Great spot to catch lunch or dinner and a couple beers. Reminds me of some of the places I used to go to in Michigan. It’s not near where I live in Milwaukee but it is near where I work. The left leg of Brookfield, somewhat off the beaten path but accessible to the main thoroughfare. That’s where I consider this place to lay. Food is actually damn good. Great burgers, sandwiches, and more than a few appetizers. The theme is bacon so think piggly when you come. They even serve a plate of bacon in the front. Gotta love that! Solid beer selection and a full bar what more could you ask for… As stated above, I eat here for lunch so I don’t get to hang out after hours out here. That said though I have noticed since the last times being here they have expanded the joint to include a back area with 3 or so pool tables. Overall Saloon does it up right. No complaints here.

Waiter didn’t know his menu, bloody met special and gave the higher priced Bloody Mary without asking. Side salad was very small considering up charge and the chicken sandwich had a very small portion for the price. Atmosphere was good however.

Recently, my husband and I met some friends here for dinner and drinks. When we arrived, the place was hopping! We were going to wait for a table, but ultimately ended up grabbing an open one in the game room area. Our server and the bartender were both very nice. Saloon on Calhoun is a fun and happening place. There are plenty of televisions for watching sports, and there’s also darts and pool tables. The main bar and dining area is huge. As the name indicates, this place is all about the bacon. Bacon is incorporated into a lot of their menu items. They also have a free bacon happy hour Monday thru Friday from 4−7pm. You can also order a bacon basket anytime for $ 5. The food here is your standard pub fare: burgers, sandwiches, pizza, chicken wings, and appetizers. They also have a very good Friday fish fry. As soon as I saw the Baconized Deviled Eggs on the menu, I knew I had to try them. You may only get 3 of them on a plate, but when you see them, you’ll understand why. The egg whites are filled to the point of almost toppling over with yolk mixture and crumbled bits of bacon. If you are a fan of deviled eggs, then you must try these. I did order the fish fry for my dinner. It comes with 3 filets, coleslaw, marble rye bread, and fries. You can have the fish either baked or fried. I had mine fried, and it was delicious. The next time I come here and have the fish, I will try it baked. I will definitely be back, for sure.

Eric was a great server and bartender! Our bloody Mary’s were delicious with bacon vodka. The cheese curds were excellent too.

Went for Super Bowl Sunday. Our waiter, a big burly dude with tats and a bad attitude, didn’t want to give us the tables at the front for whatever reason. It was 2:00, we got there early for good seats. After we finally made our case, that we got there early and would be a party of 15 or more, he wanted to be a jerk and check all of our ids. Fine, everyone’s over 25, but I get it. While explaining they had NOT A SINGLESPECIAL because they didn’t give a shit about teams other than the packers, several curse words were used while women were present. My girl has a mouth like a sailor but that’s beside the point. This initial interaction was quite awkward and a bit annoying. Once this guy was off duty, our experience got better and the game started. Not a bad night with friends, but the atmosphere I give 2 stars. Burger tasted frozen… Service was so-so. Won’t be back if I can help it.

Came here for the Thursday night packer game. Was nice to have the happy hour before the game started. Who can refuse free bacon and popcorn am I right? Well a friend of mine had ordered their happy hour special, 3 tacos and 5 coronitas for $ 10. It’s a good deal so I would recommend it. The tacos are claimed to be «authentic» so maybe I was expecting more but they just seemed to be like an average American home cook could make with a few ingredients… nothing seemed to pop and the flavor was just ok, nothing special. Ok so we get to the kickoff and the game(vs Lions) was really sucking and we weren’t doing anything but hey that happens but I was expecting the atmosphere to be more energetic and it just didn’t seem like the patrons were into it. Well that’s ok that’s on them and not the bar staff but we were sitting at the bar and another person had sat beside me who I didn’t know and he was basically ignored for like 25 minutes then finally the bartender asks him what he would like. I’m like, this guy been here and you don’t acknowledge him for almost a half hour? I get it, packer game, you’re busy but a guy sitting at the bar he is right in front of you the whole time you are walking back and forth and doing other non-customer chores like cleaning things and refilling straws and whatever. I really felt for this guy, he was thirsty and just wanted a cold one but you were too busy doing other things instead of the 1 thing you are there to do… serve the customer! Anyways the bartender was ok to us, checked on us a few times for refills and such but when we were waiting to close the tab at the end of the night, again it was like she was too busy doing administrative and other things so it took us about 20 minutes until literally we needed to jump up in our stools and almost grab her to ask her for our bill and close the tab and leave for the night. I understand game days are busy and all… maybe management can put 2 bartenders behind the bar for busier times and I don’t put this on her, our bartender but the job of a bartender is to tend the bar and the customer. Service to the patrons seemed to be lacking that night… a shame because the bartender was put in a difficult situation, I get it… busy night and no backup… but that falls on the manager and things should have been better. Ok, ok so for myself parting thoughts… this is a nice place with promise in the area, a few more attention to details like… oh I don’t know… customer service would be welcomed. The specials are nice, the tacos are bland and the bartenders, while good meaning and competent are put in difficult situations to succeed. An average 3 stars review

I’ve been here several times and it’s great. The food is always good and the beer selection seems to get bigger every time I go. They«recently» expanded and added a massive projection screen for sporting events. Even if I had one bad experience here I would rate them 5 stars because the owner is always busting his butt, as well as his staff, to make sure people are happy. I’m surprised at so many negative comments, but I’m not at the same time because that’s today’s world, it’s impossible to please people. Saloon on Calhoun, keep up the great work!

