The service here was the main reason for my 3-star review. It is a small place, but we could never find our server. There was always a different server taking our orders or refilling our drinks, because we could never find the same person. Leaving the restaurant, we saw most of the staff in the front behind the counter talking and on their phones. I worked in restaurants for a while and this was a turnoff for me. The food was pretty good. The clams that they had on special werent the nicest or freshest. So, i wouldnt order those again. I would rather pay a better price for better clams. The rest of the meal was good. My wife ordered a pasta dish and i ordered a seafood dish. Their red sauce is great.

Food was delicious! My family and I had churrasco skirt steak, shrimp parmigiana, and lobster ravioli. Everything was seasoned well and portions are perfect. The main problem here is service — super slow! While very friendly, there was only 1 waitress/hostess and 2 busboys. I’m more than willing to be patient for a good meal, however we arrived at 6:30 and didn’t receive our entrees until about 8:15 pm. Thankfully we had bread and salad during the interim. Ice House is a small place understandably, but having an additional waitress could be beneficial for all on a busy evening. FYI — Cash only ;)

Ice House Café and Restaurant is like the«Cheers» of the Bronx, you know, «Where everybody knows your name… And their always glad you came» But, with great food! I’ve been dying to continue my pumpkin quest, and found a gold mind here! I started with their scrumptious Pumpkin Corn Chowder and of course my Pumpkin Beer rimmed in cinnamon(Thank you Kelly) Our apps were bruschetta toast with chopped morsels of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, olives and basil on a perfectly crunchy petite toast round! We also enjoyed fresh mozzarella over slices of beefsteak tomatoes with fresh basil! My entrée was Risotto de Manzo which was perfectly seasoned and seared filet mignon over rice that had onions, tomatoes in a tomatoe sauce that was different and delicious! Should I even have to mention what my «Chicken ParmaJohn» ordered? Let’s not but he was very happy… as always! We ended with a heavenly piece of pumpkin cheesecake, which I was just going to «Try» and take it home to my son, well it never made it home! But Terry to the rescue with one of their decadent cupcakes to bring home! Thank you Terry! I love this place, it just feels and tastes so right!

Food was good. Waitress was a sweetheart. Ambiance was laid back. The chicken parm with vodka sauce was a nice choice. We’ll be back here.

Absolutely disappointing — there are so mAny good restaurants in Throggs Neck but not this one! Hour and half wait for a soggy iceberg salad and then another 20 minutes for so-so mediocre food. Waiter disappeared after drink order only to appear 2 hours later with the check. Sandy the waitress was pleasant and it’s only saving grace. Will never recommend nor return.

Lol, no. Waited an hour and a half for food to come out. Our waiter disappeared out of embarrassment maybe, so we tracked down another waiter — sandy– who was the only good thing about our night. Sandy was wonderful. But not her fault that a) 2 drinks in 1.5 hrs because of service, b) the food that FINALLY came out was completely mediocre and absolutely not worth the wait. It is worth mentioning that the owner, a middle aged woman, was strolling around the restaurant looking completely unaffected by the fact that most tables were not served food for HOURS! It would have been appreciated if she acknowledged our table and the horrendous service. She’s lucky that Sandy attempted to make some things right. But honestly, we would absolutely 100% never return to this restaurant and would never recommend that anyone goes there. Bottom line: don’t waste your time!

This was my third visit. I really wanted to like it. On first visit,(a few years ago) I was with a group. My food came out an entire HOUR after everyone else in my group had already been served, and finished their meal. Plenty of apologies, but still had to pay full price. I became the laughing stock of my group because of it. Second visit, a year or two ago — everything was fine, just super slow. Finally, third trip today. Food was excellent, hostess friendly. Food took a LONG time to come out(everything prepared«to order» is the warning expressed in the menu). After finishing our meal we waited almost 40 minutes, and still no waitress to check on us or give us our bill. We had to ask another waitress to get our bill. It was like as soon as our food was delivered, the waitress disappeared. Others around us got great service, but it was clear who was friends with the waitstaff. They got all the attention. One table(a medium sized family) had been sitting for 15 minutes before another waitress said to them«has anyone come to your table yet?» and the parents replied«nope! not yet…» It just looked very chaotic and disorganized. I also watched two servers clean the tables with the patrons already seated. This led to at least two people getting full-on blasts of windex in their faces, because of the outdoor breeze(one clearly had it in his mouth too, just based on his reaction/expression). Both patrons clearly appeared annoyed, one even taking his sunglasses off of his head to wipe them clean of the windex he had just been blasted with. I really really want to like the Ice House. It’s local, it’s quaint, it has gorgeous views and fun outdoor seating. But the service seems to have giant flaws that just made for an unpleasant experience for me, even after giving them a second — and a third chance.

