National Bakery

Love this place. I try to come as often as possible but there is always a line and I don’t always have time. Coffee is to die for, 3 leches cake is so good too! Sandwiches are «okay».

Hole in the Wall. I have been coming to National Bakery for the past seven years. I know everyone is quick to say they are particular when it comes to eating out but trust me this place is a diamond in the ruff. The prices are decent especially for the breakfast specials — and they are very generous! I generally started coming to this bakery because it is the only spot in the area that serves freshly squeezed orange juice AND they make it on the spot so please be patient and don’t mess it up for me… there is absolutely nothing worse than drinking «freshly» squeezed orange juice that has been sitting for some time. They also make great meat patties; they are to die for and go out awfully quick. Once they run out they are not replenished for the remainder of the day — total bummer. I have purchased a great amount in advance for family gathering the past three years. I also enjoy the Rugelach… I am certain I have consumed better but they make a great treat if you get them once out the oven. In summary, the staff is polite and the customer service is good for being fast paced. If you want to beat the lines, arrive early but then again you have to be working around the area otherwise you can visit any other bakery. I generally get here at 7pm — no lines and everything is fresh. Oh, I also get my coffee here because they steam the cream for me!!! There is nothing greater than steamed cream in my coffee — reminds me of back home. I must not lie… entry to this hole requires an abundance of patience considering they accept EBT cards. Please don’t take this out of context as it does not apply to everyone but unfortunately at this bakery the line can become overwhelming but nothing becomes more irritating than being groped by men and woman under the influence. If you have a great sense of humor like me, just keep your ear plugs in and wait patiently in line.

Never go there again. I ordered 2 bacon egg sandwiches with a coffee. There is a sign that says bacon egg cheese w/​coffee $ 3.00. When it came to pay for the order they wanted to charge me $ 8.25 for the order. i ask why so much when the sign says $ 3.00. At first they didn’t want to answer me. After a minute or so, Their reply was you have to ask for that, it’s a special. I did!!! There was no sign that said special. Then a lady said oh, we put to eggs in it in a very rude manor. I felt totally ripped off. RUDE CUSTOMERS SERVICE. DO NOT EAT THERE. THEY don’t deserve a single star. I had give it a rating to post this.

Please, please don’t buy at this place. First of all, I have nothing against the place/​staff. Customer service is great, is just the cakes… are bad. I ordered a small and cute cake; which turned out a peptobysmol pink frosting… and as of the taste, it wad not good at all! I rather go to Biscocho de Colores, in Washington Heights. Their cakes are the best.
