Great staff. enough equipment to get a good workout in. would give 5 stars if the men’s locker rooms didn’t smell bad

This is one of the disgusting gym you’ll know. Not 24 hours at all, there are machines need to be clean and change. No towels they have bootleg sanitizer water with a spray. Employees not very welcoming just eat the front desk and need more equipments the manager here don’t know how to manage this place/​employees properly. Also too damn crowded. Most of the equipments are old and some of them are not even working. Not a single employees here wipe down or clean any machine, disgusting.

Absolutely filthy, especially bathrooms. More so than when it was Bally’s.

I’ve worked out here a handful of times when I didn’t want to venture out to the city. All these Bally-​converted 24hrs are disgusting. I never dared to go into the changing rooms. Just come in for a quick work out and go home.
The free weights are all over the place. There was a little stretching area on the 2^nd floor but now they have some useless machines there. I tried to find foam rollers for about 5 minutes today and couldn’t find any on the first or second floor. I asked the guys up front and they tell me there two (TWO!!) in the back somewhere and maybe someone is using them. No attempt to try to lead me to where they are or actually help me. Nice.
I tried to take a class here once and had to leave after 15 minutes. I didn’t want to be that rude person but the class was really useless.
They really need to make some major renovations and upgrades. The people who work out here are mostly middle-​aged ladies which is interesting.
I hate this place but only come here out of sheer convenience. :(

This review is solely for the young men staffed at this location. I joined the guy a few months ago and Bruno was amazing in helping me not only stay motivated during my sign-​on, but making me feel very comfortable there– he very clearly takes pride in what he does, and enjoys getting to know the members he has brought on, and that means the world to me. Thanks Bruno! Jesse at the front desk is always smiling and chatty, Chris G. Is hilarious, and they all engage with my roommate and I every time we step in the place. Being recognized and smiled at when you walk into a place where it’s easy to feel down sometimes is a fantastic moral booster. Keep it up guys!

Well the old ballys is gone no for awhile. Been a member here in the past. So I decided to try it again as a guest. Overall machines, free weights section, aerobic section is not bad, not great either. I know its a 3 story fitness center which is rare in Brooklyn. But the AC is bad there, you will sweet like crazy. The staff I used to know 5 years ago are gone, they were cool and helpful, and not pushy like these young hot heads. They try anything to lock in on a deal yo don’t want.
If you ask me the prices they asking for is crazy for this place, considering they got competition next block. I think 30 bucks a month with taxes included is more then fair. They want twice as much, after their fees, and other hidden fees. They claim 35 bucks a month advertised, but its a lot more then that. You pretty much looking at 500 – 600 a year total. If you like an average gym at these prices, go for it.

Took one class and did not like it very much, had to change in one of the smelliest locker rooms I have ever been in, and got bugged by an overbearing worker who called me the day after to try and convince me to return… did not appreciate his attitude.

It took over the old Bally’s fitness club with a few aesthetic changes: new paint on the walls and a few new machines.
Slowly but surely they are improving the club in my opinion.
However a few more things need to be fixed in order for it to be in tip top shape:
1) 24 fitness is NOT open for 24 hours. What gives?
2) The 1^st floor is sorely lacking in AC. It swelters when working out there in the cardio machines — not the best idea.
3) Replace even more machines!
I do like how a lot more machines are getting replaced as well as the dumbells. I haven’t checked out the pool or the sauna, but I doubt any big changes are made for there yet. However, I do know they have more rules for the pool lanes so it will hardly be filled to the brim with people when swimming around — a good thing all around.
Overall, not bad since it is pretty cheap (especially if you had a Bally’s account here and move your account over.)

Place is super old n nasty. They do keep it clean but the gym feels like its from the 80s… They should have redone the entire gym before reopening the doors. The men’s bathroom upstairs reeks of urine n mildew I couldn’t walk in… For $ 40 a month th I think I can do better

Women s locker room Is a hairball-​littered fungal mess with many lockers unavailable due to permanent locks.
Towel optional sauna and steam room-​gross… Pool is closed til May 24, was never opened at advertised time in AM. Unprofessional staff more involved in their side conversations than customer service more then 50% of the time… Yoga classes canceled months ago with no replacement.
Walk or run to Planet Fitness (half the price) or Dolphin for a real gym.

They’re renovating so I’ll cut them some slack but bathrooms currently are pretty disgusting and smell of piss. Had a hard time using bathroom as all of them were so gross. Gym equipment is decent. A variety of machines keep it interesting and fresh. Weights were stacked for the most part. Bathrooms were biggest concern. Hot tub was not working due to renovations.