We went on a Sunday. Important to say they don’t accept credit cards. Cash only! We had appetizers — I had the clam chowder. Nothing to call home about. The food was o k. — nothing spectacular. It was bland and ordinary. After the amazing views I was expecting amazing food. Didn’t happen. Our waiter — what can I say — must have been his first day because he was really a bad waiter. The $ 1 mimosas were fine just didn’t compensate for the food. First and last visit.

Located deep in Throggs Neck close to Silver Beach, the Ice House is a small, family-owned restaurant serving up solid food. The building is essentially a converted trailer; it’s unassuming on the outside but the inside is very nice — sort of nautical themed with light blues and lots of windows with views of the water. The menu consists mainly of Italian food — a nice variety with a «healthy choice» and lunch section. We skipped apps and just had mains — I went with the chicken and broccoli rabe hero sandwich and my brother had the lobster ravioli. I enjoyed my sandwich, the bread was soft and they were generous with the broccoli rabe, albeit the chicken breast was really thin and was too small for the bread. My brother enjoyed his dish — said it was some of the best lobster ravioli he’s had. Service was good — our waiter was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed my experience at Ice House. I wasn’t blown away by the food, but the prices were good and for what they are they do a good job. I hear they have a reputation for amazing wings so I would return for those and to explore their menu more.

I think that their food is good when you go in to the resteraunt but the take out isn’t. They are quite pricy and I don’t find that they have the best seafood in throggs neck. The people are amazing and very nice though.

I’ve lived in the BX for the last 9 years and I have never heard if this place. I really don’t know how this is possible… The Ice House Café was great! I found it on Unilocal whiles looking for a place to take my parents that were up from FL. We went on Labor Day with my family and the food was sooo good. It’s like comfort Italian meets seafood . Everything was fresh and delicious. The wings were average wings, the fried calamari was floured and fried light. The crab cake was very good– all crab and no fillers. All of our entrées were amazing. From the spaghetti carbonara, to the shrimp fra diavolo and even the eggplant parm. They know what they are doing in a place like this. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was kid friendly. I had a 4 month old and there weren’t issues. The décor was just very quaint-like something you find outside of NYC. The view was beautiful and you could even go out back to see the boats. This is definitely a keeper in my book and I plan to return for their Monday night unlimited pasta special.

I typically go to this place at least 6 times a year. I always get the shrimp scampi. It is delicious. However, I actually went in the evening this time and the service SUCKED. We were waiting at least an hour for food, the waiter must of been new. No water refills, no bread, no tartar sauce with the fish and chips. My husband loves the lobster bisque soup but he has struck out with the stuff he has ordered there. This includes the meatball sandwich, fish and chips, and pasta with seafood. I like the place because it’s close to home but I doubt we will be going back for a long time. They also don’t accept credit card and have an atm machine that charges to take money out.

I recently had the wings and lobster bisque soup here. I had the wings based on another review on Unilocal, but they were ordinary breaded fried wings like I have had a hundred times before. And I had to choose between hot sauce and blue choose, I guess I only got one. The lobster bisque was better than most, as it was not thick and pasty like most are when they are loaded with flour. The taste was good, but a little too strong, where you only want to have a few spoonfuls. The soup was nice and chunky and full of lobster bits.

Excellent food in a waterside setting. Seems like it’s family run. Callimari with hot peppers was outstanding. The menu is wide ranging, from burgers and wraps to full entrees. Nice outdoor seating as well.

Thanks to the TastyLadies I found this place. Excellent service and the food is awesome. We went there for Father’s Day and the owner greeted us warmly. A three course meal including desert for $ 35 per person.

The service here really is terrible. I came at a slow time — 3 pm on a Sunday. There was one server who I greeted at the door instead of the other way around. Had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to even get water. Food came quickly but I had to chase the server down to get anything else. Literally, after seeing her walk by my table at least 5 times without turning to me, I had to follow her to kitchen to get a 2nd drink. Evidently a single diner is not worth her time. Too bad, the food was decent. Just needs to get rid of the attitude problem. Won’t be back to find out.
