Chose this place for the great reviews, but I’m sorry to say I left uninspired. Carrie was super nice, and tried very hard to understand what I wanted and produce it, but I am looking for a stylist who knows what my hair/face needs and can give me expert advice and results– without me «backseat haircutting» every move. The partial color job I got came off with each shower and was totally gone within 3 weeks. All in all — expensive and disappointing.

The salon is easy to get to and there is ample street parking available. The salon was clean and inviting. I had my hair done by Keri. I like to color my hair red for the fall but with my spring wedding coming up, I wanted something closer to my natural hair color, which is brown. This task had eluded my previous hair dresser, but proved to be easy for Keri. Her initial consultation with me was very thorough and made me feel like we were both on the same page. Needless to say Keri succeeded in removing nearly all traces of red from my hair in no time at all! She seemed quite knowledgeable about how to get my hair to look exactly how I wanted it and even though I only had my hair trimmed, she was able to give my crazy, curly hair some shape and style. I would absolutely recommend this salon and especially any service with Keri. She just makes you feel so comfortable with the whole process, which is important when you are dealing with something so personal as hair.

I love my dye job from the lovely ladies of Biyoshi! Michele, Carrie, and Andrea were all wonderfully helpful in helping me pick a color(we went with Aubergine) and select the process/combination that would maximize the dimension. I now have the shiniest, most intense color of my life. That same weekend, I came back for an updo. Michelle added an amazing amount of volume to my thin hair– perfrctly avhieving the glamorous look I was going for. I will definitely be returning to Biyoshi the next time I need a cut, color or style. Tip: Parking police in the area are brutal! Make sure to leave plenty of time on your meter– they are known to ticket immediately.

Just had my hair done by Andrea and I LOVE it. I had never had my hair colored before and was naturally a little nervous to try Biyoshi. I wanted ombré but was a little particular about the kind of look I wanted. Andrea was attentive to what I wanted and the final result was amazing.

I’m a chronic self-hair-cutter. I’d waited 2 years until I decided to get my hair cut anywhere — and just to re-shape it! I read tons of reviews before I chose Biyoshi and I don’t regret the choice in the least. I left Biyoshi with renewed confidence in getting my hair cut professionally. Michelle did an amazing job layering my hair — she was really attentive and made sure I was OK with the length every step of the way. Michelle is also just a sweetheart and was so nice to talk to. I’d go back if I hadn’t recently moved out of Boston!

Andrea and Michelle are some of the nicest people you’ll meet. I come in once a month looking like a slob, and Andrea always finds ways to make me look good again. The place is very conveniently located. These ladies never make you wait and always have a smile on their faces. I would call for an appointment up to one week in advance as this is one of the most visited salons in town.

The minute Michelle used the seizures on my hair, the way she did that first bold cut, I knew this was going to work out, and I was right!!! It’s been 5 years since I had a regular hair dresser. The awesome one I had moved to DC, and since then, I’ve done one cut per place pretty much. This includes trying some other pretty highly rated places/people on Unilocal.I have curly and somewhat frizzy hair, and just your standard layers don’t do the trick. Every hair dresser CLAIMS they know how to avoid the dreaded«pyramid», where the cut takes on a triangle shape around the face, but few do, especially if you want a shorter(shoulder length). Michelle is one of those few! I have now found my regular hair dresser! AND, she also gave my 4 year old daughter a pretty awesome cut, not just a generic trim. Curly haired ladies — this is where you want to go!

I’ve never had a haircut I really loved and felt was worth the $$ until now. I always feel intimidated going to salons, because I don’t really know what I want, and definitely don’t know how to describe anything hair-related. Michelle was super patient with me, and helped my poor triangle cut get some amazing layers and color. Really, this might be the first time I’ve ever been crazy excited about a haircut. Also, she’s FAST. Highlights, cut, and blow dry was done in just over an hour. I’ll definitely be back to take the plunge into going from blonde to brunette, as she made me feel really comfortable to do so. So happy to have this place in my new hood!

After bad experiences with Boston salons, I was at first wary of my appointment here. I had always passed by the salon on my way from the gym and decided to take a chance on it. I definitely don’t regret it! For the quality the price is more than reasonable. Andrea expertly handled my curly hair(a difficulty for many), gave me beautiful long angled layers, and did a perfect job blow-drying my hair. Michelle also helped in the blowdrying process. Also, they were both very friendly.

I like this salon because of several reasons: They are nice and friendly people, They use good quality products, and overall they did a good job on my color and highlights.

After having a slew of terrible haircuts, it was refreshing to not leave the salon in tears. I was able to schedule a last minute trim with Michelle, the owner. She was able to make my hair look healthy in such a short amount of time. I was so happy with my haircut. I can’t wait to schedule a cut and color in the future.

