Estrellita Poblana IV

I’ve never had a bad time at this restaurant with the exception of that Cinco de Mayo, when we couldn’t get in because the line was too long. The food here is great. Its hard to get Mexican food wrong but this place always gets it right. You cant go wrong with anything you order from here food wise. The chicken quesadilla with rice and beans is my favorite dish. Burritos and tacos are tasty if u want something fast. The drinks are a tad bit expensive and tiny so we never drink here. Love the ambiance of this place. Just go.

Maybe i went in on a bad day, but this place really blows imo. The food tasted like it was a couple of days old. The rice and beans were kind of hard. The chicken had kind of a funky smell to it. Even my margarita was tasteless. I didn’t know that was possible lol.
The waitresses were nice and the place was clean. But that’s about it. The food was definitely a let down.

If you know me, you would know that I am always on a quest for great tacos. This place had me. I always give me great reviews. I loved this place. Great tacos. Great guacamole. Great molè. I just don’t know what has happened to them lately. I ate there yesterday, alone as usual, and the service and food was just terrible. I went in the middle of the day, so it was not crowded. There was a waitress there that just didn’t seem to want to be there. So, to me, Estrellita is on a downhill turn. The food wasn’t great and the service needed help. This review bothers me because I have been going to Estrellita’s for many many years. I would take all out of towner’s there and rave about their food. Im going to try the other spots to see if they are following the this trend. Bummer.

This place is very good for authentic Mexican food. Our waitress was excellent! Reasonably priced! Large portion.

It’s pretty decent. I remember a few years back there plates were more stuffed and what not but was still pretty good. Like every place has its ups and downs on certain dishes but it is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in all of NY and trust me I’ve tried many in the boroughs.

My boyfriend and I decided to go for a late night dinner. The location closes at 12am and we showed up at about 11pm; kitchen closes at 11:30pm so we had ample time. When I first walked in there was no one to greet to show us a table, I had to walk to the back to the take out section to ask to be seated. The only good part was that they didn’t make it seem that it was a disturbance to be coming in so late.
We get seated and the waitress comes. The waitress only spoke Spanish so there was a massive language barrier. It’s not like this is just a local restaurant, so it was disappointing that we couldn’t communicate efficiently. We eventually had to ask one of the bus boys for assistance. It is definitely not her fault but we thought it was ridiculous that we come to a restaurant and aren’t able to communicate our order. It was frustrating for both ourselves and us.
My food was good and tasty but my boyfriends totally did not enjoy his. For one had to send it back because he is lactose intolerant and they put cheese in the taco, something that could’ve been avoided if we were able to communicate. Overall it was an okay yet frustrating experience. The food was the only reason for three stars.

Very clean place. Love the music in the back ground. Selena was very nice and helpful. Great customer service. The presentation was all perfect from the minute I walked in to when I got my food. The food was amazing. Everything had its unique taste. Very tasty food not to mention there salsa and chips to start of my meal. Yummy! I had the mocajete! All the meats in in where very tasty!

Great food. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. My coworkers frequent this place often. Happy hour special is 2 for 1 from 2−7pm. Had to subtract a star because of the service. The service leaves A LOT to be desired. Servers don’t speak English and everything always seems complicated for them, even if you’re speaking Spanish. If it runs as slow as it does on a regular weekday (early evening time) WHEN ITS EMPTY, I’d hate to see how it is when it’s packed.

I’m only giving this a second star because the nachos were sooooo yummy.
Any hoot, their delivering service is horrible. We ordered through grub hub. Placed the order at 8:40pm. Delivery was expected between 9:20 — 9:35. We didn’t receive our order until 10:20. The food was cold and we were starving. We called a number of times and each time they told us five minutes or that the delivery guy was outside.
I felt sorry for the delivery man, I think he walked from the restaurant to our place. I didn’t see any car nor bicycle.

I love the food here! The tacos are PERFECT! I don’t get a chance to come often because I don’t live close by but when we do, We’re there for hours eating lol

I had a chicken burrito dinner, and let’s just say this I thought it was huge at first but I ate the whole thing lol! I usually go with a large group of 10 – 20 people, they seated us pretty quickly and were very attentive. The guacamole is awesome too, def recommend this place.

Good mexican food I give them 3 start because I think they need more presentation on their plates and also seems I’m mexican I always expect more out of a mexican restaurant.

This location is the best I’ve tried thus far; I’ve only tried one other but this location has better food, in my opinion.
The first time we came here was after a long day of walking for a cause and by my friend’s suggestion, I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas de Camarones, shrimp enchiladas with a silky green cream sauce. They were served with rice and beans and as always, the condiments for the table. They were so good. Hubby stuck with what he knows and had Steak Fajitas which were plentiful and very good.
Our second time was recent, for the same friend’s birthday dinner and this time I went with Steak and Shrimp Fajitas and hubbs got a Chicken Chimichanga, which was HUGE! The outside was so crispy and it full of chicken, rice and goodness. He didn’t think he’d be able to finish but he took it down.
This location never disappoints but be forewarned to make note of the servers that make your drinks correct and good because not all of them do so, you wanna keep that in mind. The kitchen, however, is always on point.

I moved into the neighborhood and spotted this restaurant by coincidence. Came on a Friday night and there was a live «mariachi» band. The place décor is awesome. Feels very welcoming. Our server was on point, as she suggested a few items on the menu and was spot on with the flavor. Have to try the Margarita with the chile salt. The portions are huge. I had a sizzling steak, chicken and shrimp platter with cheese. Will come here again. Perfect spot for a date or to bring the family.

Probably one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. They use fresh ingredients and their dishes are bursting with flavor. Their spicy guacamole sauce is out of this world. Can’t go wrong with the chicken tacos!

Top notch and delicious! We’ve dined-​in and ordered delivery from this place and their counterpart Estrellita Poblana I. We never encountered any issues. Food is always delicious and most importantly-​consistent. Their guacamole is banging and a must! My personal favorite is their enchilada suiza steak. They’ve perfected this dish and hits just the right spot. We order via GrubHub for delivery and the food always arrived timely and warm too! This is definitely one of our neighborhood favorites and go-​to spot!

So after my last review it took me quite some time to get over the incident that happened, but once my husband began complaining that we hadn’t had any food from here for a while, I decided to give in and give them another try. Since then we’ve visited the restaurant (rather than ordering) twice and both experiences were great. I’ve never had an issue with the food — it’s always been consistently delicious, and it’s one of the best places to get authentic Mexican food in the Bronx. I’ve had their tacos, quesadillas, burritos, chimichangas, tortas, fajitas and other entrees and I’ve never had a complaint about the quality of the food. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The prices are also amazing for the quality AND quantity of food that you get.
I’ve only ever tried one cocktail from here. On the side of the table I noticed a little card advertising their cucumber cilantro margaritas and being a tequila lover I couldn’t resist — and I’m so glad I didn’t! It’s delicious! It’s probably going to be *the* drink I get whenever I visit. Refreshing, not too sweet, with a little kick from the chili powder on the rim — perfect.
Both in house visits were pleasant. Our waitresses were nice and service was timely. Their bathroom was very clean which is something I always love to see in a restaurant. At this point I can say that I forgive the incidents from my last review; sometimes there are tough nights where it’s easy for misunderstandings to occur. I’ve also made orders to my apartment since then that have arrived on time with no issue. With all of these positive experiences recently, I had to update my review.

A delicious and affordable meal. I love that the food always comes to the table fresh and hot. The prices are great. The service is fast. Delivery service is also fast.
