Checkers I’ve been to, this is the only one you should go to. Actually the one on 161st comes really close but my heart goes out to the Bay Plaza one. My only qualm with this particular store is that there isn’t any indoor seating, so it’s make for a terrible rainy day trip. But on better weather, the outdoor seating is eerily cozy. What’s exactly perfect about this Checkers is that they don’t disappoint. In fact, this is what I imagine a multiple orgasm must feel like. I can’t begin to list the spot on perfection of their fast food. I mean, the fries are ALWAYS crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside and they’re NEVER stale. This is actually the only Checkers I’ve had that I enjoy their fries. It’s cheap and I’m really writing this review for you meat lovers. Have you ever bought a bacon burger expecting it to be absolutely the best thing that can happen that day and find that 1) wherever you’re buying it from is skimpy on the bacon, 2) the already small amounts of bacon is soggy, and 3) there’s a ton greens in the way? Well, this Checkers has never given me any of those problems. Some places give you two strips of bacon; one time I found 5 in my Baconzilla. They’re always crisp and they don’t even bother to put in lettuce, which at other fast food joints offend me because if I’m going for any sort of bacon burger, I don’t feel like going the extra mile to try and convince myself that since there’s vegetables it has to be healthy. Seriously, I live a block away from the 161st one and if I’m ever in the mood for Checkers, I’d make the hour and a half — two hour trip to this place.

Checkers is one of those places to get your guilty pleasures fulfilled when your burger need kicks in. I, personally, like their burgers over Mickey D’s(McDonald’s for the less un-hip crowd. lol) or Burger King or even Wendy’s. I can’t place my finger on what makes their burgers tastier than the two big burger giants but the food here has always been great! Even their seasoned fries are better than those you get at Popeye’s! The food always seems to be fresh. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a cold or stale order of burger and fries since I’ve been going there. Take advantage of there 2 for $ 4 meal deals too! The only drawback, for me, at this location is they have no indoor seating. It’s mainly a drive thru place. They do have outdoor seating but during the winter or on a rainy day the outdoor seating is not very helpful.

I love this place. In my opinion Checkers is better than Mcd, Burgerking and all those other fast food burger joints. Although Sonic and Wendy’s come close, Checkers still takes it. Burgers are good and juicy. Always made fresh. Those fully loaded fries with ranch, cheese and bacon are gods gift to burger lovers. Seriously. if you dont believe me try them. Chicken sandwiches are good asell. They usually have 2 for $ 4 buck sandwiches. Chicken club, cheeseburger, steak. I want some now. Bout to get on the train two stops just for some Checkers.

This is the only Checkers I have laid my eyes on. Fries are freaking great. I have no problem with their fries. However I question their chicken sandwiches sometimes, because I believe they may use their older chicken instead of fresher chicken. I worked at Wendy’s.so I know what I’m talking about… lol. Out with the old. and in with the older… lol. I go through drivethru with my family and everytime there is an argument between my parents and the employees. I do not know who be starting it, but it get old and annoying. I know fast food [hence my Wendy’s work experience], and most of time the arguments are caused by the customers.

I’ve seen an occasional Checkers chain but never been to one until now. For those of you who haven’t been the menu is a cross between McDonald’s and Nathan’s(in that they have hot dogs as well as hamburgers and things like fish sandwiches). This spot is just a drive thru as well as a small interior with a ordering and pickup window(no indoor seats but there were a few outdoor tables for warmer weather). The Checkers brand has the styling of a friendly 50s car hop/diner but the tiny dirty spot has some of the worst unfriendly service I’ve ever had from any business. It was so bad in fact that I didn’t even get mad and me and my friend just had to stop and laugh at one another we were so appalled at how slow and antisocial the workers here were. The burgers were thicker than the standard McDonald’s burger but still small compared to anything else and were slightly drier and more tasteless than the other fast food chains, the shake was ridiculously thick(almost to the Wendy’s frosty thickness) and could barely get through the straw, they were also pretty tasteless and I could barely get the hint of chocolate in my chocolate shake. The shining star in this pile of crap spot is their fries, wonderfully hot and seasoned fries that are better than any other fast food fry I’ve had. I’d run through the drive thru for some of their fries in the future but that’s about it.

Me and my lady eat like slobs when we hit up Checkers. The bacon cheese burgers and fries are top notch. Its actually the only fast food I eat. As for the customer service? I dont want these people being my friends, its a FASTFOODJOINT people! As long as they get my damn BACONZILLA, who cares if they have an attitude. I’d have an attitude too, if I worked there and couldnt steal a fry here and there from a customers bag… right?

I have to agree with Oriana. This place has good PMS comfort food. I sometimes get in the mood for greasy food. And I mean, oily, bag-soaking, transparent wrapper kind of greasy. And Checkers delivers. [You heard me loud and clear, McDonald’s. Your grease factor is faltering.] Anyway, to save some cash, I ordered a Checkerburger and small fries, which was in the neighborhood of three dollars. [For drinks, you have to sneak over to a bodega and get an Arizona tea] The food was hot and pretty fresh… love the fries. I munched them while walking, I’ll admit… I would say that they’ve improved over the years.

2 Spicy Chicken Sammies +1 medium fries + 1 monkey shake(½ banana & ½ chocolate) = PMS comfort food –1 for no indoor seating OR bathroom –1 for being run by the most inept teenagers that Bronx Juvi Hall has ever produced.

Checkers prices are too high. The best item on their menu is the seasoned french fries. I used to like their cheeseburgers, tasted fresh and home-made. Until that unfortunate day that I ordered my meal and got a cheeseburger with a meat patty that had the texture of one that had been sitting around and just heated up. That’s happened more than once. I don’t like taking chances when it comes to the freshness of my food, so… And sometimes the employees behind the register have a bad attitude.

Not as good as the one in LI… there’s ample outdoor seating, though. And they have the much beloved Deep Sea Double. The food is fresh, the kids working there are nice, but they need to mind the mountainous garbage pile… I got stuffed silly off of six bucks.

Very pricey for the quality of food. I got the double cheeseburger and it wasn’t even on the menu. I just had to ask for it. $ 4.50. And a strawberry«milkshake» that was WAY too light to be even remotely natural. Too chemically for my numbed palate. No indoor seating: which sucks on a windy November day. The service was good though. Very polite.
