So The Fairly New Palombo Has Been Nothing But A Disappointment. We The Bronx Community Always Love To See Existing Businesses Expand To New Heights & Stay Connected To Area’s Especially This Famous Spot. This Place Has Been In Disarray Inside & Out, Service Is Very Minimal & Really Doesn’t Connect With The Ambience Of The Arthur Ave Palombo or My Favorite That Closed In Riverdale. To Me A Friendly Smile & Welcome Is Very Important In Any Food Industry. I Give This Home To The Yankee’Stadium Spot A Big D– I Love A Nice Hot Tea With Honey, Unfortunately Not Here.

My husband loves this place for its coffee — he goes every day without fail. Staff is really friendly. They’ve got some pretty looking pastries — one thing I’ve noticed is that they will have the same old pastries in the display for weeks. For example, I noticed cakes that were set out and decorated for Halloween in October, still on display in December. The business is pretty new in the area. I hope they do well. I wish they had more savory options. One day sitting here I noticed several different customers came in back to back asking if the place served anything savory, but they were turned away. Its a good thing they began to make sandwiches.

Was hoping that this would be my every day café. I’ve lived 20 years in this neighborhood without a coffee shop and really wanted to support, but it seems the café is not interested in supporting the community. This is not a place you can go to work or have a meeting of any substance. Although I was using my own wifi, and buying drinks and food throughout the day the first time I visited the empty café, the second time I stopped in, my friend and I were asked unplug our devices after 20 minutes and then to leave after an hour. The café was completely empty. I could understand if it was busy or we looked unkempt or weren’t purchasing, but none of those things applied. I have looked up the cost of electricity for plugging in a laptop and it’s not even pennies a day. Starbucks has made an empire off of being generous to the community, and fortunately one has just opened three blocks away, so I am now a Starbucks customer in this neighborhood. I wanted to go with the little guy, but I feel unwelcome at Palombo’s so I won’t be back. The pignoli were delicious on the first stop in, unavailable on subsequent stops, and then clearly old when I found them again(also rang up to be about $ 1 each). Pastries are not baked on the premises. Also the bathroom door was impossible to open and in shoddy shape for a newly opened establishment and the windows are never washed so they are unappetizing as you walk by – the previous tenant, Burger King, did a better job of upkeep.

As a pastor with a church in this community I am very encouraged to see such small businesses like this one replace corporate businesses(in this case the old Burger King). They have great pastries, tasty sandwiches, plus good coffee! The service has been friendly towards to all of our congregants & I that have visited since they’ve open. — @PastorJnyc

Awesome pastries I am so glad to have a wonderful shop so close to home… About time Yankee Stadium area stepped its game up on good stores/restaurants… Who misses Starbucks when you have the original deal!!!

Surprisingly good and different compared to what’s in the neighborhood. You can get a ton of variety here that you can’t get without having to take a train or car ride. The only down side is some of the pastries that have filling taste old which is why I can’t give it 5 stars.

Great cappuccinos and lovely baked goods. Sit in the window and watch the world go by! Very friendly staff.

This neighborhood is long overdue of a family style pastry shop. Meeting clients for coffee and authentic Italian pastries offers a much better impression than before. Stop by Palombo and enjoy the aroma and ambiance of a true Italian bakery.

I give them at least two stars here because at least they replaced the old Burger King… so at least that part is an improvement. In heart of my neighborhood and was so excited when I heard a local Bronx shop with a good reputation was coming our way. Anyway, I gave them 5 tries before writing this review. But i’m sorry to report that Palombo’s Yankee Stadium location(i have not tried the others) is such a disappointment in fact, that it seems like it has to be deliberate. Before entering, you see the windows are marred by some kind of painted on graffiti(which they have not removed since opening), and also adorned with a crudely handwritten ‘Help Wanted’ sign, and another one advertising a breakfast special. Inside, the décor is old fashioned café style, with pressed tin ceiling. But the charming atmosphere ends there as the coffee and pastries deeply disappoint. Whether i requested a double, redeye or blackeye, they all pretty much tasted the same. The morning pastries are not fresh; they are dry, weak on flavor and taste like a day old(seems like they moved what they didn’t sell on Arthur Avenue down to Yankee Stadium). It is just a complete head scratcher — we are in such desperate need for a premium bakery café type of place like this here on 161 street– and there is a HUGE captive audience… but the management of this establishment seem to be oblivious or they just don’t care. Once again, it seems like a business has entered our area, to give us a watered down version of what they offer elsewhere. They’ve entered the market here with a very low end product… and i can’t see how they will be successful at wooing either neighborhood locals, courthouse employees or the stadium crowd. Better off to stick with Sheridan Market on the other side of Grand Concourse OR the brand new Starbucks– that just opened at Morris Ave. and 161 Street.

So happy to see such a great establishment so close to home. Stopped in for ice coffee and got to meet the owner. It’s not only a bakery, but a great place for lunch. Looking forward to more visits.

I sometimes work in this neighborhood and this is the nicest place to grab coffee and a cookie BYFAR. Great, friendly service, very good coffee, and great pastries!

Decent pastry when they decide to make it. Twice I’ve asked for lemon Danish and was given a pineapple one — I only enjoy pineapple in a piña colada! Staff is slow in the morning to fill basic orders and now they are expanding their menu. Arrive early and be prepared to wait. Their tri-color cookies and pignoli cookies are ridiculously good!

A great addition to the South Bronx. Fine selection of Italian cookies and some excellent baked goods. I hope it leads to other businesses taking the plunge. The neighborhood needs to be renovated from top to bottom and the bakery is a good start.

This place makes authentic pastries that make it so difficult to choose just one! They make you feel welcomed and even if is a quick stop before or after a game, it is a pleasant time! I had iced coffee and couldn’t pick just one pastry but they were all so good! If you walk in at a busy time be patient and trust me it will be worth it! Wish there were more places like this left in NY!

This place is amazing! This area has needed a nice coffee shop for a long time, and Palombo is such a cute, cozy little corner with amazing lattes and delicious pastries! I’m very excited to come back and sample everything they offer. The owner was there when we stopped by and he told me about the pizza ovens that he brought over from Italy. Such a great family spot, and finally an alternative to the sketchy bodega coffee nearby!
