The best Jamaican food in the Bronx if not all of NYC. It’s always busy especially during the weekend. I took a star away because of the long wait. The average wait time on a Friday night could be from 20 – 40 minutes but it is definitely worth it. The portions are huge, I usually get a large oxtail($ 15) and I have tons of food left over for a second meal. The rice and peas is moist, the oxtail is savory and the veggies are crisp and fresh. My friend got a large curry goat, it tasted great and I don’t even like goat that much. Although the food isn’t diet friendly, it is well worth the hearty, well seasoned calories.

Best Jamaican food in the Wakefield area! Lines are generally long; employees are generally but the food is bomb! My favorite is brown stew chicken with rice and peas. The fried chicken is epic as well. Get your food early on a Friday if you know you want it for after you drink lol. There’s also an «express» location on 222nd street btwn White Plains Rd and Barnes Avenue.

Tried this place for the first time and absolutely loved it! The chicken was well seasoned with just the right amount of jerk sauce. The Mac & cheese could be better.

Everything is delicious. Best Jamaican Jerk Chicken in NYC. My only issue is the wait. I’ve waited more than one hour for food… I did say everything was delish, right? Also, because the jerk chicken is in high demand, it goes really fast too. Along with the fried chicken. Three stars for the wait and quick run outs of food.

I hate this place! I pass it daily and the attendants are rude and stank! I don’t eat fried chicken so if that’s what everyone is raving about they can keep it. I’m black American. I don’t go to Caribbean places for fried chicken. They never have any food ever! If you gonna stay open all day and night have some– no cabbage at 1pm? Huh? On the off chance they do have some brown stew or jerk it’s underwhelming ! They’ve added smoothies and juices to the menu, I tried to get one. It look over 8 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me. I left. And the CUSTOMERSERVICESUCKSSOOOBADLY! It’s worse than all the other places in the area. The food is not good enough to tolerate the nonsense. Save yourself the stress– head to the Dumpling shop, Ultimate Grille or Chams. This place is the bottom of the barrel.

I’ve been here several times and the food is amazing. There fried chicken is the best and is always nice and crispy. The only problem is that it’s very hard to get parking and it’s always crowded on the tiny block and the line is always long but it’s worth the wait bc the food is amazing.

So, I actually revisited this restaurant 2 weeks ago when my mom visited for the weekend. This time, I had the opportunity to order and get food. They didn’t have fish(which is all I’ll eat) but my mom ordered curry chicken and she loved. It was quite flavorful and delicious. I see why people go there even with the horrible customer service. The people there still have horrible attitudes and bad customer service but at least we were able to get food this time. Progress, maybe.

Filthy, outdated dining area. Grade A posted in the glass encasement but ceiling has clear signs of mold spores. Floors sticky, with caked up grime. Dust clotted in the refrigerator vent. Chairs were all badly torn. No one sat while we were there. Food was just ok. We had: Fried chicken(white meat) — well seasoned but nothing spectacular. Very greasy. Mac & cheese — underseasoned. I really liked the cheese they used. Typical Caribbean spot — dem neva have nuthin. You have foot(cow foot) — NO You have jerk chicken ready? — NO You have fry chicken? — NO. Another 20 minutes. Ridiculous wait times. We ended up waiting close to 30 minutes for mediocre food. Customer service is great here. The counter lady was very nice once we cleared up that we had never been there before. These folks know there should be more food out at 1pm on a Saturday, they just don’t care. While in the waiting area we learned they have four locations. They drive Mercedes trucks… while you wait an exuberant amount of time for food that never comes out on time. Food was definitely not worth the wait.

Came here on a late night on my way home from work. The lady working the counter noticed it was my first time and offered me a sample of the fried chicken. It had to be one of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life! Brooklyn star’s fried chicken is also on the list. I ordered some to go along with rice and peas with oxtail gravy. The portions are huge for $ 9. I just wish it wasn’t so far from me but I’ll definitely be back.

The food here is great. I especially love the fried chicken, it is always well seasoned and fried perfectly. The brown stew chicken is another favorite of mine. I love that they have late hours. Patience is required, as during lunch hours or late night the line can be long. Food is worth the wait though.

The food is amazing. I absolutely love their Jerk Chicken, very flavorful and well seasoned. Their jerk sauce is also great. It’s one of the few Caribbean restaurants that are open late so whenever I’m having a late night craving I can count on them. The amount of food you get for the price is also another bonus, I always has leftovers that I usually take for lunch the next day.

Ill give this place 4 stars because of their fried chicken. Being west indian i should be used to slow service and attitudes but this place takes the cake. At any given time there is a line of 6 or more people waiting for one person to share food and the same person to ring it up. If you have about 30mins to wait then have a medium fried chicken with rice and peas.

This joint is all about the fried chicken for me. When I have a jones, and I don’t feel like breaking out the deep-fryer, this is the spot, Ignore the environs. It’s ugly as hell inside NASTY– think third world backstreet restaurant… I won’t even look in the bathroom, do take out, that’s what everyone does anyhow, and if your sensibilities are off put easily by bad aesthetics don’t even bother… BUT, you want fried chicken!!! If that’s what it’s all about at the moment well than… That yardbird is DEEP. Seriously subtle seasoning, just slamming, and it hits that spot. The rice is awesome as well. I haven’t ventured into the menu, and I may never, unless someone can recommend something else to check out. This is my go to when I’m seeking crispy fried bird like a moth to the flame.

So I went there to try the famous fried chicken box, the jerk chicken was sold out in the mid afternoon. The fried chicken is chopped into random small pieces, which I feel makes it harder to eat with all those bits of bone going in your mouth, and also it was a bit too greasy for my taste. I went here once and haven’t gone back.
