Stopped for dessert and a couple of drinks. Beer menu was short but included all the staples; I enjoyed the bourbon cask ale and the stout. The crème brûlée was not very good. The custard is not the right consistency and they cover the whole thing in whipped cream and strawberries. Id recommend they revisit this with a better custard recipe and a lot less toppings. For some reason, the greens were still on the strawberries…

We went about 5:00 on Saturday so it was early, but there was barely anyone in the restaurant. The ambiance was strange, it was 80’s/ early 90’s elevator music but much more contemporary rustic décor. That didn’t mesh. Loved the décor but need to work on the music. The wait staff was efficient, maybe a tad unfriendly. The food was decent. I had a roasted beet salad, and it was pretty good. My husband had a burger. He was looking forward to the preparation with it being wood grilled, but said it was overcooked and pretty bland. The concept was great. Just can’t quite deliver.

New in town, trying to find restaurants that make dishes from scratch. Hom hits the mark for«made from scratch» but falls short on finishing the dish. I ordered the French onion soup based on rave reviews from others, I figured it would be one of the best. As it turns out, it was ok, but not great, almost too many onions and light on flavor. I chose beef stroganoff for my main course and it came piled high with french fried onions??? I must have missed that detail on the menu. It seemed to be an odd pairing but maybe I was just onioned out after the soup. The stroganoff was ehhh. I won’t order it again but I will come back to try some other dishes as it is obvious they use good ingredients.

We stopped here on a Saturday night for dinner. It was quiet with just one other table in the dining room. Overall, we had a nice experience, the food just wasn’t memorable. Love the concept of the wood-fired theme with locally sourced ingredients. That to me says fresh and flavorful. The presentation is beautiful all the way around from the website to décor to plates, but the flavors are MIA. We had the pot roast and veggie lasagna and they were both pretty boring.

The food was great and the beer list looks great, 5⁄5 on that. My problems were with my experience, we will be back here though. The ambiance is a nice intimate restaurant with dimmed lights at the tables and privacy panels but it was very loud with the bar and all of the other diners. None of the wines on the menu has names. And my server was nice but very quiet and did not fill my empty glass. When we got the bill it was like we were no longer there. Very disappointed BUT I’m hoping it was just the awkward table and one poor server.

I really wanted to like Hōm. As someone who’s stuck in Brookfield but delighted by non-franchised non-bland spots, this place had all the potential. And then it delivered a typical Brookfield experience I was praying to not have. So the good stuff: the environment. Very cute cohesive atmosphere that lends itself well to its farm to table theme. I also like the farm to table aspect– you don’t get that often around here, so the fact that they do it so extensively on their menu was great. The last good thing was the old fashioned. I had the blackberry one and it was delicious albeit maybe a slightly lighthanded pour. As for everything else, it was all incredibly underwhelming. Mind you, nothing was outright bad, but it certainly didn’t impress. Truffle crab dip has an impressive name and description but just ended up being an overly oily, only slightly truffly dip that I could have made in my own kitchen. My girlfriend’s steak was grossly overdone(grey throughout) and tough when she ordered medium, and her mashed potatoes were just meh. They didn’t even deliver her a steak knife until she asked for one after the meal was delivered. My salmon was cooked well, and the sauce was interesting and I can’t complain, yet it’s definitely nothing remarkable enough to order again. If I’m going to pay over $ 100 for that kind of experience for dinner, I’d much rather go to my mom’s for a meal. She cooks at about the same blandness level.

Been here twice now. First time had the lazy Susan app at the bar with an old fashion and later a Negroni. Everything(food, drinks, service) was excellent and well worth the slightly higher than average MKE suburb prices. Second time had the lobster Mac and cheese and a Malbec while the GF had the roasted beet salad and a Moscato. The wines were good but the food and service at the bar were bad. Lobster Mac and cheese had a few small shreds of lobster and 1 so-so piece in a cream sauce with melted cheddar on top. VERYDISAPPOINTING. Even at $ 18 I expected a little more. The GF’s salad was off and had a weird after taste. Bar service was not good and nowhere Surg Group’s standards. Won’t be coming back — plenty of better options for the price.

