Came here the other night as a meeting place for everyone to gather before the Blue Jays game at Yankee stadium. It’s a bit unassuming from the street, definitely very close to the stadium which is great but you could easily miss it. The awning is fully advertising the empanadas and the store looks like a deli, not a bar. There’s a small banner flush to the façade of the building that says it’s a bar so I had to run upstairs a few times when people weren’t sure where they were. So anyways you walk past the deli counter and down a set of stairs to find the bar. A bit dark and a bit cold but the beers are cheap and the music was lively. It got pretty busy as we got closer to the first pitch. There aren’t many chairs so most people stand around the high top tables. The cell phone service is spotty but they have free wifi which I decided not to get on because they make you give them your email address to join the network. It’s perfect for a cheap drink before the game but I wouldn’t want to spend much more time here than that.

I complained about the service and management only to get blocked by management on Instagram. I simply came to enjoy their happy hour specials but couldn’t do that because there was NO bartender I waited around for twenty minutes or so still NO bartender I mean I could of when behind the bar and made a drink myself i go upstairs to inquire if there’s a bartender on site only to get brushed off by a gentleman behind the counter who obviously doesn’t speak a word of English. Management sucks if their is management never coming back to this place again it’s not worth it

i really didnt like the management structure. it was all good so i really don’t what happen. every wednesday night there is an open mic there. now its cancelled. who cancelled it and why. i have had my share of experiences with the yankee bar and grill and i have put many people on, but i think its time to part ways. there has got to be place better than this, word of caution; without the wednesday night open this place is only good as a dive bar during baseball season.

Go for the beer, stay for the empanadas. They’ve setup«Monumental Empanadas» at the street level. The bar’s in the basement. It’s clean and the ladies tending bar were very nice and very efficient. They’ve got a full bar with about any libation you’d like, plus giant Corona, Buds, Stella & others. Plenty of 12 oz. offerings too. The owner’s very friendly too. Had shrimp/beef/cheese/cheesesteak empanadas plus beef Bola de Yuca. Not the healthiest fare, but great with beers. For desert try the Papaya/Cheese empanada!

Love this place! We stop here before every Yankees game. You can’t beat the price — 24 oz of beer for $ 10! They have a good selection too which is nice. The bar is slightly hidden given that it’s downstairs, which is nice, because if you don’t know the area you probably wouldn’t find it. It does get crowded, but it’s always manageable crowd. The staff is also great, super nice and lots of energy. Definitely stop in for a beer or three before a game!

This is the place that you should go before a Yankees game if you plan on having a couple of beers. There are a couple of reasons: 1.) The price — literally every 24oz can/bottle(as far as I can tell, this is all that they sold) was $ 10. You will NOT find a better price around the stadium, and certainly will not find a better price inside(you’ll pay more for 16oz.). I usually get Sierra Nevada. 2.) You can breathe! Stan’s is the most famous, and is therefore the most packed. It’s damn impossible to get a beer in any decent amount of time before a game, and you’ll pay more per ounce. There are other bars that give you space, but they just feel like clubs. Before a ball game, I just want somewhere that is quick, dirty, and cheap. Yankee Bar & Grill is that spot for me — the only place I go if I have time before first pitch.

This was definitely an interesting place. It is in a basement type atmosphere and was freezing cold. Not sure I would go back again.

economical drinking before heading to Yankee Stadium is a great idea, and Yankee Bar & Grill is the joint to git ‘r done. just a hop, skip, and a stumble off the train station too! pounding down $ 10 tallboys of Blue Moon, Sierra Nevada, and other tasty brews before the Roger Waters concert the other night was excellent. why pay the same price for half the amount of beer inside the stadium? hello, McFly?! it’s a remodeled basement, with some standing room upstairs too, so it feels a little claustro, but not to the point of being unable to move. fairly clean and staff works fast at keeping the beer flowing. cool thing is, they have a camera feed of the upstairs area, so you can scope it out if the basement is getting cramped, or want to judge the line for food. oh, and their air conditioner was on full blast! excellent.

Just a down and dirty no-frills spot to grab a monster 24 ounce tall boy beer before a game. Been dropping by this place for years to hang out and get a buzz on and it’s a fun little place. The little bar and food area on street level was nothing to ever rave about but this past weekend when I dropped in I saw it was remodeled and looking nice. I have never ventured down to the ‘basement” but have heard it also has been remodeled and upgraded, along with a full bar down there. This place is old and has been around since the old Yankee stadium was erected. Staff always has been friendly and courteous too. It’s neat spot to pre-game and have a few beers while chatting with other fans. Hey, on Friday nights before game time they give out free jello shots with each beer purchase while supply lasts!

Once again Toot and I hit the Bronx to see our beloved Bombers. Early Sunday game so when we arrived we were bummed to discover that the bars around the stadium can’t serve until noon?! I was kind of hard on this place last review but now I’ve ‘warmed’ to it and actually go here before every Yankees game I attend. The owner was kind enough this time to point out a few ‘ticket brokers’ to whom I could attempt to sell my 2 extra tics. As I had received all my tickets gratis I was not looking to make much money on them and was looking for a quick sale. Made a deal with one of the dudes there and sold him my 2 tickets, $ 175.00 face value, for $ 150.00 total. The guy and his son that showed up next to us paid $ 250.00. So everybody was happy! Toot and I were the 1st patrons of the day at the Yankee B & G and had our usual 24oz brews in the quickly filling up basement. The place gets packed fast and there is still a little claustrophobic feeling of being in a basement bar with very limited means of egress in the event of an emergency. But screw that, it’s the Yankees; Yankee fans getting fired up for the game; hot girls in Swisher jerseys; $ 824 oz’ers; and the feeling of stepping back in time while drinking in a place that was built the same year as the OLD Yankee Stadium=priceless. I heard from the owners based on my last review and they have made improvements in terms of remodeling and they now have a ‘full bar’. I’m told that they will have a ‘Joe Tuna’ from the Food Network manning the kitchen on weekends. It still doesn’t look like much from outside but I’m thinking now it’s the only place to go prior to the games.

The menu options aren’t huge and the food isn’t spectacular but they have the best deal on beers on River Ave. It’s often loud downstairs and can get crowded easily. They have a nice selection of beers and hard liquors . Also, beer pong. If that’s your thing.

This is the spot to pregame before heading into the stadium. I discovered this place walking down River Ave killing time before the Yankee game and was happy to come across it. THEREARENOBELLSANDWHISTLES this is straight up Tall Boys(24 oz.) served in a basement. The food is not great, and for 10 bucks its the most expensive Tall Boy you will ever buy. But compared to the prices and size they give you at Yankee Stadium this is a value.

While the bowling alley is closed for repairs, this is my pre-Yankee game meeting spot. And it may stay that way for a while. Forget the food, who orders food before Yankee games? You either eat in the stadium or bring a sandwich from a place near home. We first went to this place for the last game in the old Yankee Stadium, not believing there was actually a bar nearby that sold 24oz beers for $ 8. Then, when the bowling alley bar closed for renovations a few weeks ago, we needed a new meeting spot and picked Yankee Eatery. The basement is kind of small, maybe the food isn’t so great, but it’s filled with Yankee fans and you can get 24OZBEERSFOR $ 8. That’s all you really need to know.
