so I usually only review things when I really love them or really hate them. I really love slave– I’ve seen some other comments and for sure there is a «cooler than thou» Sarah Lawrence clientele but who really cares — it’s not a nightclub, you’re getting your coffee. which, let’s get right to it, is awesome. I go every week after my workout class for a coffee and have started getting my ground coffee there too because it’s just so good. dancing goat is super amazing, and they have tons of flavors for the iced coffees which is unique for a coffee shop in my experience(usually only hot flavors are available in a variety). the guys who work there are super friendly and helpful and appreciative of your business. I definitely recommend to anyone in the area or visiting. I’ve been coming here for about 15 years, so I can tell you the following: 1. it’s great coffee and delicious fresh-made baked goods(gluten free cinnamon toast? holy yum– and I’m not even a «gluten free» person), and 2. the«cooler than thou» crowd has been and will always be here to stay, so try to get over it and just enjoy the goods! :)

No coldbrew, but cool decorations. A good addition to the neighborhood.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because they played Devil & God on a rainy day and my mocha was strong.

I love Slave To The Grind! I loved their sugar cookie iced coffee, and tasted like an actual sugar cookie. I also love their hot chocolate in the winter.

I had heard about this place for MONTHS until I finally got the chance to try it out and it was totally worth it! It’s conveniently in the middle of town and next to a whole bunch of other shops in Bronxville! When I first walked in being a newbie to the shop I had absolutely no clue what to order and the friendly staff behind the counter was happy to help and answer all my questions! I quickly noticed that they had some fun and original flavor options and decided to go with an iced sugar cookie coffee! Yum! That’s my flavor choice whenever I go now. I also tried one of their giant cookies and it was absolutely delicious, tasted fresh, chewy and sweet! Would definitely recommend trying this place out! The only thing is the parking can be a bit tough since it’s street parking and Bronxville does tend to be a little hectic at certain times in the day.

I come here every morning for my coffee. wonderful staff, clean and neat. although they tend to run low on coffee, it’s a pretty busy place. they get right on it… this place is a lot better and friendlier than the Starbucks down the street.

This place can get crowded, but somehow it never feels chaotic so long as you’ve got a seat. The coffee and food are both better than the Starbucks down the road by the train station, and the people(e.g. the customers) are usually more pleasant. If you come here to study, be warned that the wifi can be spotty – but think twice before going to the Starbucks. The one nearby seems to play host to some number of retirees that like to have long, loud, explicitly and unapologetically racist conversations over coffee. I don’t know if they’re the same people or how often they actually go there, but I’ve left the place more than once because of it. Now I only go to Slave to the Grind if I’m planning to sit down. Note that you need to use cash or be prepared for a card surcharge.

Love this place! Been coming here for about six years now! This used to be one of my favorite spots when I was in high school. I love local coffee shops that don’t have a brand name like(Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts.) There is something so cozy and warm about this place. The people that work here especially are always so friendly and helpful. I wish it was 24 hours because it would be the perfect coffee shop to come after 2am with friends or to just relax and read in when you are up late. They have an amazing variety of coffee — definitely plenty to choose from. If you are in the local Bronxville area you should definitely stop by. Give Starbucks and Dunkin a rest — you can find them anywhere! This place is definitely a special find :)

Really bad coffee and worst cappuccino I’ve ever had. The tables and floors were dirty. The staff — not so friendly. I would not recommend this place no matter how cute you think it would be hang out here.

I would have rated it better but they played the worse music ever! Like someone was dying in the bathroom! Four parties left! And they were different ages. Spoke with some outside and we ALL agreed we couldn’t take anymore! So it wasn’t age just really bad choice of music! The manager would have not been happy!!! Otherwise the Chai was very good! Not much of a dessert selection either.

I love-love this place. I am a huge fan of local business and especially coffeeshops. I have to admit — I am more of a tea fan but the coffee is not bad. I am grateful to this place because it has provided me with a space to go and read or work on my work emails from my «coffice» I recommend folks go and check this out. Support a local coffeeshop. We have very few in the lower Westchester area.