We both had French onion soup for starters, and both of us agreed that what they gave us was about a four-star rating — there are places near us that do a total kick-ass FOS, and some that probably open the Campbell’s can, and HOM is near-but-not-quite kick-ass. Bonus props for their using New Glarus Spotted Cow in the recipe :-) My bride had the beef stroganoff — now realize that she makes a pretty good stroganoff herself, and she was just nuts over how good this was.(The leftovers came home with us and she went nuts over it again.) I had the bacon-wrapped sirloin with vegetable gratin; the steak was awesome and done exactly as I like it, but the veggies didn’t have much of a crust which I would expect in a gratin. The veggies themselves were nicely grilled. Dessert was where we had a wrench tossed into the works. We decided to share the s’mores jar, which promised graham crackers, chocolate mousse, and marshmallows. What we got was a place with a large dollop of cocoa-dusted chocolate mousse, a somewhat smaller separate dollop of what looked like whipped cream(and tasted somewhat of marshmallow), and no graham crackers we could see. Now to be completely honest, all this stuff tasted very good, but still, it was like listening to the end of your favorite romantic song and all of a sudden the record skips and all of a sudden it’s techno :-) Maybe this was intended to be a deconstructed s’more, I dunno. Again, this tasted VERY good, but wasn’t really what we expected. Overall, I like the farm-to-table concept and HOM pulls it off better than a lot of places near our home. The service was excellent, the food was flavorful and well-prepared, and when the check arrived, I’d have to say we got our money’s worth and enjoyed a couple of good meals. HOM goes on our«let’s eat here» list the next time we’re in the neighborhood. I’d give HOM a good 3.5+ rating; the only real issue keeping me from giving the fourth star is that some of the food seems to change a little between menu description and what gets piut on your plate. Better menu descriptions would help this situation, because what gets put on your plate is just fine.

Very good food, decent prices and warm atmosphere. We always have good service here and the staff is very knowledgeable and eager to share where their food comes from and why it is different. Great concept and nice staff!

Stopped in last night for the first time. The restaurant is dark and clean. This would be like an upscale machine shed type of place. The waitress was very well versed in the brand story and explained the fresh food made from scratch story to us. She also mentioned it was a new menus and that place would moving a little slow that evening. We ordered out food and it actually came or very quickly. She did forget my drink until I had reminded her after my food showed up. I would say the service was average the Restaurant atmosphere was above average and the food was 5⁄10. One of those place where you are not opposed to trying again but you don’t make it a priority. I wish I had enjoyed this more because I liked the atmosphere a lot however it was missing a «hook» that something that makes you want to come back.(I should note that I do not like corn bread)

My wife and I tried this last night. We started with the corn bread appetizer, which had a chili butter — awesome! Food quality was excellent, my wife tried the chicken pot pie(awesome) and I had the blackened scallops. Both were prepared to perfection. The menu is extensive, great drinks, and great prices. We will be back.

Thank you DINEIN Brookfield week! I’m so glad Hom participated this year and I finally got to try this place. Everything was delicious! We each chose from the DINEIN menu which included beer cheese soup, wood grilled chicken with veggies in pomodoro sauce, and a cookies and cream dessert. Hom made the beer cheese soup their own with it’s intense creamy, cheesy goodness and garnishing it with popcorn for a fun twist. The chicken was also very good with the pomodoro sauce really kicking it up to make super tasty. By far though the dessert was the best! Deconstructed chocolate cake with a chocolate parfait over some hot fudge and sprinkled with some cookie and cream crunch. We also started with the cheese curds thanks to a GREAT recommendation from our waitress. I’m not kidding when I say these are some of the tastiest and cheesiest curds I’ve had(and I’ve had a lot of curds!). They are lightly battered in spotted cow with clock shadow creamery cheese and it just doesn’t get any better! And if that sounds like a lot of food… it totally was! Even though it was DINEIN week this place didn’t skimp on the portion sizes, and I left with a complete other meal to take home. Other highlights include the wonderfully knowledgeable wait staff, and the top notch old fashioned drinks! Great night out!

Very average food(not bad, just not that great), but the décor is very well done. You can definitely tell they put a lot of thought into making the place look really good. The bar upfront is huge with a very tall vaulted ceiling. An impressive first impression when you walk in. The food is fine. You will probably not remember what you ordered after you leave. They mostly have standard entrée options(pot pie, salmon, steak, burgers, etc). So, this is a safe place to take someone that doesn’t like unfamiliar things I came with a group and we all ordered something different so I got to try 5 or 6 of their dishes. All were okay, so I won’t even list them, because meh. Be prepared to be whelmed to neutral(neither over nor underwhelmed).

If you’re craving classic Wisconsin food, come to this place. Had the cheese curds, shrimp cocktail, and tater tots as appetizers with some coworkers. I will say, I don’t even like cheese curds but these were good! For dinner, I had the house salad which was delicious. I will say, bring a flashlight: the bathrooms were so dark, I couldn’t see anything!

We stumbled upon this place after driving around looking for a non chain restaurant. Let me start off by saying this place serves farm to table. Second, best cheese curds in town!!! I ordered the Wisconsin Dip sandwich and it was amazing! Flavor was awesome. Husband ordered meatloaf special, meatloaf wrapped in bacon… Need I say more. Prices are reasonable for the concept of the restaurant.

I had their lobster mac & cheese. It was cold, so I asked to warm it up again. Once they came the second time I had the chance to really taste it. It was good but not great. I will give them 3 out of 5 stars. The décor is nice and the staff working was very good.