My family has gone to Saloon on Calhoun 4 times this past year. We were there this past Friday evening and I was VERY disappointed with the entire experience. The place is undergoing remodeling and they put our group of 8 at a table right where the remodeling is being done, WHILE it was still being done! That was the only place they could seat us, we were told. It was so dark, we were all using our phones to read the menu(looking around others were doing the same). They should not have had tables even back there! I heard another man ask if he needed a hard hat to sit there. Besides that, the food quality has gone downhill. My Grilled Cheese with bacon was just OK, the chips too salty to eat. Not sure if we will be going back. if we do, it will be after remodeling and we will be fussy about where we sit.

For a while I wanted to check this place out but wasn’t sure where it was(I was going off of verbal directions from a friend). My bf and I happened to be in the neighborhood at 3, a slower period, so we stopped in. I like that the menu is small and they had a great selection of appetizers and beers on tap. When we got all of our food we were pretty happy with the quality and taste. The ranch and cheese curds were my favorite. Also, the service was great and staff were helpful and friendly.

This was our first time here and we all loved it. Eric was a great waiter and is very passionate about the food that is prepared there. He described the menu so well, we wanted to order all of it but restrained ourselves. We started with the sampler of 4 apps and got the cheese curds, bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks, pork sticks, and broccoli, bacon, and cheese bites. ALL were absolutely delicious and came with 3 sauces. Our entrees were the reuben wrap, chili, and B2LT sandwich. All were wonderful(chili needed a little salt). There was so much flavor in everything which is a nice change from most restaurants in Brookfield. When we first arrived for lunch at 12:30pm it was near empty and we saw about 5 employees; toward the end of our meal the restaurant got a lot busier and the only people we saw were Eric and the girl sitting at the hostess stand on her cell phone. Instead of having her face in her cell phone, she could have been walking around the room asking if anyone needed anything since Eric seemed to be waiting all the tables and pouring drinks. Also, the menus and check holder were very dirty and hostess lady could be cleaning those as well. The menus actually stuck together. It’s never a good idea to keep menus at the table because they are always forgotten when everything gets cleaned. It is not your crappy bar food that’s taken from the freezer and thrown into the fryer! We are from Bay View and surrounded by great restaurants that are known for fantastic flavors so it was nice to finally see that in Waukesha.

This place is really like 3.5 stars. Sometimes I like it other times it’s just so-so. Honestly this place is a bit west side white trashy, mixed with Divey but don’t hold that too much against it. Their known for their free bacon happy hour and their ability to tie bacon into most anything on the menu. Burgers and chicken wings here are pretty good, but I wouldn’t call them special, just decent pub fair. They have a fairly good beer selection which I enjoy. Inside the place is pretty big and they do live music sometimes(no idea the schedule). They have a pool table and a couple typical bar games along with numerous TVs playing sports most nights. There is some limited outside seating along the parking lot so you can get some sun but don’t expect much to look at. The fun in the summer is when they get some cornhole games going here. Service is inconsistent. My last trip it was way above average, the prior was forgettable, and I’ve had bad as well…

It took 2 ½ hours to get served… our drinks sat at the bar for 20 minutes before the waitress brought them to the table… asked for water 3+ times. Sandwiches were mediocre and were skimpy on ingredients. Very disappointing…

Ok, so I have to re-review because the last time I went was a much better experience. The difference maker was that I sat at the bar, so it was much easier to get service when it’s busy, since there never seems to be enough servers in the dining room on busy nights. This past Monday I did see someone who seemed like a manager taking tables/running food which was good to see them helping the staff with the super packed trivia crowd. I got the bbq wings again, which are always cooked right and have a great sauce. Monday night is $ 0.75 wing night and they always have 2 unique flavors of the week, although the 2 flavors seem to share ingredients to you’re likely to love/hate both. I do love the free popcorn they have, I always end up eating like 3 or 4 servings haha. They free bacon during happy hour is nice too, it just sucks when people in front of you nab it all and you have to wait for more to be brought out, but if you ask they’ll get it right away. I’ve had me share of love/hate nights here, but the last few times it’s been getting better, so I hope the trend continues.

I’m bumping this up a star. Saloon just keeps on improving. It’s a really fun place to come for some good beer(they’ll have some good crafts on tap) and their food is pretty good too. Don’t forget about the free bacon, which I think is before 7. I remember when this place first opened and there really wasn’t much going on inside and it struggled to attract a crowd. Now, you’d be hard pressed to ever find a time this place is dull and empty. I still miss the shuffleboard though! Really fun place with something going on every day of the week.

