I am so sad they are closed. This spot brought so many memories of good drinks and amazing food. It will be so missed!

Very nice décor and good food. Will revisit this place. My sister and my friend loved it. Coffee was slamming!

I’ve been to SOS several times. The food seems over priced for what you get. I got the paella last time. It was a Traditional aluminum pan of rice with a few pieces of shrimp, muscles and other protein. For a main that’s almost $ 30 I don’t feel it was worth it. Additionally the décor is all white, which is usually a way of seeming high end without trying to bring in an interior designer. I’m an architect. I found the décor a little cliché. I just didn’t find the experience worth the almost $ 300 bill(4people). A few glasses of wine and a paella was over priced. Over the summer I tried to get a table and was turned away by the bouncer because I was wearing shorts. It was July and 90 degrees outside and we were not allowed in because two males were wearing shorts. This place is over priced and doesn’t realize it’s a neighborhood restaurant. No one is coming from downtown Manhattan to come here. Alienating locals whom spend triple digits is not a good business practice. The manager Lucas is a social character and seems to care about the place but some of the policies don’t seem very welcoming to locals. Best of luck to a place that has had a lot of turn over.

Horrible service uninterested wait staff all for not good food. The décor seemed nice but the waiter was almost bothered by talking our order the food took forever when we asked we were told that it wasn’t the waiter’s fault and that the kitchen is always messing up as a patron I don’t want to hear that. The food finally came and was cold not once did anyone try to help or fix the many problems. I will not be returning to this horrible place.

Came out on a Saturday for my second trip here. So far I love the place. The décor is nice and the food has yet to disappoint. The portions are huge so you always go home with left overs. I had a few long island iced teas which were pretty strong as well. Service was good. If you’ve been to Don Coqui or Sofrito then you will see this restaurant follows that trend which I like. I recommend it.

Went here for some drinks and apps this past Sat 2÷7÷15. The restaurant décor is nice and the regular mojitos I ordered were very good. Overall a quick peek at the dinner menu did not impress me but then again I was not having dinner. I can not complain about the apps I ordered, Dos de Tres and Shrimp cocktails. If I’m in the area again I might try too have dinner. For now, I would recommend this place to have drinks and apps for some Chill out time.

I felt bad just giving one star but I was hugely disappointed. Ordered mofongo. It was dry. The pork was decent. Drinks were good. Upon closing out of the bill, bartender put an automatic $ 20 gratuity on a $ 40 check. Thanks to my girlfriend, she informed me that was illegal. She asked the bartender what it was about and the bartender retreated and revised the check. But still put an automatic gratuity on the tab. There were no written policies on this. The women’s bathroom wasn’t all that clean either. Sitting at the bar made me miss the old Paddy’s though.

I went to Puerto Rico today and all that was missing was the sand! In a coconut shell here’s the run down, I went for their $ 9.95 Lunch special with choice of soup or salad, entrée and side with fresh fruit at the end. I started with Sancocho soup which is a meal in itself, a Caribbean stew of chicken, beef, ox tail, corn on the cob, potatoes that was seasoned just right! The only critique I can make is that the potatoes were undercooked. But the meat was fall off the bone amazing! Next I ordered the Bistec Encebollado which is sautéed steak with onions. I ordered it without the onions though and asked if I could have it with chimichurri sauce. Thank goodness my awesome waiter Eliseo talked me out of that and advised me the steak has it’s own sauce. When the steak came, I was in heaven! I have never tasted a steak prepared like this and adored it! The Arroz y Habichuelas(rice and beans) were just right, but too much, I had to take them home along with the fruit they serve at the end because the portions are huge! Thank you to their talented Chef Angel Ortega for a wonderful lunch! I had my perfectly concocted mint Mojito made by Eliseo as well(he is so good at so many things) and I was one happy tasty lady!‘ Along with the beautiful décor and a lunch well worth $ 9.95, this needs to be your next stop for lunch! Don’t forget to check out their karaōke Tuesdays, half off Wednesdays, ladies might Thursdays, fishbowl Fridays, pop off Saturdays and Sunday brunch!

