Rambling House is an awesome pub on the Katonah Avenue strip. To begin, the establishment is roomy(compared to say, pubs in Manhattan) and lively, even early on a Saturday evening but you never feel too overwhelmed by crowds. Platters of food will buzz by your head as you choose which drink to order. I didn’t order anything but nachos, but those were some pretty tasty nachos with lots of ooey, gooey cheese. But let’s get to the meat(or not) of the review: the drinks! Rambling House has to be the most affordable alcoholic beverage establishment I have ever visited. We’re talking like $ 5 for a Bacardi and Coke, and the beers aren’t expensive either. Because of the affordability of the drinks, at least I assume so, everyone is in a jovial mood. No attitude, no pretense. Then again, I’ve found Woodlawn as a whole to be a very pleasant neighborhood. Brotip: they have darts and foosball!

Decent food, brews and ambiance. I’ve been here twice, once with my boyfriend and once with my parents. Tasty enough food both times, although the cheesy bacon bread(blanking on the name) was much better the first time, which leaves me curious about how consistent the kitchen is. Heavier food than I normally go for, but extremely satisfying.

Was here with some family. Three adults, a teenager, and two tweens. The place wasn’t busy but the service was on the slow side. The food was decent. Sampler platter was good except for the chicken tenders which was dry. I had a burger that I ordered rare and it was served medium. The atmosphere was enjoyable but there are better pubs out there.

3.5*** Ok so I came here to see Francine Tesler with a co-worker and ended up eating here. The portions were surprisingly huge. We shared the chicken tacos appetizers and it was so filling! For entrees, I got the shrimp scampi and my co-worker had the Shepard’s pie. I thought my scampi was just alright… definitely NOT worth the $ 18. I just felt like having that dish that night so eh. Next time, would definitely try their burgers. My friend was very satisfied with her Shepard’s pie at such a low price though. Ok so the reason for the 3 stars rather than 4 stars when it’s a 3.5 is because my tummy felt sick later that night. It was indigestion no doubt. My co-worker was fine… which made me suspect that it must have been the shrimp in the scampi dish… Anyways, the drinks are cheap and great here. The atmosphere is nice. I would definitely return but probably won’t eat too much food…

Stopped by on a Friday night with the husband and it wasn’t bad at all. The sampler platter is good, not spectacular, just good. I got the buffalo wrap, had it not been for the sampler, def would’ve ate the whole thing. The husband got the steak and won’t lie, but it was legit. Tasty, cooked just right and the sides were good too. I can’t complain about the food, they all came out in a timely manner and hot as well, not like they were sitting around waiting to be served to us. Drink specials are great and to be honest, the atmosphere is definitely for the younger, single 20 yr olds. All in all, good area, good food, good prices and great atmosphere!

I’ve never had worse. I’ve been here on several occasions, unfortunately ending up with the same inattentive waitress. We were a group, that came together and throughout the entire stay we got wafts of the worst mildew/sour/rotten/dead smell(likely from the ceiling vent). I’m surprised I didn’t puke up my food. That was the final straw. This review gets only one, purely because of the food. There was nothing bad about it. In fact, the Mac and Cheese is stellar.

This the worst for food. They a scampi. It a lump of pasta in center of plate and four shrimp on top for $ 18.00. That is lot for pasta with nothing on it. I fish and chips I got the fish completely black and fries over cooked. I sent the fish back and few minutes later same one. The way they treat people is a shame. I wounded why was very few people for Father’s Day. 90 percent are students including the person cooking the food. When you have the standing at front door chatting up the the lady’s. A bunch of students running around. It looks is run a cheap place. These people don’t know scampi is they should to good place they would find out.

I attended a private party at Rambling House last night. The Party Room was beautiful and warm, replete with its own full service bar and private rest rooms. The staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. And the food was delicious – not the typical substandard stuff one may expect from a buffet style party. Fresh, tasty, and great variety. I also checked out the main restaurant which appeared to be crowded and also featured the same warm ambiance of the private room. I will definitely return.

Love this place. Feels like home. Bartender knows my name. My husband doesn’t like the DVD lady, lmao. Come here all the time. Casual, no trouble, friendly, not expensive at all! Thank you George for always taking care off us, you’re the best!

I had the mushroom chicken entrée. It was fresh and tasty. The ambiance of the pub is a little on the dark side, but it is perfect for date night and/or a night out with friends to catch a game or two. I will definitely return to this pub.

Solid neighborhood bar! Gets super crowded on game nights &trivia nights. Great beers on draft! The one caveat i have to tell you is that if u eat anything other than fries or nachos you do so at your own risk. Their food is dreadful

Fun place, good food, however my boyfriend was there twice and got food poisoning both times. Second time he went with his best friend down the road for lunch, bonded with other guys who also had similar experience, shared some laughs, they all ended up sleeping on the toilet. Love the bar, but don’t like throwing up all night. Sorry guys, get it together please.

Great pub, lots of space. Well priced drinks as well. A great stop for anyone wanting to explore a cultural part of NYC that isn’t over advertised or touristy

I came here on a Sunday night to watch the football game and after sitting down and ordering I was loving the atmosphere. Nice Irish bar in the middle of the Bronx, which I never would have expected. I would come back here again for sure, but not to eat. The reason I gave this place three stars is because the food was mediocre at best. The wings were soft and lacked crispiness and I also ordered the Mac and cheese which was more of a cheese sauce, I wasn’t really a fan. The best part of my meal was the chocolate moose and vanilla ice cream I had. Despite the food here being mediocre this place does have great beer, and I’ll definitely back for a drink. The service was great although the waitresses could come around a bit more often

My very first time here. Not so bad. I didn’t really care for the food but the drinks were made just right. The lighting is dim but in a good way, ESPN on the TVs, music playing… It’s different than most places that I normally go to. I would come back but maybe just for the buffalo wings and drinks.

Typical Pub restaurant. Good food, good drink. I had the whisky bbq burger which was pretty tasty and my beer was fine. I know two soda drinkers at our table had some issues as the diet coke was flat, which they alerted to our server. It took her a really time… talking like 30 minutes for her to even come back which she had to be reminded that the soda was flat. But she did get the issue fixed and came back with new drinks, apologizing how long it took. While we were there, there was an anniversary party for an Irish couple, it was 50 years I think. They were really cute as they sang and had singers in Irish.

Nice looking pub and not what you’d expect up here… well, when youre a dickhead from Brooklyn like myself that makes assumptions about The Bronx & Yonkers. #lessonlearned LOL Anyway, great live bands. Big venue. My only gripe, which I have no right to gripe about, is that the average age is pretty young. Of course, I was also that age, so if I were still to be in my early 20s, I’d fucking love this joint. Definitely had lots of cute girls!

Great pub! Came here with a friend that lives in the area who loves this spot. The beers were good but I do wish they had a wider selection on draft. Prices were reasonable as well, this included appetizers. I ordered some mozzarella sticks which were HUGE and so filling, but a bargain at only $ 5. The one disappointment were the chicken nachos, which was far from what you would call«nachos». They basically served me chunks of chicken drizzled in some type of cheddar cheese. Obviously I will never order that again. The waitstaff was super friendly and accommodating, and the people in the bar were also friendly. Lots of cute guys too! I will definitely be back when I’m around the area visiting my friend. I’m dying to try their carvery, which is $ 10 plate of food and beers!
