The pot roast here is killer. A really nice neighborhood place. The fresh ham is also fantastic.

Really good food! The service was so-so. They gave my husbands food to the wrong table and we sat for about ten minutes before I had to ask for a menu but the food was good we enjoyed it and it’s local so we would def try it again soon!

Family ambiance, lots of talking, television playing sports. I had the mini burgers. they were ok. Waitstaff was nice. If you are looking for quiet, This is not the place. Seems like a good spot to have drinks and watch games.

MMMmmmmm! Food was delicious and service excellent. I went for a luncheon after we buried a relative. We were a large group and they set us up in their private room on the side of the building(separate entrance). But the food was transferred from the main kitchen into the restaurant through a a small workers entrance. The restaurant appeared nice, clean and comfortable for a local watering hole. But we were directed to the party room. The food was set up buffet style. The chicken franchise was probably the most tender, perfectly cooked I’ve ever had. Fantastic! And let me say I’ve dined on franchise 2 to 3 times a week for years in Little Italy and Staten Italy. This was the best. The sauce and peppers was unbelievable. The pasta with tomato sauce good. The mashed potatoes very nice. I didn’t have the stuffed flounder but it looked good. The waitress was a working machine… she certainly earned her salary. Although tip was included, we gave her an additional tip from those at my table. I live 2 hours from here, but I’ll be back. It’ll help motivate me to visit my family in the area. I hear the steaks are really good. I’ll find out.

My waitress was very sweet and friendly but my food was not very good. Ordered wings and a house salad, the salad was not fresh at all with multiple withered pieces :-(. The wings were not very good either, perhaps I caught them on a bad day?

Very nice family ambiance. My waitress was very cute and sweet. Not loud or crazy. Just good fun place. The drinks here are really good. Not the martinis but the long islands are great. And the Pan seared scallops are delicious. Lost that extra star because they stop serving you after the 5th drink! I can understand if ure driving but if not why not let you get wasted n fall out.

The juicy hamburgers are the best. Sizzling steak fabulous. Guinness is just right. I also like the TVs showing the games. The fireplace is cozy. The waitresses are friendly. The service is a bit slow, so relax.

Crispy chicken ranch salad is amazing. I only come here for that salad. I have never ordered anything else because the salad is that good. Service on the other hand is always a bummer. If its during lunch or during dinner, the service is always way too slow. Majority of the time my friend and I wait 40 – 45 minutes for a salad.

This is my favorite neighborhood joint. The staff is super friendly! I love the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, it’s the best one in the Bronx especially if you like spicy. I also love the Baco-Chicken Ranch Sandwich, it is delicious!

Although the service is always friendly, I just found it to be way to slow and the food to be on the pricier side for average bar food.

I always enjoy going to the clipper. Its local and food is pretty good. I always go for the typical bar food but they do it well. I will definitely one day go and try one of their specials– It’s worth the risk. Beers are pretty cheap too. One star knocked off for SLOWW service. They waitresses are very nice but sooooo slow– even when it’s not busy. What to order: WINGS, Burgers, Chicken fingers What to stay away from: The mushroom quesadilla — it was tasteless and nachos really weren’t my thing

Sailing is a time honored tradition. Not an American one, but a human one. Going back all the way to Alex the Great. It’s what sustains us. Getting out on the water on a crisp summer day with a basket of calamari and not a care in the world. I used to own this wonderful clipper ship. I’d sail it around every cape I could. Good hope, horn, cod — all of ‘em. They were mine simply for the asking. The Throggs Neck Clipper is no different. Take a chance.

