Mattie’s Pancake House

One of the best all-​round breakfasts I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for big American breakfast and amazing coffee this is the spot

Food is delicious however if you are a single person eating expect to be seated right near the kitchen (although there were plenty of tables in the main section) and have no service staff check on you except to take your order. That was my experience. When I paid I told the woman that I wasn’t leaving a huge tip since no one checked on me or even spoke to me once my order was taken. She could have cared less and gave me a dirty look as if I was the problem. I ended up leaving a 16% tip and in reality I really shouldn’t have done that.
I went out to breakfast this morning to another local restaurant and am going to avoid Mattie’s. They have plenty of business and don’t care about someone taking up one of the tables with a smaller check.

Awesome customer service here, the staff was so efficient we were in and out full and happy in 30 minutes!

Fantastic blueberry pancakes. Very cutsie atmosphere, great service. Small scale car and plane models line the window.

Awesome service and awsome food. Be advised it’s small and we had to wait outside for 10 minutes before being seated but was worth the wait!

only one problem it is always very busy with a very long wait. People had been waiting an hour that were told 15 minutes we were also told 15 minutes and it took A hour and 15 minutes
other than the very long wait they have good food if you have the time the burger bar and Downtown Coffee Lounge both also have good food and good breakfasts and they are open sundays

These guys were pretty great! They are super FAST! We walked in, and without even slowing our roll, we were seated and poured coffee. We ordered and received our food within minutes! These guys are some kinda wizards!
I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which came out perfectly. Their omelettes and chicken fried steak also looked dynamite. Coffee was good, but I noted just the slightest bit of saltiness in their water. Not terrible, not meal-​ruining, but noticeable.
Great quality and good portion size for the price, would come back anytime.

This is the best breakfast place in Brookings. The pancake really are fantastic, and despite the lines (everyone trying to go here at the same time) and the slightly pricey menu, it is still a place I like to go to as a treat.

Great service, great food, and a great view… very large portions… food was amazing… and we had a nice ocean view from our table… could not have asked for more… waitresses were very friendly and even took the time to talk with us on a very busy Saturday morning.

This was a very good breakfast place. Kind of small so there is generally a wait.
Went there with a group of 7 and ordered a variety of things ranging from a spinach omelet, french toast, biscuits with gravy, eggs, pancakes, bacon and different kinds of sausage. Everyone was happy with what they received which is unusual for a group. There wasn’t a complaint about anything. Service was friendly, slightly slow, but understandable with a group and a busy place.
Worth the stop if you are in the area.

My husband had eggs, pancakes, & bacon, which he said was excellent. I was a bit disappointed in the Swedish crepes, which I thought should have been lighter batter. Otherwise, very friendly atmosphere, great service. We will definitely return!

It was very busy when we arrived, so there was a bit if a wait. But it was so worth it! Great service, delicious food, decent prices. I will be back very soon!

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! Stopped here with the family while vacationing. Very friendly service, clean, and the food was amazing. Eggs Benedict best I’ve ever had, french toast is like a dessert, biscuits and gravy are fluffy and the gravy is excellent. A must go to when in Brookings!

Very good food and friendly staff. The food came out very fast. One of the waitresses spilled something on one of our plates and the cook quickly made up another one. Best pancakes I’ve ever had! When I’m back in town, I’m definitely going back!

The best hash browns around! If you like crisp breakfast taters like I do, ask for their deep fried version — they come out looking like miniature french fries, brown & not greasy.

Awesome breakfast place! Everything was delicious! I don’t usually get pancakes, but this is a pancake house. They were awesome with blueberries and whip cream, and my omelette was not skimpy at all on the sausage and crispy bacon inside and out.

Pretty good food. Service is hit and miss. It depends on who you get. Usually clean, last time my silverware was dirty and there was cold air blowing right up my legs from a vent under my chair. Cold air, in the winter. After I asked to move they brought a mat to put down over the vent.
Pancakes and french toast are good, biscuits are good but gravy is just so-​so.
A little on the spendy side for a diner, but the food is good.

Mattie’s has the best pancakes, that’s coming from a Pickaterian who doesn’t like pancakes, unless their Mattie’s. Their country gravy is tasty and the made to order Oatmeal is as good as Grandma’s.
All the waitresses are very nice and all help each other, if a soda gets spilled they all jump and get it cleaned up before it hits your lap.
Haven’t had a bad breakfast yet!

Great comfort food breakfast place. The pancakes are delightful. The breakfast potatoes, eggs, etc. were also all wonderful. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was their bacon. It was just meh. So don’t bother with that — stick to carbs and eggs.
The staff was very nice too. There was a wait when we arrived, but probably only waited about 15 minutes. And that was on a weekday morning. So I’d imagine it’s a circus on the weekend.
Such a good meal. Highly recommend.