I was looking for a dramatic change to my hairstyle and didn’t want to go to a random hair salon where it could have easily messed up. I know Amber K(the other reviewer) and asked her where she got her hair done because it does look super nice and she suggested Biyoshi after researching herself the best places to go. I went in with an appointment when it was opened and it does get busy fast so even though they do welcome walk-ins, I suggest making an appointment or calling ahead. With the hair style I had in mind, Andrea went at it and after cutting about ~10 inches off it looked amazing. I feel like a new person and am totally in love. Thanks Biyoshi!

I wanted to try something different and get red highlights in my hair. I went to Biyoshi because of the Unilocal reviews and because it’s right around the corner from my house. The atmosphere: it’s a small, unassuming place. There was only Michelle, the owner and my stylist, no receptionist, no separate person washing hair. All of that was fine by me– it was a relaxed, down to earth place, and Michelle was friendly and welcoming. She had one other woman getting color/cut at the same time, and did a very good job of making sure neither of us felt neglected or like we were waiting unnecessarily. She listened to what I wanted: I wasn’t 100% sure I was clear, or that she got it, but she went to town with paint brush and then scissors. I’m definitely not well versed in hair vocab, so I was pretty nervous as to how it would turn out, but she gave me exactly what I wanted. The color is fantastic, she paid attention to my requests, the cut is perfect, and she took the time to blow-dry my very long, thick, wavy hair to a beautiful straight shine(after asking me if I wanted to finish it straight or curly– I always appreciate when a stylist gives me the choice!). Overall very happy. Not cheap, but I think average for the nicer salons in Boston/Brookline, and for me– with crazy hair that has made several stylists give up before– it’s worth it. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been going to Byoshi for 8+ years. Andrea has ben my «go to» person from the beginning and I will continue to visit Byoshi as long as I can. At this point, I really don’t even have to say what«style» I’m looking for. I just leave it to Andrea and she makes it work. I’ve been a very happy customer for years and would recommend them to anyone.

I keep getting compliments from so many people after I got my hair done here. I’ve been to so many salons that will give me the wrong color, or just highlights — when I didn’t ask for one. But not here! Michelle will listen to your wants and she is able to tell what will look good on you. I’ve been looking for a salon to stick to for coloring, and I’m probably going to keep returning to Biyoshi :)

Biyoshi is a hidden gem. Andrea and Michelle are amazing stylists. My hair is not easy to cut and Andrea makes me look damn good every single time with no exceptions. I daresay she is the human equivalence of Photoshop. Biyoshi’s prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, attentive, and accommodating, and they have mad skillz. Don’t even hesitate. Go here for a haircut. I promise you it will rule. Don’t go to Pigs Can Fly next door and eat their round scone looking things. They are not good.

Michelle is terrific. She is intuitive and creative, makes great suggestions, and then pulls out the scissors and makes it happen! I love the way she cuts my hair. For the first time in my life I haven’t had to use styling products to get the look I want. I highly recommend her.

I love this place! Michelle has cut my hair twice now and I’ll definitely keep coming back. I’ve recently moved to Boston and have tried several salons, looking for a go-to, and I’ve finally found it. They are professional, friendly, and gave me 2 fantastic hair cuts. Highly recommend Biyoshi!

Michelle has been cutting my hair for the last 7 years and I’m ashamed it’s taken me so long to write a review! When I first moved to Boston from New York City, I tried 3 different barbers and ended up with awful haircuts. Sure they were cheap, but you get what you pay for! When I first went to Michelle, I told her I wanted something clean cut with style. She started by cutting my hair with just a small razor blade! Never had that done before. I felt like she gave me more than a haircut, but a «look». The best part guys? The head massage while you are getting your hair washed!

I visited this salon when it was located in Allston, and my first experience was great! I was super psyched and relieved to have found a stylist in Boston. Sadly, my second haircut(with the same stylist) was awful. The cut was extremely lopsided(picture left-side layers starting at my cheekbone and right-side layers starting at my chin), and the bangs were awkward. I’m a big proponent of speaking up when a haircut isn’t what you expect, so I nicely asked if it was possible to even things out a bit. The recovery-attempt didn’t work, though, and I left disappointed(and with pretty shredded hair). From the Unilocal reviews, it looks like this particular stylist is still working at Biyoshi and doing a good job, so maybe I just experienced an off day(?) Even so, it took me over a year to grow everything out, so I won’t be returning.

Not in Allston anymore! I went here to donate my hair. Emily did a great job! She’s really cool and since I usually don’t go to hair salons, I might consider my next hair cut here.
