This place has amazing food! The curry is on a scale of 1 to 10 in heat,…well you can always ask them to make it to your personal tolerance. And it very clean, they have an «A» rating.

Ahh Hungry Bird, where do I start? The food — amazing. I’ve never daydreamed the next day about how good the previous night’s dinner was… Until Hungry Bird came into my life The boyfriend and I always order the same thing(cuz why mess with success??) — chicken tikka, paneer sagwala, and garlic naan. I can only assume that they make the chicken as its ordered because it is sooo fresh! My mouth is watering just thinking of it. The paneer sagwala is the best I’ve ever had too. To top it all of they have the best delivery. Quick and the delivery men are always really great. Really recommend ordering from here, you seriously will not regret it.

I’m upset! I had to work today because 2 of my employees called out sick on Memorial Day! Got the call in the middle of the beach! I needed something really spicy to calm my nerves down. I had the curry chicken and it was exactly how I wanted it. nice and hot! I ordered hot from a lot of stores, but this one was not some sissy sauce they gave me. Anyways I saved some of this delicious hot spicy food to eat in the morning when I have a meeting with these two clowns that are working for me! Thanks great food!

I’ve frequently had take-out from this restaurant and it’s officially my GO-TO Indian restaurant in the area. Their chicken biriyani is delicious and has all my favorites in it. Their Lamb Korma, rice & chicken, mango lassi, and tamarind chutney are also my favorites. I’ve had most of the NON-spicy stuff on their menu(I know as a Caribbean I should be eating pepper, but it just don’t like me), and they are all delicious. I’ve yet to complain about my orders. I gave them 4 stars because I need the pepper lovers in the family to vouch for their hotness before I give them the full 5. I love their food though.

They get 5 stars for having so many Vegetarian and Vegan options. This is very important to me. I feel lucky to have found healthy takeout in the South Bronx, where healthy food is not in abundance. Get

I am an extreme food lover. And being a food love SUCKS when you live in the Bronx as the bulk of our options are chicken spots, pizza, cuchritios and Chinese restaurants. But this place gave me a chance to have food that I actually WANT. It’s was a huge plus that they were on grub hub and actually delivered to me since I’m a grubhub crack head. The food was always good, the were really nice and they always came really fast. I’m just super disappointed now since they don’t show up on grubhub anymore. But if they did I would certainly give 5 stars.

Near the courthouse, it is a great escape for lunch during jury duty :) Had the vegetable korma, it was perfect in portion and taste … not too sweet nor too salty.

This place has very healthy, «good for your body» Indian food. The food is very fragrant and made with fresh ingredients, just like grandma would want. You’ll leave there with a belly full of wholesome authentic fare and big smile on your face. Not to mention, the owner is very nice, too. Do order the vegetarian«motor mushroom» lunch special. It’s enough to feed two people!

OMG I am totally in love! I was brought here a newbie to this area of the Bronx and I was in serious desire for comfort food of any sort. I started with the second best Aloo Papri I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It’s literally one of my favorite dishes to eat at any Indian restaurant. The staff there was extremely courteous, and hospitable to no end. When he saw how much enthusiasm i showed while ordering each dish, he ended up bringing us extra items that he though we would love at the table. I was completely elated, granted our table of six was the only table in the entire restaurant for about the first 40 minutes, i was very grateful for everything that I tasted. Not one dish that came out of there was regrettable. The Masala Wings are everything you want, and everything you make fun of growing up living in the culture. They’ve got enough heat, and sauciness to make any wing enthusiast proud. –You haven’t truly lived or rolled your eyes with the biggest smile on your face at the same time until you go over to a someone’s house for their first ‘American Thanksgiving’ and have their whole turkey covered in Garam Maslala. It’s q! uite a treat. Back on topic! Behl Puri and Pakoras also did not disappoint. They were fresh and crispy with no ‘old oil’ taste. Which I was definitely pleased. As far as the main courses we all shared; Reshmi Kabab, Chana Masala, Biryani, Butter Chicken, Vindaloo, and Aloo Gobi were all winners in my book. All delicious wonderful dishes that made us completely full and satisfied with grabbing our food on our plates with roti and naan. I would absolutely not mind coming here again. I was a pleasure eating here and the price and experience are well worth it.

I was excited to see there was an Indian place close to my job, especially after reading some of the reviews. I got the seafood and vegetable lunch box. I chose the Bengel Shrimp and the mixed vegetable curry. With tax, it came out to $ 11.96. For that amount of money, I should have gotten more than 3 small shrimp in my order. Not only it was over priced, the owner tried to short change me a dollar when giving my change back. The vegetable curry was overcooked with not enough spice and flavor. It also had water chestnuts in it, which I thought was weird. You usually only get that in Chinese food. The basmati rice was a little hard and dried out, but the naan bread was big and fluffy. Will I go back? Probably not.

