The land where the park is today was the former site of a concrete plant, as you can still see from the structures. Acquired from the NYC parks and recreation in 2000, is a clear example of how important is a nice environment with a lot of facilities for the people living in the area, where to spend lot of time during warm days, enjoying the sun and the sunset. It’s right by the Bronx river, that makes the park even more attractive. Personally I would’nt have put a dredge in the river right in front of the park, but at least it means they do something to keep the water clean from trash… Lots of benches, beach chairs, chessboards, nice canopies to provide some shadow during hot sunny days, everything is there to make the park enjoyable to those that like to stay at the open air, reading a book, relaxing, talking with friends or family. The 6 train rumbles on the elevated tracks out of the Aldus st portal to Whitlock ave, and then makes a curve right over the northern part of the park to its next stop, Elder ave. That’s a lot of The(old and new) Bronx in just a small park! #alla#scoperta#del#Bronx##

Despite the fact that it looks cute from the train(Amtrak to Boston or Vermont), it’s really not that great of a park. Starlight Park, just down the block is nicer and more peaceful, and is home to the future Bronx River House. At least it was great for a couple of pictures. :)