What do you call a place like this? A steak house? Nahhh A fancy burger/sandwich place? Maybe ! I have been wanting to try this place for a while but nothing really drew me towards it. We were in the area yesterday and decided to try the place out for dinner. The ambiance is pretty good and I love the idea of Wisconsin grown theme. However the theme and the overall experiance unfortunately didn’t meld into something I can make sense of(not that it matters I guess) Anyway here is what we tried — bbq wings(was a 2.5 at best) my 6 year old seem to enjoy it though — Wisconsin Mac n cheese was a 4(or maybe a 5 given that they are using all Wisconsin farm products) — Wisconsin blue burger — I must say this was a 5 and is a great burger. The meat tastes fabulous it was nicely done — steak –3.5 was pretty good. Nothing memorable — chopped salad –4 pretty delist — ribs– were pretty decent and again nothing memorable(which would again be rated as a 3) Yes I tried a bite of everyone’s meal. Service– our waiter Justin was professional and service was great ! I would rate the service a 5 Unfortunately I can’t quite give an identity to this place so I may not return. Unless maybe an official trip where an out of town client wants to have a Wisconsin burger and I bring them here since this is a classy burger joint !

Meh! Is the best way I can describe this place. Good place to watch the game and drink beer but that’s about it. Cocktails were unimaginative and cinnamon bitters just didn’t do it for me. It was way over powering. The little food I got was unseasoned. Cardinal rule before sending food out… please season it! I had given it 3 stars and made a comment how the bar tender was really nice. I had to come back and edit my review when I was over charged for 2⁄3 things I ordered. How does that even happen when you have a POS system???

Hom Wood Fired Grill use to be known as 8 – 12 which was co-owned by Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Braun before management switched. I was very interested in seeing what changes were made and honestly, I wasn’t swayed too much in either direction of good or bad. Service: We had a server tell us he would be right back to wait on us but he never returned. After 5 or so minutes, another server approached and stated that she would be serving us since our original server disappeared. Not sure what happened there but she was friendly and knew the menu quite well. Because of this mishap, we ended up getting a free dessert. Nice! Food: I do love how the food is locally grown here in Wisconsin. From the poultry to the cheeses, it’s all farmer friendly and house made. You definitely taste the great quality in their food. For my meal, I ordered the Wisconsin Dip which is a shaved beef sandwich with caramelized onions and au jus sauce. For the most part, the sandwich was tasty. Could have used a bit more salt in the au jus but overall, I enjoyed it. For the side, it came with crispy fries which was amazing. It would seem they use some type of batter or panko bread crumbs on their french fries to make them extra crisp. They were cooked to perfection. What I was really bothered by was the fact that there wasn’t any complimentary appetizer served. Typically, at these type of sit down restaurants, bread and butter comes with the meal. I definitely felt that not having it serves as a huge disadvantage to the restaurant. Give diners something to snack on before the meal considering the prices of entrees, appetizers and desserts. We would have just order an app to make up for this but really nothing on the app menu looked appealing. Also, I noticed that for most of the sides with the entrees, potatoes were heavily favored. Why I do love me a good mash, it would have been nice to see some variety. I am not highly inclined on ever returning; however, if someone were to pick Hom Wood Fired Grill as a place to dine for dinner, I wouldn’t vote heavily against it. An «A-OK» is the correct rating based on my experience.

I’ve been at this restaurant the last two days for a work conference. We were in a large room that was closed off to the rest of the dinning room and bar. The room said it seated about 57 people, there were 37 of us and it was cramped. The room got pretty hot the first day and the manager had to call for service since their air conditioning was not working. Turns out there was a wire not connected on the roof. For a good 7 hours of the first day everyone was glistening with sweat. The restaurant itself was very nice and modern with some classical charm. The tables were always clean. Not so much the bathroom, there was always a full trash with paper towels spilling out. The stalls in the women’s bathroom had that gap between the door where you can see the person inside. A little kid that came in the bathroom with his mom pressed his face in this gap while I was in the stall. Pretty awkward. All I could think to say was«hey there.» Then his mom finally called him away. They served us breakfast and lunch during our stay. The restaurant opens for business at 11:30am, so they don’t typically have breakfast. They had a tray of bagels and cream cheese from Panera Bread for us, with some fresh fruit. On my first day I had the grilled chicken salad with champagne vinaigrette. The salad could have feed 3 people easily. The romaine lettuce was crisp and bright green. The chicken was really good, tender and had an Italian seasoning on it. I was happy with my meal. The second day I tried the chicken pot pie. Not good. There was no flavor. There was no crust, just a couple of dense biscuits. I had to add quite a bit of salt. All of the servers were really nice, slow, but that was probably because we had a large group. Overall, it was just okay.