So happy to have an Indian restaurant in my neighborhood — finally! It is expensive though, but it is good, decent food. Only issue I had with them is when I placed an order for a specific item, and though they took my order it seems they ran out of what I wanted because when I got the delivery, they left a note inside my bag stating they substituted my dish for something else… they didnt call to notify me or anything just picked something else for me, which I was a little annoyed at. I cant lie though, I still ate it! Don’t really order here much because of the prices. I can get equivalent for cheaper somewhere else.

Eating here right this moment as I type this review. The food here is delicious! I ordered the lamb masala and my boyfriend ordered the chicken tandoori both orders come w/basmati rice. The lamb was tender and the sauce was nice and gravy like to pour over the rice. The chicken tandoori came out on a hot sizzling plate topped w/grilled onions and peppers, both orders were very good in taste and presentation. Prices weren’t high average about around$ 12-$ 15 a dish. The garlic naan bread was fresh and equally just as good(wishing I would have ordered 2). The service was great as well I think the owner was actually the person who had serviced us. All in all I definitely will be visiting this place again.

I normally order food from Hungry Bird to be delivered to my house. And I have to say that they listen to their customers and care about the quality of the food. One time i had an issue — I felt that the food wasn’t the same as before, and sent out an email. Same day I received phone calls from restaurant’s manager, and then the owner. It was a nice gesture and it made me feel as a valuable customer. And the food is great!!!

So i ordered from Hungry Bird and the delivery was fast and the food was OMG great. My Hubby got the Seafood Curry(Lunch) with the Crab and Basmati Rice spicy and he love it that he would order from here again. My Friend She got the Chicken Tikka Masala(Lunch) with Naan and she loved it to. so all and all i will be ordering from here again.

Food was outrageously delicious!!! I live two blocks away from this place and I can’t believe that it never crossed my mind to go eat at this place. I’m still kicking myself over it. First of all the staff is amazing from the cashier guy to the delivery guys. They all said hello and welcome when I came in. No one rushed me to order. Customer service is just above and beyond in this place. Food!!! Was amazing I had the Chicken Tikka Masala amongst many more things to go. Everything was absolutely full of flavor and aroma. It was just what I wanted. I’m definitely going to continue coming back to this place. Great establishment.

Ok, so I’ve been here twice now and a 5-star rating upgrade is long overdue! Turns out the 1st time was no fluke: the food here is even better than I thought. This time I ordered delivery to my home, which is around a 5 to 10 min walk away. Judging by some of the horror stories here, I was prepared for quite a hefty wait time. But, nah. Even though it was a Saturday night, our order came within 30 mins. Impressive! I got the Chicken Tikka Masala this time, which was just simply perfection! I’m no expert on Indian food – far from it! – but I hadn’t expected to enjoy this dish as much as I did. My friend had what I ordered previously … the lamb biryani. She, otoh, does happen to know Indian food quite well, and she said her order was«melt-in-your-mouth» fantastic! Her words exactly. High praise coming from her. She’s from Brooklyn and didn’t have very high hopes for an Indian place in the Bronx. Hmph – showed her!!! I sincerely hope this place stays in business. I’m tempted to come in for a sit-down dinner next time. Not just to have something else to Unilocal about here, but to praise the owner and staff in person. You guys rock!!!

After having little success finding«good» ethnic food in the Bronx, I was very delighted to have had experienced Hungry Bird. Fortunately, I was able to find parking in front of the store… However finding parking might be an issue for some, especially around dinner time. If driving isn’t your thing, the location is very accessible by public transportation or you can easily pull a cab. The service was exceptional! It was a bit cold when we walked in, but the waiter had no problem in providing us with a portable heater. The place seems to be relatively new and there was currently no guest restroom but the staff was courteous enough to allow us into the employee restroom. The food was great. We had Samosas as an appetizer– entrees: chicken tikka masala, chicken saagwala, curry chicken(all three entrees came with beautifully plated basmati rice) accompanied with regular naan bread. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. We also had mango lassi(phenomenal!) This place is a clean place, friendly environment and fantastic food(gourmet, if you ask me.)

Hungry Bird(ironically named, from their portions to their prices — you wont leave hungry at all) seems a bit out of place on Morris Ave; but then so is a diamond in the rough. A gem in a maze of dilapidated bodegas, garbage cans and discount«.99 $(and up!)» stores Hungry Bird is worth the trek to the Bronx if you’re anywhere near here. I often come here from my house in W Harlem. It’s that good. Customer service is first and foremost the most important item they deliver, which is apparent in their enthusiastic willingness to meet all customer’s needs. Don’t like a menu item? No need to feel pretentious about ordering off the menu — they’ll suggest it! My first visit, they were brand spankin’ new, I expressed that I am vegan and they told me just order what I want and they’ll make it right(of course to a certain extent, as I am sure they do not have vegan yogurts, etc.) Saag paneer(sans sag)? No problem, throw some tofu in there. Samosa? Vegan(and effing incredible!) Motor mushroom? Weird name, also can be made vegan. Pretty much anything here they can and will happily alter to your needs. Their roti is vegan, and the bomb dot com.