Today, I wanted to go on an extended field trip. I’ve done many errands in Bronxville, but today, I had all the time in the world to explore. I’ve read many reviews for Slave To The Grind and seemed pretty good. They concentrate on coffee– and so many they offered! Since I’m not a coffee drinker… I went ahead with their Cocoa. Ryan did I a great job at pulling my leg and telling me «they were all out of hot cocoa». WTF… Whaddya mean you got no hot cocoa? You’re freaking out of chocolate? I was ready to jump across the counter and do some madness up in here — ;-). He had me for like a minute. But then he fessed up– and I was cracking up big time. The interior is very cute and intimate. It has this nice, soft dimness to it. Front part of the café has small tables, off to the middle right, there’s a small counter and stools, adjacent to that, it’s their main island where all the concoctions are prepared. Counter is filled with condiments: sugars, cinnamon, stirrers-you name it they have it! Towards the back, Slave has a few more small tables. Ryan did a mean job at preparing my hot cocoa with whip– which was delicious. Honestly, with all this coziness going up in here, Slave To The Grind is missing a nice sofa to add to their cozy energy. The only things I needed, were my Ugg warm and snugly slip-ons and my flannel pj’s to complete the look and create an even more of a cozy vibe.

This was the worst coffee I have had at a coffee shop. It was cold. And flavored coffee came out of the regular coffee carafe. Horrible! The hot cocoa was watery but was supposedly made with milk. I will never return.

Best café in Westchester Country. Awesome cappuccino. Best barista in all New York is… Kade! Ask for Kade. He has the skill to get the cappuccino hood right — earning the history of its name after the hoods of Capuchin monks. Great selection of coffee beans. Decent snacks baked off-premises: muffins etc… Bottled Pellegrino. Upbeat energetic atmosphere; always good music. Bathroom on ground floor. Cool art on walls. Great rock ‘n roll tatooed guys as bariste who take pride in their skills. Great to hang out, read(free books on shelf), always a friendly conversation to be had. If you drive, bring quarters for the meter, and watch the new night regulation on meters… keep feeding time. then relax, write a poem, get your work done.

Iced vanilla chai = heaven Not happy about the increase in prices, but someone(the customers) have got to pay the rent. The bathroom still wreaks like it did fifteen years ago. I love the look of the place but they have got to reno the bathroom. Same people still hang around. It’s nice to see old faces.

Oh slave! How delicious you are! Their coffee is amazing! Their vanilla chai latte is good, hot or iced. their blondies are great! And everyone is really friendly. I love getting coffee and then just walking around the little shops in Bronxville!

Back to one star. Talk about inconsistency. Staff was totally rude and acted like they were doing my friends and I a favor. Um, hello… it’s your job to make me a drink and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Haven’t been here in months, so I figured I’d stop by since I was in the area and get the only good drink they have which is their vanilla chai, but somehow that’s become disgusting as well… just like everything else they make. It tasted like straight up milk. Never coming back here again. Their drinks wouldn’t even be worth it if their«baristas» were nice. I don’t usually like to be this mean when reviewing an establishment but this place gets no respect from me whatsoever. If you enjoy being talked down to and ordered around by a bunch of jerks who can’t make coffee, than this is your place!

Love taking a trip to Slave every morning I have a few extra minutes. Their drip coffee is excellent and well priced at $ 2.50 for a huge 20oz. They have fun flavors like red velvet, White Russian, crumb cake, banana caramel, Irish coffee, toasted almond, etc. Their espresso and latte drinks are also good but take longer to make and there is usually a long line of college or high school kids. Their WiFi is fast and reliable, they just upgraded from cable to FIOS and their password is ridiculously difficult(don’t they know they can reset it to something easier?) but the downside is you’ll often find an encampment of laptop lurkers that make it difficult to grab a prime table by the window.

When it comes to coffee, it’s hard for me to try new places. I know what I like and I usually stick to it. However, I’m looking to extend my java branches — so on the recommendation of multiple people I decided to try Slave to the Grind. The layout of the place is very simple — you walk in and there are tables/chairs to your extreme left with the counter following. There you will find the creamer/sweetener station in front of you with a menu above it on the back wall which displays specialty drinks they can make. Walk a little further down and you’ll find a variety of brewed coffees which are self-serve. You can choose three different size cups — all reasonably priced. The coffee itself was good — bold and flavorful. Besides the drinks there is not much else to choose from; there is a small selection of baked goods on the counter but thats it. I didn’t mind though because the coffee is the star here. The place itself has that coffeehouse feel to it; it’s not pretentious and has a very relaxed feel to it. Overall, I’m a fan — the coffee is good and it’s a nice alternative to the chains.
