We attended the fancy feet at castle hill( Unilocal doesn’t have this location). We did the mommy and me class from September to January weekly on Saturday at 12:30. This is our first experience and my daughter was a little over 18 months when we started. I am writing this review because this is stuff I wish someone would have told me. I was excited to get my little princess in an environment with other kids her age and get her introduced to a social setting. Ms. Amanda is a wonderful instructor for the class. She has the patience and experience in working with toddlers. She provided each of her students with enough attention to everyone but still managed to teach a routine. Our class ranged weekly from about 6 – 8 girls. The moms/dads are with their girls helping and keeping them going with the different routine. I had no problems with the class. My daughter was no matter how often we attended the class not able to sit still. She was the one all over the class. I am not sure if she just wasn’t interested enough, if I had higher expectations for her at her age to be able to follow along or what but the hour was very frustrating for me. According to my doctor her behavioris age appropriate. The girls have a show in June. Here are my concerns. They make you buy a costume early in October for I believe 72.00. I brought it hoping that maybe the first 2 month was an adjustment period and that my daughter will eventually follow along the routine and be able to perform. After all the class is for 18 months — 3 years old so I am assuming that other kids at 18 months was able to perform in the past. I also didn’t know of my other options. So fast forward to Jan — 5 months later my daughter is still not able to follow along. She is honestly distracting the other students and the hour for her and I is just me chasing her around hoping she gets engaged enough to follow along. So i decided that i am no longer going to come. I feel my daughter is not ready. But what happens to my $ 72.00– I get a costume I have no need for. I wish they would give you the options of wanting to perform or not especially for the young ones. I also wish they would have not harassed to buy the costume so early because who knows from Oct– June what can happen. I wish for the mommy and me class they would have set some expectations for the different ages because a 18 month and 2 years are just too far apart and it’s unfair to compare the two. I am not able to comment on the older classes. The studio are clean. The staff is friendly. You can’t see what the other classes are doing which I did not like. Whenever I mention that my daughter went to fancy feet ppl would mention how their reputation for dance was not the best and how I should consider other options once she is older– which I will. For the moms with the younger girls I highly recommend to try to a class. I recommend waiting on buying the costume and being honest with yourself and your daughter so that it’s not a waste of money. Happy dancing!