I came here to watch the first Packer game of the season. While the game was lackluster, my experience at Saloon on Calhoun was not! This is a super fun place to watch a Packer game. There is a guy(I’m not sure if he is a patron or employee) that runs around with a Packer flag and a confetti drop at the bar after touchdowns, free touchdown shots, and yummy halftime food. They make A LOT of food so don’t worry about it running out while standing in line ;) Fun music is played during the commercials which keeps things upbeat. There is plentiful seating and many tvs, so you can see a game from basically any seat. We arrive just after the happy hour(4−7pm) where they offer free bacon. My fiancée and I ordered the appetizer sampler with bacon wrapped mozzarella sticks, cheddar bacon broccoli bites, chicken tenders, and cheese curds. It was a large plate of food and came with 3 different dipping sauces. The bacon wrapped mozzarella was definitely my favorite, but it was all tasty. It was more than enough for two people to split for dinner. Service is efficient and friendly, and drink prices are reasonable. The beer on tap tasted fresh and crisp, a sign they regularly clean the lines. There is also a game room and a pool table which would provide great entertainment during non-sporting events. They also have karaōke on Wednesday nights and team trivia. I wish this place was closer for me but I’ll make the trek across the city to check out the bacon happy hour and for Packer games!

Been meaning to stop in here for a long time, but the location has been the primary reason I haven’t managed to for so long. Finally went last night for Team Trivia on Monday night, which we play regularly with our group. Husband was also keen on the free bacon happy hour from 4 – 7(okay, so was I), so we got there a bit early and brought our appetites. Happily surprised to see that there was also a free popcorn machine, which is always a nice touch in a bar. We sat down and were attended to promptly. Our server filled us in on the specials and recommended some beers from their extensive collection(including telling us NOT to get some that he thought were no good, lol). When I mentioned I’m allergic to beer, he was happy to fill me in on the ciders and hard liquor options that they had(which were ample). I ended up with a Cider Boys peach cider, which was AWESOME and I’d never had it before. Definitely would buy for home consumption and would get it again on tap or in a bottle while I’m out. Now I know what to order next time we come. :) We wasted no time getting some bacon and popcorn, but we also ordered the pork wings with barbecue sauce. I can see a bit what some other people were saying about them — I’m not sure it’s an item I’d get again, but they were wrapped in bacon which was worthwhile. The barbecue sauce was different, but still tasty. Not your typical Sweet Baby Ray’s type of sauce. They were served with apple slices, which was a nice flavor pairing. Glad we tried them but I’ll probably explore other menu items next time(like the cheesy vegetable soup or a burger or the tater tots…). Our friends got the reuben wrap(which was ENORMOUS and very sauce-y) and the quesadilla, which looked really great as well. Later in the evening we ordered the brownie bites though, and holy mackerel — so so good. They are the fudgiest, chewy brownie pieces, wrapped in bacon and deep-fried to crispiness then served with a melty marshmallow dipping sauce. This is everything good, people. It’s something like $ 6 for 6 brownie bites, and you really only need to eat one or two. Fantastic. I’d also like to note that the music was not too loud, nor were the TVs. I could hear myself think and I didn’t have to scream to hear my companions speak either before trivia began or during. This is a huge plus to me, compared to a place like Brewski’s where I think they must have investment money in hearing aids or something. On the Team Trivia side of things, the host was jovial and handled things well, so no complaints there. It doesn’t hurt that we managed to score second place and win a $ 20 gift card to use next time! And oh yes, there will be a next time. They have live music on the weekends and certain week nights, free pool from open to close on Tuesdays, plenty of games(darts, pool, DEERHUNTER, etc) and lots of TVs. Come to watch the game, play trivia, kick around some billiard balls, or just to have a great beer.

Saloon on Calhoun is a widely known bar in deep Brookfield. People refer to it as the«Bacon Bar» as they include bacon in nearly everything on their menu. Not a place for pig lovers. There’s a huge open dining area that’s next to a long bar and a separate area for pool and other games. The free popcorn machine is pretty money as you can help yourself as much as you want. The beer isn’t too cheap here and the selection is average. The company I’ve gone here with say the wings are fabolous. The two times I’ve been here I’ve not been impressed with the food. The first time I went here I had a burger which was average. The second time I’ll never forget. The second time I came here I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap — one of the safest orders possible — the majority of all buffalo chicken wraps taste somewhat the same. The one I had from Saloon on Calhoun was the worst I’ve had in my life. It was spicy as heck and tasted nothing like buffalo sauce. I had my friend try it and he agreed that it tasted almost like a spicy chili. I thought they messed up my order but confirmed it was correct. There was really nothing buffalo-y? about this buffalo chicken wrap. I fought through the whole thing as it certainly wasn’t cheap. I can see why this place would appeal to some, but it left a bad taste in my mouth — literally, and one that I can’t seem to forget. If you come here for a game or for wings though — you should be safe.