Shame shame shame! I can’t even say this 24-​hour fitness is just lipstick on the Bally’s pig, because zero improvements seem to have been made from the moldy, reeking place of… whatever is the OPPOSITE of fitness that is was six months ago.
I was a member here for six years because it was $ 20 a month back then and I couldn’t afford better. It was extremely difficult to get out of my contract. Now I swim at the lovely Park Slope YMCA.
I passed by the other day and was curious about the change so I let a young woman give me a tour. They have definitely rearranged the front desk area and have added all kinds of products for sale that used to be upstairs and unobtrusive. And that seems to be the only change in the six months they have been under new management.
The young woman took me through the same nasty stained carpeted hallways, with the gross ceiling panels that drip in the summer or when it rains. Ah, I remembered it well. But the worst part was the locker rooms. Glory be — when I walked in, not only did I see the exact same dirty, hairball-​and-​tampon-​wrapper-​covered floors, also still no curtains on the showers and filthy sinks, butt naked people in the sauna and steam room with no towels, but I was overpowered by the stench of NAIR — yes indeedy, someone was depilitating their hairy bits and no one said or did a goddamned thing about it.
She kept pushing me to join «today! The price will go up once they make the repairs!»
What can I say, «fool me once.» And all that.

They have a bunch of shady young guys running this gym. very rude & unprofessional. Told me I should come back another day when I asked to take a tour, since the manager wasn’t available to show me around.
Skip this dump & join a real gym, that at least treats prospective members decently.

I visited this gym a few months ago when it was still a Bally’s gym. I wasn’t too impressed and didn’t purchase a membership. I decided to check it out again over the weekend because I noticed the 24 Hour Fitness and wanted to see if there were any changes made. I was not disappointed! It seems a lot cleaner; staff were friendly personable and seemed to know a lot about fitness. I ultimately did not purchase a membership because they no longer offer daycare which I absolutely require to work out. :(

It’s a Ballys in disguise. They will make you sign a contract 3 pages long at font 0.3 with conflicting clauses. And let’s say you’re done with the gym and contract is officially over, they entrap you by forcing you to contact a faceless nameless entity at corporate that you cannot get hold of to drop your membership.
I made this mistake years ago signing up at this location. You are cattle that they shake down and send you to the slaughter if you try to escape.
If you are so inclined to sign up with the devil, call the BBB first before doing so and ready your claim to file.
If you want a decent 24 hour gym, Dolphin is good.

Wow what a change! The 24 Hour Fitness folks are doing a fine job renovating this from a Bally’s and have already made some fine changes around the club. Yes, things are different, but definitely changes for the better. For example, some of the recent paint work has given this place a great, fresh look,. and I hear nice, new signage is coming! Next, I’d love for them to change out the outdated tile in the men’s locker room… but I know that is super expensive, so I can deal :)
I’m not sure what the other Unilocaler! was complaining about 17 cents for… I bought a water in the club this week, and low and behold there were 17 cents charged for tax. I’m pretty sure that’s the city government’s doing and not 24 Hour’s doing.
Btw, if you don’t have the membership where you can go around to any 24 location you want, you should upgrade! I live in Brooklyn Heights but was down Bensonhurst the other day, and it was awesome to be able to stop in and work out for free b/​c I have an all access membership!

I’ve been a member of this location for a while, and most recently it has changed from a «ballys ‘sports club into a «24hour fitness» sports club.
Now these are the changes that I have observed thus far.
1) They have installed a machine in the front where you need to scan your finger rather then swipe a card every time you go into the location. This to me is super annoying and time consuming, specially since the machine is shitty and takes 5 minutes to actually scan your finger. This usually ends up with a pile of people at peak hours in the front waiting to get scanned to get in.
(side note– my friend goes to EQUINOX and pays $ 200 a month for membership– and she’s not being scanned like she’s in a federal prison getting brought up for charges. No ones trying to sneak into your shitty gym 24 hour fitness!)
2) 24 hour fitness. isn’t actually 24 hours. Not this location anyway.
3) They have put random irritating signs everywhere such as «the quarters you spend on a locker will not be refunded » or a promotional poster of protein powder right smack in the middle of the mirror in the woman changing room.
4) The water for sale went up 19 cents, which is irritating. The same exact water bottle was 2 dollars flat, for years… and now it 2.19? Really trying to squeeze those cents out of us! So petty!
Now I’m sure some of you are wondering why I am so upset about 19 cents or a bunch of annoying posters up at the gym. The reason being is that Ballys management was not the best and it was always a semi dirty shitty gym. BUT it WASNT — in your face money hungry management that don’t trust their customer to the point that they need to be FINGER SCANNED every time they come in. The scanning cards worked just fine. The weights in the lifting area have been a semi — wreck for years. and still are (the annoying signs don’t help)
24 hour fitness is a transparent money grubbing location at this point, and they do not care about the customer. The problems that I hoped would be fixed or improved by the new management, hasn’t. It is still the same dirty shitty gym, but now super annoying. This is the finally straw for me to actually leave this location (although its very close to my house)
