She’s a trip. Let me tell you, this woman is AMAZING, talented, and imbued with healing power from above. The only draw-back is that she needs help with time-management. After making an appointment, expect to wait for at least 5 hours. Really. I live exactly one block away and my experience mirrors those who have to pay one-way $ 15 cab fare. I make my appt., sign in, complete the insurance stuff, and go home. I check in several times per day and am able to finally see the good doctor. I have a skin disorder and found out that I was allergic to mushrooms because of Dr. Lafontant. She prescribed all meds needed to heal me, so for that I will be forever indebted to her. For birth control, she freely gives«starter packs» of name brand medication, and provides you with an ample script. She is awesome, thorough, and caring. If you sit in the waiting room long enough, women begin to talk out of frustration concerning the extreme wait times. If you ask them if it is their first time seeing her, they most likely will say,“no.” So what does this mean: She is A-MAZE-BALLS, but she schedules way too much people daily. After experiencing her, I have decided to stay with her because despite her bananas time-management situation, when I finally see her, I am cared for/treated like you wouldn’t believe. My advice to you: make an appointment(don’t ever just walk-in because that adds nearly 3 hours to your wait), expect to spend the entire day there(take the day off from work, school, etc.), and bring a very good book. She does have interesting magazines and a big tv though. Dr. Lafontant is well worth the wait, and you will be extremely happy with the care you receive. Also, the«Lafontant Experience» will teach you patience, which is, after all, a virtue. P. S. Her new location is at Pelham Bay Women’s Center, about ½ a block from the #6 Pelham Bay train station in the Bronx. Happy stirrups! Xoxo.

She is one of the best GYN’s out there. She will definitely address every issue you may have and always does a thorough workup to ensure there isnt something that you havent discovered yet. Accepts most insurance. However, arrive as early as possible for your appointment because you will have to wait a while. I dont mind waiting bc I always arrive early and I like the personalized attention. Waiting a while = if your appt is at 11am, you should get in by 9:30am-10am at the very LEAST to be in and out.

I stopped going to Dr Lafontant, not because of her but because of her office staff and policies. They give you an appt as well as fifty other people at the same time, I waited more that 4 hrs to see her on many occasions, ridiculous. The office staff are ghetto and sometimes you feel as though they are even talking or laughing about you. You can forget it if you have to get a sonogram, the blond head, heavy set woman is nasty and you would think that she is trying to unplug a clog in the toilet the way that she goes at you, very painful and she does not care. Wendy is way more gentle and she does care. Over all don’t bother going there, its a shame because Dr Lafontant is very good, she just needs to get rid of her staff, get a new office and have everyone seen by appt only and not all at the same appt time!
