Hair Color To Go

I purchased and redeemed the livingsocial deal back in March. Being new to Milwaukee and needing a cut and color, but not really knowing any salons in the area, I thought why not?
I arrived at the Mader building on the day of my appointment, not knowing what to expect. The salon was in the lower level of the building, definitely a work in progress. Ted, an older Irish gentleman, greeted me when I walked in and was just finishing up with a client. When it was my turn, he immediately began asking me questions about my hair, analyzing it, comparing it to swatches, and noting his results on a client card, which he was going to put in a database, a small, black file box. He conferred with his daughter, about the best color and appropriate action for my hair.
My hair had been previously colored with box haircolor, and he immediately recognized and addressed how that made my color uneven, when comparing my roots and my ends, and my hair porous. He attempted to strip the ends, using an all natural product, which I appreciated, to even out my hair. He then colored my hair with the color we decided on. It worked! I don’t think I’ve ever had a more knowledgable hair colorist. My hair was then trimmed and then diffused to bring out my natural waves. I loved that he used Moroccan Oil products, which I had just recently begun to use and love, on my hair.
I hope this little salon flourishes with their planned renovations and the livingsocial deal. No products were ever pushed, I was only recommended what I really needed and what could easily find at the drugstore. I felt welcomed, and like I was at a friend’s place that did hair out of their house. You can tell that Ted, who mentioned that he taught at Vidal Sassoon, knows his stuff and only wants what’s best for your hair.
My color is still lasting, and I would definitely go back there again. I love that they offer custom mixed take home color, which I probably won’t try, only because of the length of my hair and my fear of making my color uneven again. If your in the area, I recommend you give this place a chance, it isn’t your high end salon, but the results and the service given are high quality.
