Golden Crust

This is going to be a strange review. My daughter and I came down to the Gold Star Jerk Center, which is supposed to be ²⁴⁄₇ but when we arrived there (Friday ⁷⁄₂₄ at 8pm), they told us they had to close for the weekend and would be opening back up on Monday. So what to do but look for another jerk place. We had walked by the golden crust place on the way to the Gold Star and it looked clean and was full of people, always a good sign. We waited in line and found they had no jerk chicken or pork, but ended up getting turkey necks and shrimp, both with rice and peas and cabbage. We also got some fried chicken pieces and for dessert chocolate cake, bread pudding and coconut drops.
Once we got home we dug in and were happily surprised. The dishes were all very tasty and satisfying. The shrimp was spicy and the gravy soaked into the rice and peas. The chocolate cake was good but the bread pudding was even better. The coconut drops were also fantastic, sort of like juggery sugar with pieces of ginger in it.
The golden crust places in Westchester are ok, nothing fantastic. This place was definitely a notch above.

The store is so small you cant form a line properly and leave out with out having ten conversations with people because your just that close to them. This place has no seating area soooo I’m going to walk and wat my hot ass mac and cheese. My skinny behind loves to sit down and chow down not walk around in 0 degree weather eating. At least have the option to sit… But the place isn’t big enough!
The service sucks. Why? I wanted mac and cheese in a big ass plate and she tried to give me some small shit for eight dollars. I tried to explain to her… O want the big plate no matter how much it cost (at that time and point (
She refused to serve me in a big bowel. So we left.
The sec visit this women told me the bread was fresh cut this morning… It tasted like color paste.
The vibe is also weird. I don’t like this place but I will return to actually taste the food.
Oh and this specific women serves so slow… About time she was done I have a five o clock shadow on my face.

We were visiting my mother in the bronx and felt like some carribean food so we went to this eatery find it to be very clean and the Associates was very helpful the food was tremendous we ate there many times and we have to give it up to the staff in helping us choosing the meals (my favorite meal was jerk chicken and steamed vegetables) with a Snapple. The A rating is very much deserved.

My dad took me here once and it was off the chain… I mean the food is amazing the staff is wonderful and very helpful… I don’t know much about Jamaican food but this place just makes me want to try everything… I had the curry chicken with rice and peas very good … I recommend this place if u want a good meal

I was looking for some caribbean food but not from golden crust. Had not really ate at a golden crust in years. Decided to go here because it looked pretty active with customers from the outside. Had a simple plate of salmon, vegetables, with rice and peas. My wife got oxtail with same sides. We were both happy with the portions and taste. Staff was helpful, pleasant, and quick with order. Next time I’m in the mood for Caribbean I’ll go there again. I gave it 3 stars because It’s my first review and I have nothing to compare it to yet.