I beg to differ with one Unilocaler– she mentioned that once you step foot here, you feel like you’re not in The Bronx. Well let me remind you, 787 is no different. Their décor– i. e, furniture and wall are spitting image of Don Coqui! There are a few things that I have to mention in my review… My sisters and I were seated, and I took in the sights-which I must say, is cute. The menu offered really nice and unique Brunch options. I just wished they could marry their main entrees with an equally balanced side. For instance, they had at least 2 sweet Brunch choices: 1. Pancakes w/dulce de leche sauce(I’ll explain later about the the sauce) and 2. Tostadas(If I remember correctly). However, sides for these sweet Brunch dishes were: rice & beans or yucca Frita. Really? They don’t go, but I have to admit, when I received my yucca Frita w/garlic — they were tasty indeed! Instead, what 787 should’ve paired sweet brunch items like these, would’ve been with a bowl of fruit. I went for the Pancakes w/coconut. My sisters each went for the Huevos en Burro. My dish had a ramekin of what looked liked maple syrup! What the hell! I thought I was getting a dulce de leche sauce!!! I mentioned to our waiter that the menu specifically said dulce de leche sauce not maple syrup. All he said was we don’t have any. Not a good response. Reminder, if you want to keep customers happy and returning, be up front and communicate to them about what is available in the kitchen and what is not! That’s all! About 5 minutes went by and our waiter comes in with what tasted like caramel sauce– not dulce de leche. I guess I can’t have it all! While we were having our meal, we had to ask our waiter to turn the AC off and raise the heat. I mean… it’s freezing outside why should a restaurant in the winter be cold? I don’t get it! But he came through and raised the heat. They sang Happy Birthday for my sister which was cute, we enjoyed the flan and the last of our cocktails. We get our check and gratuity is included! What the fuck for a party of 3 really??? For a party of 6 –I understand, but for 3 people? FYI– Mimosas are not included with your meal!!! I’m not dismissing 787, I believe they have to revamp their menu and get their act together.

They have happy hour during the week… food is good. Had the morongo and shrimps. The appetizer which was baked clams were overdone. Service was nice and pretty attentive and music was good. I’d go back. Also, the crowd is of a mixed age group.

Excellent Puerto Rican food. Everything my friends andOe have tasted was delicious. The drinks are also good and strong. The place looks like a beautiful winter wonderland.

Sat at the U shaped bar, with its white and blueish/purple haze hued lighting, which gives the restaurant an appeal as you enter; especially after dark. Good music playing in the background, big screen TVs surrounding the bar, comfortable bar chairs plus hooks for your pocketbooks. In addition, towards the back of the restaurant, there is a nice sized dining area. As for service, Michelle, our bartendress, was pleasant, friendly and couldn’t have been more welcoming. She fit that bill of, ‘girl most likely to succeed with her charm!’ I love that! She was really a joy to converse with. Smart girl, you get good tips with that attitude. After having a few glasses of wine at the bar we then decided to order to go. The Dos y Tres, came with a generous portion of small empanadas, a few croquettas and some other fried savory pastry apps, which we agreed we would definitely order again. Their entrees are al a carte, which after several vinos at $ 10 per glass made the bill a bit pricey. We ordered the Oxtail, which included a side of rice, plus we ordered a side of maduros for an additional charge. We enjoy oxtails whether ordered out or made at home. Though, on this occasion I should’ve just made them myself. Why on earth did we order the oxtail? The large cylindrical plastic container was generously filled to the top, but it was filled mainly with gravy and hardly any meat. But in retrospect they actually did us a favor by not including much meat. Eureka!!! I have just now figured it out! I’ve noticed a trend whenever I order oxtail from a Latin restaurant. No offense to my Latino friends, associates and family, but this could be just my experience when ordering out. What I’ve noticed is that the oxtail is generally sliced thin and served slightly undercooked which renders the meat tough. Thin and undercooked is NOT how Oxtails are done. Whenever I order from a West Indian restaurant they are always sliced thicker and cooked to fall off the bone tender perfection. So, that’s it! No more wasting money on ordering oxtails out. Now, I can see why I have been told by some folks that they have tried oxtails and say they are tough and don’t like them. Reason is, they haven’t had them from the right source. And BTW, the order of plantain(maduros) wasn’t ripe and was hard, that meal was a waste. Anywho, aside from the half and half food experience, I still consider Siete Ocho Siete a great addition to our Bronx neighborhood. 3.5 Overall

Had a delicious lunch here yesterday that did not disappoint. Started it off with a red Sangria which had just the right amount of sweetness to it. I had the skirt steak with the yellow rice. My coworker had the empandas and sancocho soup. Both meals were delicious. The service was very attentive as well. This is definately my new lunch spot.