Pretty decent little local bar. I don’t go here to often, but I’ve stopped in on a few occasions with friends for a drink or two. Cheap beer on weekday afternoons…$ 1.25 for domestics I believe. And it’s cold beer too, which is always a plus and sometimes hard to find in this neighborhood for some weird reason. I haven’t had any of the food, but I’ve only heard good things. Remind me to stop by this place again soon. **April Underdog Challenge Review 24**

I have been going there for about 3 years now, I am a Student right down the road, who is not originally from the area. I used to like the place but I don’t know what it is, the last several times I have gone there my experience has been far from enjoyable. Either the food is poorly cooked or the service is poor, the wait staff give off a feeling that you’re a burden to them rather then a customer. The service at the bar was equally poor, the last time I ordered a beer they didn’t fill it up the glass all the way(at least an 1.5″ from the rim of the tall blue moon glass) AND it wasn’t even that cold. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt being that it was one of the first places I ate on East Treemont, but they just keep giving me reasons to not come back, so I won’t and I hope those of you reading this take my advice. Go to Patricias… they know how to keep their customers.

The usual neighborhood pub /restaurant with a nautical theme. The place was dimly lit, but clean from what I gathered. The only thing I really hate about this place is the carpeting in the main dining area. It’s dark and dirty from traffic and they should really consider replacing it. It ages the place unnecessarily. Granted, this isn’t a specialty restaurant you would travel from another borough to experience, nor does it pretend to be anything other than what it is: a nicely lived-in restaurant that serves its local patrons well. The food is good and cheap. The menu has a lot of variety — from the usual pub grub to some Italian and seafood dishes. I had a great fat juicy cheeseburger with a side of fries. I originally asked for onion rings instead of the fries and the waitress said they don’t offer that. I would have to order an extra plate of rings along with the fries. Hmmm. I let that go since the food and the overall service was really fine. I didn’t make use of the bar area, but it looked nice and inviting enough.

As a disclaimer, I live on the same block as this bar so it sort of feels like an extension of my house. That being said I really like the Clipper! It is pretty much always filled with people at the various tables or sitting at the bar. This place has some serious regulars, as well as regular staffers which is always a good sign in my opinion. I’m a beer girl through and through so that’s what I usually opt for although sometimes I’ll get a glass of red wine if the mood strikes. Sam Adams and Blue Moon are about as adventurous as the tap selection gets, but who am I to complain at $ 4.75 a pint? Also, they get very special happy and will offer drastically reduced drink and meal prices. March Madness games? Special. Thirteenth anniversary? Special. Yankees playing pretty much any game? Special. When it comes to food and service I would say it’s actually better than an average pub. I’m not even sure I would call this place a pub actually, I consider this place to be equal parts restaurant and bar. We’ve tried a lot of the appetizers and sandwiches by now, and have been mostly too cheap to buy the entrees although their signature sizzling steak platter makes my mouth water every time I smell it. Maybe one day. Highlights include the nachos and especially the wings which are the perfect spiciness to go with a nice cold beer. Nothing has really been bad, it has all been from average to above average. My main complaint is that they’re pretty strict about closing their kitchen by 10pm which is annoying. Who doesn’t love dropping by a bar around midnight after having a few beers and then ordering some jalapeño poppers? The answer is nobody. The bartenders tend to be a bit friendlier than the waitresses for the most part, but the service is definitely decent. The music gets pretty loud on weekend nights, and they play a really random mix, from top 40 hits, to classic rock, to traditional Irish songs to country one after another. They have a DJ I believe every week who is pretty decent and gets the older folks dancing and signing along which is great! There are dart boards although I have never seen anyone really use them. My personal favorite entertainment option though is the touch screen game system where I try to break the high score of Funky Monkey every time I go. Even after I get that #1 score… I will continue to come to the Clipper. It’s just too good to pass up.

Decent bar in the Bronx. They offer happy hour specials every Friday from 4−6pm. Monday to Saturday they offer a $ 5 lunch special and $ 1.25 domestic beers weekdays from 9am-6pm. If you are going to try their food, the two popular options are the cheeseburger/fries and the 18oz Sizzling Black Angus Shell Steak Platter. During Monday Night Football games the bar offers 25 cent wings with 8 different flavors. I was indeed here for a game a few years back and had a good time, but not a place I would go out of my way to visit again.
