House of Tan & Spa

With the absence of the sun for the past 3 months, and it being my first New York winter… I was looking like a Hispanic ghost. I couldn’t wait any longer with my fair, mildly sick-​looking complexion and decided on getting some artificial rays.
The woman at the counter was really pleasant and helpful. Intuitively she knew that I just wanted something quick and cheap. I also used my Unilocal!10% discount check-​in offer! (Thanks, Unilocal!)
The beds allow patrons up to 20 minutes of fake baking. And from coming from someone who «never burns» and confidently told this to cashier, I took the whole 20 minutes first time in years I’ve been in a tanning bed.
And I came out with tan. That’s for dayum sho. But, the next day at work my whole body ached. What is this stinging pain I feel? Why is my whole body pinkish? Alas, my first sunburn.
This place was really clean and had a bunch of different options for those looking to go to the dark side.
Overall, great service, good prices. I shy from a 5 star because I feel that in the past I’ve been advised a certain amount of minutes for my first time. I wish the girl would’ve set a limit for my first time even though I insisted.
Just be smart when tanning here because they don’t have limits on beds. Don’t get over confident (even if you’re a brownie) because you will burn!

I live in the Pelham Bay area of the Bronx. I google searched for mystic tans, as I was in desperate need of a tan for an event I was attending, however I am not a fan of tanning beds. I called House of Tan and the employee who answered was very knowledgeable and friendly. She answered all of my questions, and gave me concise instructions for each service. She scheduled my appointment for an airbrush tan, something I had never received. House of Tan is located in the heart of a bustling Little Italy area of the Bronx. But I loved the area. Just remember, parking is scarce and must be paid on the meter— bring quarters. Once I got there, it was a breeze. She made sure I wouldn’t turn orange on the palms of my hands, bottoms of my feet, knees and elbows. Her directions were easy to follow, and I felt at ease with her. She did a very thorough job of «spray tanning» my entire body. I felt sun kissed as soon as we were finished. Her work made my ball gown pop! Thank you!

I love that the young lady that works in this place is very nice. I go out of my way to go here because the other tan salon closer to me (tan factry on williamsbridge rd) sucks. I enjoy the atmosphere here, even if the prices are a bit high, it’s worth it because of the service.

Packages are priced well and the super/​turbo beds quality are great. Staff is always very friendly per my experience. I have to say that I have had a very good experience over the past 2 years.

The staff is usually super friendly via phone but when you’re inside the place they give me dirty looks? Why doesn’t customer service exist in The Bronx? I’m not ghetto trash like the rest of the neighborhood and neither are the employees that work here… I just don’t get it. I come here ONLY because it’s the cheapest I could find.

This is where I experienced my first tanning session on a bed. I bought a package of 10 sessions for about $ 80 for a medium level bed. They carry one upper level quality bed in the entire shop, so If others are using it you might to have wait a while.
Its a small place and with a friendly staff. After going here for a few sessions, I tried several other places in the city and found myself some really great spots for sessions with better beds and bigger rooms.
Its OK if you don’t have time to travel out of the neighborhood to a better location. But overall its OK for a tanning salon in the Bronx!