Horrible service! On Mother’s Day, we waited over an hour and a half to get our food. When the food finally came out they forgot one person at my tables food and they that person had to wait even longer for their food. The whole place is kind of a mess. The food was good, but the service was so bad, I would never return. It sucks because there really isn’t a lot of good places to eat in this neighborhood, so all you really need to succeed is good food and good service and you are golden. This place misses the mark.

Went to lunch today at a friend’s suggestion. They did not disappoint. We had an appetizer of pastelitos which was crunchy perfection. My wife had the bacalao appetizer and finished all of it which is rare for her. My wife and her friend had arroz con pollo which they said was delicious. I had the verde salad and seafood paella. Usually calamari is cooked to a rubbery texture. This calamari was soft as well as tasty. The rest of the seafood was equally well prepared. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable. He made special drinks like virgin Mojitos. He even cleaned the table cloth between courses. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and I saw a pair of three foot speakers. If they use these on a Saturday night, I can understand the noise complaints. The restaurant is not very large and speakers that size would rattle your teeth. I would recommend weekday lunch. It was really good.

Went to their Sunday Brunch and was extremely disgusted with the menu options. I ordered the banana pancakes and instead received two small dry pancakes cut in half with a sparingly cut up strawberry for 12.00. When I asked about the banana the server said they were out of bananas. I Then ordered the French toast for 12.00 and got back some pathetic pre-packaged French toast they bought from Costco. My suspicions about the authenticity of the French toast were confirmed when I saw them take out the box of Krusteaz French toast to the garbage. I will say that the server and host were gracious enough to remove my order completely from the bill when I voiced my complaints about the quality of the food.

So SOBE chic. I love that these types of establishments continue to establish themselves in the BX. Didn’t really eat much but the Sangria, chicharron de pollo and the décor and service were all kick ass.

I have to say that I was definitely less than blown away upon first arriving. Hubby and I sat at the bar while we awaited friends. We had a reservation for my girlfriend’s birthday dinner. I ordered a top shelf dirty martini and he ordered a vodka server seltzer. My dirty martini was not dirty at all. It wasn’t even all alcohol. As far as I know, a dirty martini consists of vodka or gin, splash of vermouth and olive juice. My drink tasted like water with a splash of vodka and a splash of olive juice. Hubby’s drink was all seltzer. Ok, I feel like this… if you want to try and stretch alcohol, at least do it with mixed drinks. To try and serve watered-down pure alcohol drinks is ridiculous. Our friends arrives, we sat and ordered some appetizers. The Baked Clams and the Dos de Tres. Both were good. Hubby had the Arroz con Pollo which he enjoyed, my girlfriend had the Oxtail and she liked it very much. I tasted it and it was OK. Way different than what I’m used to, being of Jamaican decent but the meat was tender and the sauce was nice. My girlfriend’s boyfriend and I both had the Skirt Steak and Shrimp special. I asked for medium and he asked for medium-rare. Both steaks came out medium-well/well and I requested a new steak. At first, the server seemed like he didn’t want to take the steak back but he did and he brought me a new steak which was undeniably mid-rare and tasted much better. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I was a little annoyed by the steak and drink mishaps but ultimately, my meal was decent. While this isn’t exactly my scene, the décor is very sexy and the food was good. To top off the night, our server brought us some housemade coquito shots on the house and they were off the hook. Very nice. I make my own but haven’t had it in a long time. We may come back after some at-home pre-gaming for the food and ambience.

I came to siete ocho siete on a date Wednesday night for dinner. I really liked the ambiance. We had the relleno de papa for our appetizer which was delish! I had the churrasco for my meal which I also enjoyed. I had a passion fruit mojito which was very tasty then had a couple of henny coladas. The waiter gave us 2 coquitos at the end of dinner which was unexpected and very nice! Everyone who worked there was very pleasant and I have no complaints about the service. Overall, it was a very nice experience. I wish I had restaurants like this closer to me in Brooklyn!
