we had our end term party here last night and I was pretty impressed. great food and great drinks for what our money provided. only prob… and I don’t know if scavello’s has anything to do with this… the dj wanted us to dance during dinner. like we had just sat down from the buffet and he pumps up the volume. he was great otherwise but it was just awkward.

We had a family Christmas birthday party that was catered for about 100 people with top shield liquor included. Let’s say, the service was decent, the waiters ensures the tables were cleared so often, the food was ok, the cocktail hour was missing some appetizers and the worst part, the top shelf liquor that was included with out pricing, turned out to be diluted with water prior to being served — many of my guests were infuriated, especially myself. That was the worst and most expensive part of the party and it turned out we got cheated, which was not appreciated. I probably won’t be returning for catering services.

The only supermarket on City Island. Used to be solely known as IGA. It’s a fairly small grocery market and has a bit of a monopoly for the island. I used to spend whole summers at my grandparents house on the island so I am accustomed to walking down the aisles and helping my grandma reach things too high or too low.
It has a very nice family-​owned vibe. The staff has always been nice and helpful.
My only gripe is the parking. City Island has a double-​parking problem because there is just not enough room. Luckily there’s a fire lane to maneuver around double-​parked cars but still, it can be dangerous. I worry about my grandma when she parks across the street and has to cross since it is a very busy road.

I am a HUGE fan of the catering options at the City Island IGA. Paul is extremely flexible and accommodating in taking orders and fulfilling special requests, he’s happy to let you pick and choose from among his extensive menu to get exactly what you want. The food is exceptionally fresh too – when they deliver, it seems as though it was made just moments ago. Having had Paul cater three parties in the past year, I’ve sampled a LOT of the menu and there hasn’t been a disappointment in the bunch. The sandwiches are fantastic for a casual get-​together, and the Penne Vodka and Chicken Parm are phenomenal if you want hot food. Don’t miss the eggplant stacks as an appetizer. Enjoy your next party – let the IGA staff do the work!
